Quaint and beautiful dining room. Excellent and friendly service with down home meals. A lovely experience.

The food was very good tasting and the portions were excellent. The service was very good, every need we had was taken care of quickly. The décor is a little out dated but warm and inviting. We had a good experience and will return.

I have been going to the Phelps Hotel on and off for 30+ years. I don’t recall ever having a bad meal there. Years ago my employer used their back meeting room quite frequently for meetings, dinners, etc. I have been at a number of wedding receptions there and all were wonderful. The last time I ate dinner in the main dining room the food and service were good as usual. The chairs were so worn that you sink into them when you sat down. These are the only chairs I ever remember seeing in this restaurant in 30 years. Recently I attended a private party in the back room. It’s my first time in that room in 10 years. It smelled dirty and musty when I walked in. The carpet on the floor was torn and worn and visibly dirty. If they want to maintain the reputation they’ve had for years they need to fix this immediately; it was commented on by many at the event.

I had an abbreviated experience. I was attending a small meeting in a small back room in what I can assume is the basement bar area? It’s my story and I’m sticking to it. There were a few ceiling tiles that could have been replaced and the table linens, although fresh, were stained. We had a few menu items to pick from. We started with soup or side salad, I chose salad, and although not fancy or exotic the produce was fresh and attractively plated. For dinner I had a mixed vegetable, twice baked potato and ribeye. It was all cooked well, again no show stoppers but no disappointment either. The service was attentive and super friendly.

Went here for dinner last week. haven’t been in years. My first impression was the absolutely filthy reataurant carpet which also smelled horrible(I don’t know why a restaurant would put a carpet in a dining room. years of spills are going to stink) but we were there to eat. We were pleasantly greeted by a wonderful waitress who was great in every sense. They had local wines and beers which we enjoyed. Chairs were old and worn, so a little uncomfortable. Our food was really prepared well, hot and tasty. I wouldn’t go back because of the carpet and depressing décor, but the food was good.

Went here years ago for am Easter Brunch they husseled us to a large back party room with abundant and thick curtains all along the walls of the windowless room. I felt like cattle. School cafeteria style seating that equaled the massive quantities of low quality food. Anything that may have been remotely decent was long gone. It was just nasty. Maybe the regular food is better because it really couldn’t be worse.
