Gorditas Dona Tere

You see a lot of Mexican fast food places here in the valley, and mos of them are mediocre at best. This place is awesome. It is a nice blend of interior Mexican food and Tex Mex. For example they make crispy tacos, but they deep fry the shells old style Tex Mex way and make a great ground beef filing, but top it with fresh white Mexican queso fresco. I had their gorditas and they were great, made with masa de maiz (nixtamal) not with maseca and the filing were awesome. They serve Menudo and Pozole, but I haven’t tried them yet, as well as tortas, chile relleno and sopes. They have 3 locations, one on Cage in Pharr close to the expressway, another on Nolana in McAllen close to the theatre and another on Raul Longoria in San Juan.
