This place is amazing. I am not sure why there are posts saying they are rude. I have had the best customer service at this pharmacy. I was in between jobs and had no insurance, I went to the CVS and rite-aid and was quoted a really high price for a medicine my wife needs. I heard about 18th Street Apothecary and decided to give them a try. Their price was a fraction of the other stores. I would highly recommend you stop by and try them for yourself. I walk a couple of blocks to this place even though I can stop at a Big-name store on my way home. It is worth the friendliness and courtesy this location gives you.

Really quite rude and utterly unhelpful. After being charged nearly twice the amount other pharmacies charge, I inquired if there had been a mistake with the price. I was curtly told that I could have my prescription back and take it to another pharmacy if I wanted.

The staff is phenomenal! Super professional and oh so personal service. The young man behind the counter extremely friendly and personable. I feel like I’ve known him for years.

Wow — can we say, rude, or moreover, condescending. Of course the latter is even worse when you’re speaking of services that are in the medical realm. The owner seemed pleasant on the phone, but as for his staff, it’s quite unfortunate. I would not have put the young man there today in contact with dogs, let alone people.

I had a very bad cough and was awaiting my doctor to call in a prescription pending a throat swab result. We saw this small apothecary and stopped in. The pharmacist made a recommendation, and as it was the last day of February, and the syrup had an expiry date of 2/13, gave me the bottle. He wouldn’t take a dime for it nor would he even let me give him a contribution for a charity(I gave $ 20 to the American Red Cross as a tribute to this guy and his very friendly dog). Now that’s the kind of customer service you’re not going to get in a Drugstore conglomerate.

Rachel, Ken, and Steve really care about you. If you want personal service and a pleasant staff that smiles and greets you by name, go here. Otherwise, if you like long lines, disinterested techs, swamped pharmacists who don’t care about you, and no services, continue with your big box pharmacy. If there’s a problem with insurance, 18th Street Apothecary calls, rather that passing he buck to you. Their prices are competitive, if not lower than big stores. Individual pharmacies, like 18th Street Apothecary, participate in a large buying group that works with drug companies to get better rates. I should have switched years ago…

I loved this place from the minute I walked in. I can’t believe how refreshed I was by the the friendly staff and«easy listening» radio station playing quietly. reminds me sooo much of the pharmacy I grew up with in the suburbs(which I am SO sad to report closed this month… after 50+ years… due to an unnecessarily huge Walgreens opening less than a block away) anyway…the people who work here are so welcoming and nonjudgmental that I will be transferring my prescriptions here, from the CVS on 15th St. whose pharmacy staff members, for the most part, are rude and unprofessional. I really wish they had more weekend hours(=only Saturdays, and ONLY til 3pm!) but I think that’s with most independent pharmacies. *for anyone who hasn’t been here: keep an eye out for they’re little shop because it’s easy to miss!

I know non-chain pharmacies exist in New York, but they’re few and far between so I’m always relying on the über-convenience of Duane Reade. So when I stepped in to 18th Street Apothecary in Philly, I couldn’t help but verbal-diarrhea at the guy behind the counter about how cool it was to shop at, and support, non-chain business. Poor guy, and all for a sale of a two dollar chap stick.

Nice, small, independently run pharmacy — which I always love to see. Picked up a few sundries here. A bit pricey — but so convenient. And it’s NOT a CVS! HA! Glad to have you in the nabe!
