Very nice service and great food. I would not go on daily basis but occasionally yes. Very attentive owner. Keep up!

For a first timer, the food was pretty great. I was a little hesitate at first, but I’m glad I decided to give it a shot. I only gave it 4 stars because it wasn’t worth 50 $ in my opinion.

A hidden gem in Pflugerville! I’ve never had Ethiopian food before and this place was suggested to me by a colleague and I was not disappointed! Immediately upon walking in, we had been greeted by two of the servers who were very professional and spoke very calmly. We let them know we had never had Ethiopian food and they were very helpful with their suggestions, suggesting the tibbs in particular. The lamb and zilzil tibbs were both very delicious! The food is not served with utensils(unless requested), they are eaten with your hands using bread and it was a fun experience: made me feel like a kid again playing with my food. The tibbs tasted very clean and I thoroughly enjoyed them. The décor is simple, yet feels very homey. The walls have some African art and the colors all blend nicely. I’ll definitely be back to try more of what they have to offer!

1 star for false advertising: Their website touts their«vegetarian lunch buffet», but it’s not vegetarian, it has chicken. We made the long trip to Pflugerville specifically so we could have the experience of a lunch without having to see or think about dead animals. If we wanted to go to a non-vegetarian Ethiopian buffet, would could have stayed in Austin, where there’s one such restaurant within walking distance of us. To be clear, my complaint is not that they chose to offer a non-vegetarian buffet; restaurants are free to serve whatever they want. The problem is that they ADVERTISE it as vegetarian when it’s not.

Ethiopian food is one of those things that you kinda have to try, at least once in your life. Whereas not long ago sushi and Indian food were rare things to find in Texas, they’re more common place today. With any luck Ethiopian food will join them, as it’s delicious, and in the case of Taste of Ethiopia when it’s served in a great setting there’s nothing not to like. So, first things first, you’re gonna be eating with your hands. Much like the aforementioned sushi wherein you use chopsticks, at an Ethiopian place your digits will be tucking into the food. Specifically, you’ll be wrapping everything up in a spongy little sourdough flat-bread that’s amazing. I could eat it all day. We tried the appetizer sampler, which provided a nice amount of various dishes, and then a bevvy of main courses. Their house specialty kitfo was very flavorful and seasoned perfectly. I also liked the Doro Wot. My one complaint is that the night we went they had no honey wine :(How you gonna have an Ethiopian place with no honey wine?! That being said, I’ll just take it as an excuse to come back and eat here again!

Now, this is what I call a hidden gem!!! The place is very tastefully decorated with simple, African decorations. The food is delicious! Fresh and very appetizing. Served on a large plate filled with Ethiopian bread that you tear off and scoop served food. It is a great place for vegans, vegetarians and meat lovers. Spices are so surprising! I am mouthwatering writing this review. Another great attribute is service: very polite, not overbearing but very attentive to the customer. I love this place! It is a must for everyone visiting Austin It is about 15 – 20 min from downtown so no problem with parking and totally worth the drive!

So I have a problem… I don’t know how to express how wonderful this place is that makes all of their amazing food(and bread) from scratch. Perhaps the best way to explain what I think of it is through an anecdote — After moving to the area, I ate here four times in my first week. Too good. For the love of everything holy go here and eat. Unilocal wants me to say more, but there’s really not much else to say.

I can now say I’ve been here for lunch and dinner in one day. I am in love. The buffet I had for lunch was full of veggies and the chicken legs, the meat just fell off the bone. ******** ******** ******** ********** My ADD flared up when I was writing this, I have now been here at least 5 – 6 times. And I really just want to say, try it all. You won’t be disappointed Try the coffee. Try the Tibbs, try the veggie combo, try the wot. Everything is amazing. There’s an app with cottage cheese and spinach, spicy snd perfect.

Great service. Guy was attentive and descriptive. Food presentation was to impress. I dream of delicious Ethiopian food because my sister says it’s good. I had it once, but only tried the meat dish, so I decided to return to get a more comprehensive experience. We had a goat dish, with a bunch of different veggies. I enjoyed the lentils– reminded me of the delicious costco microwavable lentil soup I shared with my sister some moons back. However, when it comes to ethnic cuisines that are rare to find, I’m picky. I like spices, and I like flavors. Ethiopian food has that, but it’s missing depth. Maybe they forgot the MSG that subliminally urges you to come back. And the whole time I was there, I imagined the food as a filler for the stomach(injiera), and that’s what I did during the whole experience– pretend I was in Ethiopia, watching my food cook itself in the heat. It’s all good. For an experience, this was great. Prices are more expensive than Indian food, which I’ll compare it to here in cuisine, especially when I’m paying for variations of cooked vegetables. I give it a 2 for chance of me giving Ethiopian another shot, but a 5 for the experience. Somehow we end up with 4 stars.

Ethiopian food never made it to the top of my list before I ate here. I’ve been for the lunch buffet and ordered a variety of items off the menu and it is consistently delicious. I highly recommend ordering a sampler meal and sharing family-style. You are seated around a round basket with a large pancake-style bread(injera) topped with a variety of dishes. You then gently unroll more injera for sopping, dipping and gobbling your meal. The experience definitely fosters lively, interesting conversation. The waitstaff is also very gracious and pleasant. All around fantastic restaurant.

This was my first foray into Ethiopian food and Taste of Ethiopia made me a believer. This place lives up to its hype. We got a beef dish and lamb dish(off the menu, not buffet) served in a bright woven basket sans silverware, but with this unique crêpe-bread rolls. I’m sure there’s a technical term for it, but I was too hungry to take note. Anyways, the food was amazing and the service friendly and great. This place is now part of my lunch rotation. I highly recommend it!
