I’ve only had the pulled pork, and it was very good, though not sublime. Definitely a cool place in the area.

Honestly the best ribs I have ever eaten from a restaurant. The fried Moon Pie was also delicious.

Outstanding BBQ convenient to 95?! Yes please! Such a great find through Unilocal, and instantly a must-go on every trip through town. Though it was a little hard to find(go around to the street parallel to Bank, to the north), man we were glad we did. Look for the wood pile(a must for any self-respecting BBQ joint). The décor is solidly industrial chic, with tables built from repurposed pipes topped with reclaimed wood. Service was prompt and friendly, though decidedly hipster. They have an insane beer selection that we did not sample, opting instead for the outstanding half-sweet tea that was the perfect blend of sweet and unsweetened tea. Two of us, with eyes bigger than our stomachs until we willed our stomachs to expand, ordered a half rack of ribs, and a half chicken, along with sides of mac-n-cheese, a small fry, and slaw. Everything was outstanding. The ribs are full on ribs, not baby back. You can get the sauce on the side, but don’t. This sauce is tangy and spicy; just the right combo of sweet and heat. The meat had the tell-tale pink smoke ring from a proper prep. The meat was not quite fall-off-the-bone, but for me it was just right. I typically prefer baby back but I’m not complaining! The chicken was perfectly tender as well, and enormous. The sides of mac and slaw were pretty small, but ended up being plenty. The mac had I think the pork seasoning in it, which turned it a funny shade of brown, but it was still delicious. The slaw was choc full of cilantro and I believe vinegar-based. Refreshing and crisp. The«small» fries were an enormous portion of their seasoned fries, and shocker, they too were delicious. My ladyfriend somehow saved room for the s’mores cheesecake(graham cracker crust, and topped with lightly toasted marshmallows). It took a while to come out, but that’s because they were making it fresh. Amazingly delicious. We loved everything so much we bought the T-shirt, and a hat. Always a good sign.

Great location for travelers right off I-95 in Petersburg. This is bbq done right, very good pulled pork sandwich and ribs. I love how they put a unique spin on the side dishes. The coleslaw, beans, and mac and cheese are all excellent. The smoked chicken chili is also very good.

This was our second time eating here. I always order the ribs because they are out of this world! Highly recommended! The hangup I have is the eat/in part of the restaurant. It was quite cold outside when we ate and just as cold inside the restaurant. The front door allows a ton of cold air to come in making it very uncomfortable. Attention needs to be put on comfort while eating. Lastly — side dishes. I would like to see more vegetables added to the side — availability. There is no greens or green beans! Too many carbs. I would have given the restaurant a four star review if the ambience and Side dishes were a little better!

Honestly came here for the food because everyone I spoke to told me how great it was. Service is great, the food presentation looked delicious, and so is the décor. But despite the presentation, I was not a fan. Tried the half rack ribs — which was huge. The bbq sauce was too tangy and the ribs was completely filled with fat. Also tried the pork sandwich which I recommend so much more than the ribs, it was actually ok. Which makes sense because that’s what they were recognized for. For the sides got macaroni and cheese– which was dry and no cheese taste? Never had macaroni and cheese like that before. The beans were very different just an odd taste, also did not like that. The potato salad was decent with chunks of potato, but the fries were def good. I was expecting too much based on others views, but I won’t be coming here anymore just because I didn’t like the food, but to each it’s own. Perhaps you will find it delicious and have different taste buds. I suggest trying it, but not buying too much like we ended up doing and then being disappointed. If you end up loving it then you can go ham!

Holy smokes(Appropriately crafted during a Christmas road trip !!) Granted I’m writing this before our food’s here, but the smell of bbq is what dragged us here(literally, cause we just ate). now I’m watching people eat and my stomach is quickly digesting previous food. cause I am going to eat some ribs, bbq chicken, ¼ leg with mac and cheese in next few hours. hallelujah!

