Quintessential country store that has been beautifully rehabilitated. The sandwiches, soups and other food is tremendous — exceptional for the area. The produce and foodstuff in the store is all local and great quality. Absolutely worth the trek to Petersham for a visit. Support local!

Oh yum, love this place. They make really good pressed wraps and their blueberry brioche French toast is delish. Love the country store as well with organic type goodies and locally made products.

The Petersham Country Store is the community hub. I go in there on a regular basis, and I always bump into somebody I know and get to hear talk of the town. Their building is owned by North Quabbin Land Trust in a landmark move to support conservation through building markets for farmers that grow on that land [similar to Quabbin Valley Harvest in Orange]. Due to this partnership, they have a 70% local commitment, which can be seen throughout their store from their beer section to their children’s toys. Ari of Picasso’s is the lead guy at the store and has brought back the spirit I remember from my childhood. The food is delicious and they have enough staples for basic grocery runs.

My friend heard about the great blueberry baked french toast so we went to check it out after a retreat at nearby & amazing Barre Center for Buddhist Studies. We were delighted to discover not just an amazing place for breakfast at the country store, with many veggie options for non-bacon eaters. As well, this is an adorable store with some super healthy & fresh products that are hard to find even in busy cities. For breakfast, I had egg and cheese sandwich on fresh and delicious bread(may have been panini bread) and tasted what others had. All delicious. We then wandered around the store and got many great gifts & treats. They also had antiques but I went for hand-crafted gifts made by locals, all-natural lotions and cookies and even ginger beer cookies and some amazing coffee beans from Africa that my friends loved so much that I was prompted to call to get more.

Literally one of my favorite restaurants. They have a new special every day, and all of their food is fresh and locally sourced depending on the time of year. The cost is an incredible value, and I love bringing visiting friends here for the incredible local fare in a cozy and warm environment. Seriously a little gem in the Quabbin crown. The pumpkin soup, vegan chili, Cubano sandwich, and incredibly whimsical sodas they stock make for an incredible lunch for under $ 20 for two.

Have been here three times for breakfast in the past few months, and each time has been great. Most recently, my wife and I each had the egg sandwich on ciabatta bread — fluffy egg, tasty melted cheese, ciabatta bread is wonderful. We’ve also had the blueberry baked French toast(small portion, but a gourmet delight), spinach triangle(flaky, delicate crust), and home fries(the only thing we didn’t like — tiny greasy cubes of fried potato). Dean’s Beans coffee is a treat! Petersham Country Store is a unique and special place. Can’t wait to go back.

Absolutely what you’d hope it would be walking in. New owners seem to be the best ones for this amazing little store. Great New England town, great story behind this country store, and finally a great reason to visit often. Feel good contributing to this places success by stopping in, and you will not be disappointed.

Wonderful experience stopped in twice now for breakfast burrito & coffee. Super friendly people make me feel like I am at home with family. Ambiance truly a country store. Burrito huge for only $ 5. Had to save half for dinner. If in neighborhood a must stop.

So many great things to say! Emphasis on local foods is a major highlight. Haven’t had anything on the menu or specials that I didn’t love. Generous portions. The take and bake pizza is incredible, not the normal everyday toppings but there’s a plain option for fussy folks. Currently TH, Fri and Sat for pizza but rumored to expand days in the future. Great little supply of groceries, from necessities to specialities. WONDERFUL option for the locals!

In this very rural, off-the-beaten path area, this place is a gem. I was so happy they opened up again. This is a great place to rest and have brunch, snacks after school with your kids, or just go shopping for local goods. They really preserved the historic Quabbin-area feel of the old establishment after re-opening, with lots of antiques and tin tiles, wooden floor etc. This place is both lively and peaceful at the same time. The food is amazing. I haven’t tried everything here yet, but they have a great selection of local produce, breads, dairy, maple products, and more high-end crafts/gifts in the far section of the store. The selection is enough that I can actually do a light grocery shopping trip here, and the prices are reasonable. I absolutely love Ari’s tzaziki sauce, homemade boursin cheese(with local goat cheese and fresh herbs), their take-and-bake pizzas, and homemade radicchio and cream cheese ravioli. Their strada and in-house baked cookies are also great. I live around this area, and there aren’t a whole lot of cool places to go when you don’t feel like driving a long way. Petersham is a great town to visit, and now I actually have an excuse to go here more often! I have only two small things I’d change about it: 1) serve brunch later on weekends! It ends at 11. Even noon would be great! And 2) please serve ice cream! They do have a cooler with the usual pre-fab frozen treats, but it would be so fantastic if I could come here with my family after a Quabbin hike, and grab a cone or sundae? Even if they only had a couple of flavors, it would be perfect! Otherwise, THISISMYNEWHAPPYPLACE!

An excellent café and grocery selection. Their deli items are outstanding. Ari is super helpful in learning how to use new products or old ones in a new way! I love that they are there and am super grateful. Excellent gluten-free sandwiches available. They are delicious. Lots of options. The marinated chicken thighs are great to take and cook yourself. Enjoy!!!

The Country Store is great place to grab a meal or meet friends. I enjoyed a great hummus and chicken sandwich(the special of the day) and some excellent coleslaw — not swimming in dressing with subtle spices and golden raisins for a little sweetness. The store now has frozen yogurt with a variety of toppings, baked goods, and a selection of local meats and produce. And a small wine/beer section too. Unique cards and gifts in the back. All you need in one stop!

So thrilled with the re-opening of the country store! It’s absolutely perfect. All renovated inside which creates a warm and welcoming yet fresh atmosphere. All local products, scrumptious baked goods and friendliest owner and staff around. So happy to see this anchor in the community back on the map and better than one could imagine. Congratulations to the whole team that made this happen

Growing up in Petersham, The Country Store was many things. It was a central place to meet up with friends. It was the only«convenience store» that was in biking range. They rented VHS movies and had ice cream(which was given away for free on Halloween night, much to our adolescent pleasure). Its changed hands quite a few times in recent years, and no one has found a way to keep the place economically viable. Its unfortunate, as the store in its last iteration did not seem to get a whole lot of community support. If the building is repurposed, hopefully the next owners will find a combination that works.

All of the coffee on offer in this charming store is from Dean’s Beans. It is certified organic and fair-trade. When the land and the farmers are respected, the coffee is the best. Buy beans by the pound or enjoy a cup with the fresh baked goods in a very charming dining room. We had delicious sandwiches during our visit. After a lunch or snack, you can browse the eclectic offerings of wine, beer, gifts, and clothes. The store is in an historic building, and the aim of the store is to support the mission and projects of the Polus Center, a global leader in advocating for persons with disabilities.
