10 $ minimum on a card, beers are 6 $.so you will get screwed if alone. It’s a pretty divey place with DJ playing top 40 stuff and usually classics. Has a weird odor. I tried to get a menu but I don’t think they have one? Bouncers are friendly though!

Decent prices. Drunk people. Loud poppy music. What’s not to like. Almost got puked on in the bar but that’s ok. Not for the faint of heart.

If I could give a half star I would. Terrible, I waited in the pee ordered bar for the bartender to acknowledge me.(Not that busy) This older gentleman came over. Wearing a Hawaiian shirt, I asked a for a drink. Nothing too elaborate, but a fairly common drink that most bartenders should know. The @$$hole messed up 3 times after I gave him the instructions and explained how to make the drink. The entire time the guy was giving me attitude. He charged me 60 $, for a drink that should only cost 30 $. I tried to walk out but the bouncer made me pay. I would not recommend to a friend nor would I return. I went to another bar, order the same shot, paid 25 $. No attitude, in fact got 2 free shots because the owner heard about it and wanted to make my experience on petaluma memorable. Would never go here even on a slow day. DONOTGOHERE!

I had mixed feelings about going to the Hideaway after reading the reviews but we gave it a try anyways and I’m glad we did. This place is tucked away just off the main drag in Petaluma. It is the epitome of dive bar but in the fun sense. The crowd was mostly 30s-40s, not much diversity in ethnicities. There was a really good vibe about the place, everyone was super friendly and just happy. The drinks were good and the DJ was good too. He played a mix of music… from Brittney Spears to Michael Jackson to «the boots with the fur» song. They have a really small dance floor that was just the right size. There is also a pool table right next to the dance floor. We all had a really great time here; it’s a perfect place to start your night with great friends, a couple of drinks with just a touch of dancing. We will definitely be back!

Read the reviews before visiting with my wife last night. All the good things I read were on the spot, and not one of the bad comments were experienced. For a «dive» bar, the place is really clean. The bar was spotless as was the bathroom and everything else. Of course, we were there for an hour or so up until 9 pm, so it was still early. OK, so why 5 stars? The reason to come back to a place is the people you encounter. First and foremost, Andrew was bartending and it’s rare to come across a more perfect person for the job. He was attentive, conversing with regulars while continuing to move and serve drinks. When time permitted, he’d come and talk without the«feigned» interest you sometimes run across, –a true«people person.» Similarly, the patrons I either talked with or observed all seemed to be great people just out having fun. We will certainly return!

Been here a couple times, will not go back. Why you ask? Well a guy… not the first time mine you, tried to start a fight with me. I went from lightly putting him on the floor to getting hemmed up by the«bouncers» and escorted out with a forearm on the throat and a knee to the back. Places like this will eventually go too far and get someone seriously hurt. Its a shame such a nice town has such an awful establishment to coincide with. Hope this helps… BTW, I’m a former Navy Flight officer and established personal trainer, not just a guy venting.

I was an «out of towner» when I went here. I asked around about where I could go to dance and was directed here. I had a blast just dancing with my friend. We got approached by the giant flock of guys there, ratio of probably 10⁄1 guy/girl, but not like a girls never dealt with that before. The bartenders were busy but it did take overly long to get a drink, you can tell they served their friends first. No matter how much flagging down you did. A few creepers and a few descents there. Can’t give it lower or higher, I’d probably go back late night after bar hoping to dance, if nothing else had something better.

Suck sandwich. Read my other reviews — I LOVE A GREATDIVEBAR. This bar is Seriously Creepy. We were on our way back to the city from Tomales Bay and really craved a great dive bar with cheep booze. I searched Unilocal and this bar was at the top of the list. What a Disappointment. We were a group of six, and they«ID“ed us(we had to take out our IDs while the stamped our hands and they never actually checked them). We walked in and toward the back; all the while thinking this wasn’t a dive bar, is was just a creepster bar. Weird, unattractive people and REALLY odd people on the dance floor — I don’t love dancing at a bar, but watching this dance floor gave me the willies. We decided within 39 seconds not to stay, and headed out. Outside we found one of our group sitting at a table outside in TEARS. She had a very small bottle of water(see pic) and they would not let her in. No biggie — she offered to drink the WATER(swear to God — we don’t need to sneak booze into a bar). The bouncer would not let her in the bar even with the bottle empty! WTF??? Seriously? Whatever — the six of us will spend our money elsewhere. In fact, we found a much better, more locals, dive bar a mile away — The Buckhorn. Skip the Hide Away. It’s a shit hole.

Wanna be Irish bar tender that was looking for a fight was enough for us to want to leave no sooner than he served us our beers with attitude. He was insultive and provoking. Petaluma has far more to offer. than this. Try Taps or McNears

Carpet? in a bar? Dive bar at its finest. Carpeted floors throughout(except the«dance floor»), music that’s too louad, and no where to sit and talk make this bar the kind you end a night at, not start one.

BRAVO!!! Keep doing what you’re doing… this place is amazing. Perfect music, amazing drinks, great people, and everyone is friendly. Even the Raiders theme is great, coming from a 9er’s fan. I’m coming back everyday after work! Love this place!

Always can count on this place fore a good time. Cheap drinks, good mix of people(not all college kids, not all old men, not all jersey shore wannabes… good mix) Weekends they have a good DJ but the dance floor is never as packed as I think it should be. :) Never left here disappointed!

Great Mardisgras party. If they have another party I’m going to bring all my friends. The food was great. The pulsators were playing some good tunes and the atmosphere was really fun! We danced all day n night! Thanks for the good time!

Well, it’s a dive bar. Not the kind of place you’d dress up to go out to, far from glamorous. That said, it’s not bad for grabbing a beer or playing some pool with a couple friends. It can be a nice change from some of the louder bars in town, the volume is usually reasonable enough to carry on a conversation. I’ve never seen a DJ here, only the jukebox. They have a decent-sized dance floor, but I’ve only ever seen a few drunk lads attempting to show off. I’d consider this to be spectator entertainment, an added bonus? The people here are hit or miss. Some nights it’s a nice crowd of friend groups having a good time, another it’s a loud group of drunk bikers stumbling to and fro. And of course the select few who find the need to start fights, mostly on weekends. Again, typical for a dive bar. Drinks are reasonably priced, and the bartenders are friendly. The cocktails tend to be poured generously, I’ve never had a weak drink. There are something like ten beers on tap with a couple local favorites(Lagunitas).

I’d been hearing stories about this mystical Hide-Away for awhile. I couldn’t wait to check it out. I kept on imagining all of the quality people watching that was going to unfold before me. Last night I finally came face to face with this talked-up supposedly«divey» lair. And while there were some characters hanging out at the bar — the Hide-Away did not bring the dive. At all. It was mellow. The pool tables were intact. The bar had big plasma TVs hanging above it. The jukebox played Tom Petty. Even the bathrooms were cleaner than probably ¾th of the bar bathrooms that I’ve been in — in San Francisco. It was actually a slight let-down. A well kept bar with friendly bar staff. But nope — barely a sliver of «dive.» So yeah the Hide-Away is a quality place to grab a drink and catch up with friends. But if you’re looking for a more«interesting» night — be sure to catch this place at a later hour(apparently a much later hour), or on a busy weekend. At least that’s what I’m hoping — because I’m looking forward to another visit here — and hopefully a slew of moments — similar to the ones, which Raleigh captured so artfully in his review of the Hide-Away.