Found on Unilocal 3.25 stars for the food Rounded way up to four stars I LOVED the way this place LOOKS! MEN out numbered Women almost 10 — 1 ! Industrial Themed Décor(I wish Back Valley in Wake Forest looked this Good!!! I wish ANYWHERE looked this Good! I LOVED the Construction of the Tables! Service was sweet and helpful Barbecue was a good, not great, not bad «Saucy» YES in a BAD way! I have has BBQ like this before and it is usually not my preference The hot sauce was not hot at all and tasted like Cayenne pepper mixed with a simple common base that tasted WORSE than ANY Bottled Sauce! Usually it is EASY to make a GREAT Sauce with CHEAP Ingredients and I LOVE most of those Simple Recipes ! This one needs to be Discarded! NOT revamped… THROWNOUT!!! The Slaw Sounded good(I did not eat any, though if I return I will be checking it out!) Pineapple Juice and Cilantro with(I assume) Cabbage? They have: : Ribs(another reason for me to return) Fried Moon Pie Fries my eBay Bride might like BBQed Chicken

Yes. Really excellent BBQ. Definitely worth the trip off the highway, if you’re driving anywhere near Richmond. I had pulled chicken, and it was moist and full of flavor. Also tried the pulled pork, which was good too. They have a large variety of meats: my friend got an absurd amount of food: the ribs, pulled pork, and brisket, and they were all great. Also tried the Brunswick stew-esque Mac and cheese with meat in it, which was a standout. I got my pulled chicken sandwich with coleslaw; you can also get it with spicy sauce. Each meat seems to have their own specifically designed sauce! Sides of Mac and cheese and sweet potatoes were great. Our waitress was fantastic, explained everything, gave great recommendations, and was patient. You sit down and have a waiter, but order on a paper slip like with sushi. Really positive and memorable experience. I wish I lived nearby so I could go there all the time, but as it is I will be stopping every time I have to drive through Richmond!

In what used to be an old showroom for the type of cars you only see anymore in classic movies, my buddies and I found out precisely what the people of Petersburg have probably known for a few years. Saucy’s is legit. During the span of three days and 700 miles of round trip driving, we stopped twice and never second guessed our decision to do so. This place ticks all the checkboxes for what constitutes a great restaurant… barbecue or otherwise. The staff is friendly. The setting has a ton of character. The owners are local and engaged with their customers. And the food I can’t say enough about, but three items in particular stood out to me. Pulled pork(aka pork butt) sandwich with cole slaw and hot sauce: The sandwich was tender, tangy, and the main reason why justifying my next business trip south has become my top priority next week. Mac & Cheese: I grew up believing that real mac and cheese came from a box with a packet of orange powder conveniently placed inside. A couple of bites into Saucy’s twist on this standard fare and I conclude that my childhood was a sham. Moon Fry(deep fried moon pie): It’s insanely good and comes with a scoop of ice cream. Split it with someone and mark that moment in your calendar. The day should be celebrated like any other major life event. More people need to hear about Saucy’s, which has the potential to be the first of many for the owners.

Let me start off by saying the con ex box scared me. Now last night was my first time stopping by after reading reviews on Unilocal. This place is in my back door so to speak and I’m sorry it took me so long to try it. Haven’t had ribs since famous Dave’s but this was well worth every dime. I had the ½ rack st. Louis dry with the 3 bean combo with Mac n cheese and a Christmas Ale to drink. Can’t believe I spent $ 8 on a single beer but it was special went well with my dinner. Now I have a new rib joint to enjoy!!! Thanks.

Nice presentation, concept, and atmosphere but I realized I’m not into the tomato based BBQ. It’s still pretty good though and worth trying.

Meh, it was pretty good. Good beer selection. I had the ribs, good but they needed a little more cooking. Mac and cheese was good as well as the sweet potatoes. Service was good, even though i think she was working a little to hard for her tip flirting with my buddy. Cheers!

After reading the Unilocal reviews here I thought I was in for a treat. I had the ribs, and I was sorely disappointed. The meat was way tougher then any other rib I’ve ever had; but it was good once I tore it from the bone. The sauce and rub was great and not too tangy or spicy and just how I like it. Service was okay, I had to go up to the register to ask if we ordered there or if we had table service but after that our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable. They had some really good beer options. I’d like for them to start serving Sausage and Brisket and would likely be back daily once they start. Overall I’d go back to give it another try.

What a great dining experience craving BBQ heard about Saucy’s and decided to try it with a friend our waitress was very knowledgeable; shout out to Melanie!!! I ordered the barbecue sandwich my friend ordered the side of ribs with the mashed sweet potatoes and it was simply delicious the coleslaw was perfect on the barbecue sandwich a little dry as a side it was a vinegar based with very little dressing but work well with the sandwich Don’t leave without trying the deep fried moon pie with salted caramel glaze over vanilla ice cream it was amazing can’t wait to go back!

Saw this place featured in a couple of local magazines and it did not disappoint. They had a half rack of ribs and chicken combination special that evening and for the price I couldn’t say no. Great selection of Virginia craft beers of that is what you are looking for.
