I had dial-up service with their predecessors( and TC3net) for many years. I always paid for a year in advance. When D&P took over, they wanted to bill monthly. I called and asked if I could pay yearly in advance. They agreed and I sent a check. Their representative even told me to ignore the monthly bills because their system was not set up for annual billing. In June, when the year was up, I wanted to renew, but they had raised their rates some time during the year. I cancelled the service, but they said I had to pay a balance because of the rate increase. I wrote a letter explaining all this, and that I had always paid in advance, that they had no right to run a balance on my account without my permission. I paid for a year and I should get a year of service. They did not respond to my letter. They just sent another bill(and added a $ 7.50 penalty). I imagine they will keep sending bills(and adding penalties) and then try to ruin my credit rating. I guess they figure they can try to bill for anything they want. Unless you are willing to spend money for a lawyer, there is not much a person can do. I won’t deal with this company again.
