Our group of 4 people went for lunch and enjoyed the tenderloin sliders, 2 orders of crab cake sliders, and a burger. Everything tasted great. Server was very pleasant. The view of the lake is nice. Overall we enjoyed our visit and plan to return.

Amazing service for a Friday night! We didn’t have a reservation (they Actually Take reservations on Friday) but only waited 15– 20 minutes. Once seated our waitress was amazing engaging and we waited for nothing! Food was split… I had the pan fried walleye which was perfectly cooked, with a wonderful sweet flavor, my husband had the Perch, which did not really measure up… He said they were tough and dry, going as far as calling it fish jerky, but his Potato pancake (a $ 2 upcharge) was Very good. I tried it and thought it was one of the best I’ve had. This was our second time dining here, and previously had great food and service as well. All in all we will be back, just not for perch.

Just walked out of The Golden Anchor for the first time. The waitress Kris was incredibly snotty and condescending. Certainly not the welcoming atmosphere I remember from my childhood … Very sad.
As I was writing this … Dennis came out to take a picture of my car and license plate for not paying for my kiddie cocktail … And threatened to call the police on us several times. We said how much are the drinks … He said five bucks, so we paid him the five bucks for the drinks that were just delivered and never drank. Even after we paid he still said he was going to call the police «so we don’t do this to any other restaurant on the lake.»
Needless to say, I encourage others to find other restaurants in the area to patronize as clearly the staff at the Golden Anchor doesn’t value customers.

We visited when they first opened 9 months ago. short staffed and still getting things together, we understood the hiccups… we returned two weeks ago, and still no improvement. While we were able to secure a table online and seated right away, we waited 15 minutes without a waitress. when my fiancée went to the bar for a drink, the waitress ventured over to the table and became confrontational. After having one sip of our drink, she wanted an order. NOT even knowing the specials… We ordered as she was impatient. We received cold food and really not up to par. We were in and out within an hour… they clearly wanted to turn the table fast. When I expressed my concern, the hostess was in the middle of dealing with an issue that someone was parked in due to a confusing parking lot while trying to explain they are short staffed… still? We will not be back.

Our family loves the place, best fish fry of all the area places. The tenderloin sandwich are better than the regular steak! We are weekly regulars now. Prime rib is real good as well. Good place, good food and good help!

Went a couple of weeks ago. Food was very good. French onion soup was yummy, as was the fish fry. Had the perch. Large portions! Much improved from previous owners. Only downside was the noise level. That will probably prevent us from coming back during dinner hours. Something needs to be done about that. When you can’t hear the waitress describing specials or have to talk so loud in order to be heard something’s wrong. While a pressed tin ceiling looks nice, it only adds to the din.

Not worth it, especially for what we paid. Most of the food was just average. But my crab cake sandwich was awful! Complete mush! I couldn’t even eat it. We also tried the potato skins appetizer, a burger, mozzarella sticks & the grouper sandwich. We probably won’t be back.

The third time was a charm. 1^st time, the fish was good but the potato and salad were not. 2^nd visit, the fish and potato were good but the salad was not. Third time all three were very good. We had a group of 12 this past Friday night. They are still working out a few kinks on service but the people were friendly and accommodating. Reasonably priced and very good quality.

Crab cake sandwich was delicious! Waitress Riley was a DELIGHT! Hardest working and most friendly waitress we have seen in a while. We will go back both for the food and for her! Key lime pie and flourless chocolate cake both worth every calorie.
