Campers beware! Besides being dirty, this place is a ripoff. Everything’s sky high price wise and the staff is unresponsive. They pulled the old bait and switch on me and said they are under no obligation to notify you of price changes. I will never return, you should camp somewhere else! ,

We come here every year and like it a lot. Halloween camping in particular is the best. However, as several reviewers have remarked, this place has a contaminated water problem that is inexcusable and getting worse. The likely cause is hydrogen sulfide which is not unsafe but creates a foul smell and taste — rotten eggs. This is a very treatable problem, but you do need to treat it. If it’s not fixed soon, as in before next season, we will find another campground to visit, although we would hate to have it come to that.

Pretty disappointed. Campground needs some cleanup and revamping. Showers and bathrooms are pretty gross. Water smells HORRIBLE. So disgusting we didn’t shower Sunday and just waited till we got home. Had to brush my teeth with bottled water. Staff rude and spread to thin. They allow WAYTOOMANYVISITORS per site. Site next to us had so many visitors we could barely park our truck on our site, couldn’t even have a fire, no room. The site was already too small for our trailer as it was. Prices way to high. They charge you per site, per person, per child, per pet, per vehicle and then a resort fee per person on top of all that. Then none of the activities are included in that price, they nickel dime you to death. One weekend(2 nights) 150.00 just for the site. Too much!

The water smells lie the hot springs in Yellowstone Park! The smell is so bad I almost threw up taking a shower. I spoke to the management, and they knew about the smell. We were told to run the water until it cleared up. It never did. I think they wanted us to run it until we got used to it. Clean water is a basic at any campground. This place doesn’t pass the smell test.

The Monroe KOA is nice getaway from the normal everyday grind. This is our 2nd time visiting the KOA and both times, we’ve had a good time. Monroe KOA’s campsites are nice, shady and quiet. Depending on the day, they have a range of things going on like dance parties in the barn, hayrides, movies and tyedied shirts. Some of them have a fee, some don’t. They also offer a free pancake Bfast daily from 8−10am, and believe or not, they’re pretty decent. As far as bathrooms and showers go, they’re nasty. They really need to clean them more! The showerheads barely spray and the shower stalls are dirty and slimy. One of the other drawbacks are their prices. The prices are a little steep and they nickel and dime you for everything. They charge you daily to park your car, bring a pet, kids, etc… It kinda gets your head spinning… lol In closing, with all the pros and cons, the Monroe KOA is a pretty decent time. Sitting around a bonfire, cooking out, and spending quality time with your loved ones is what makes this place special. We will most likely be back next year…

Can I give 0 stars? It’s like a cest pool for sickeness and infection here. Kids, c’mon, don’t swim in the water(aka the«beach») here. It’s just gross, and you might come out of the water with an extra toe. Also the 6 dollar charge for a few hours? Get real. However, it can be FUN people watching if nothing else, while enjoying a cold adult beverage.
