As one of the few and privileged first employees of Latitude 45 I feel inclined, even today 15 years later, to support my Latitude 45 family. Christian and the team that run the shop today are enthusiasts of the equipment and sports they sell, and aren’t there just to sell; they’re there to make sure people are outfitted with exactly what they need, nothing more and nothing less. I’m giving them 5 stars because I care about shopping local and supporting small business as well as the fact that the service you’ll get here is second to none.

I rented a road bike for 3 days this week. I think I got a pretty good deal and the service was way above par. I had contacted the shop by email a month or so prior and got personal response from Chris McKay. When I walked in the shop he knew who I was and set me up with the bike I wanted. I highly recommend the shop. My only regret is that I did not bring my own seat bag, with flat repair stuff and multi tool. I did not need them but would have felt better if I had them. The bike trail to Charlevoix is great in the early AM, about a 40 mile RT.

I’m writing this review based on my experience as a tourist renting a bike. I would describe the service as excellent and hang loose. Not a hassle to rent the bikes, I called a week previous to my trip and they were expecting me and had the road bikes I needed. They put the spd pedals on and did some adjusting and fitting and we were on the road within an hour. Road from Petoskey almost to Charlevoix on the«wheelway». It was a great pathway and I’m not sure exactly how many miles it was, but I would recommend doing it in at least half a day and spend some time in Charlevoix watching the boats. Anyway, back to Latitude 45, They have complete bike service and sell some other sports equipment too. They had road bikes available(mine were Giant brand) and many bike rentals don’t have road bikes but these guys do. They included a lock with the rental. There is parking available around the shop. It is located on a main street and easy to find. I came with my own portable bike rack which I mounted to my rental car. Then we drove up to Harbor Springs and rode the tunnel of trees the next day.

I rented two bicycles from Latitude 45 while on vacation in Petoskey in late August. Unlike other shops from which I’ve rented in the past, Latitude 45 had a number of different bicycles available. I ended up with a terrific Giant road bike and my girlfriend got a terrific, very-light hybrid. I paid slightly more for the road bike but it was well worth it. Service was excellent and the guys running the store on that day helped us choose the bikes, adjust them, etc. and they had plenty of patience with our requests to get the settings just right. I would highly recommend this shop.
