University City’s premier location for health violations and intoxicated undergraduates! (Roaches. Oh my god, the roaches.)

Minimal wait times, decent pizza(though sometimes too greasy). I usually go for the spinach, tomato and mozarella slice.

Where to start? How about the lurching and heaving crowds of drunken undergraduates who frequent this place after having already hurled in the frat houses next door? Often, I’ll find their vomit lining the pavement next to Allegro’s and they don’t seem to mind at all. In fact, it seems they scrape that vomit and lather it as a substitute for cheese on their plastic textured, pathetic excuse for pizza. If it’s not the ingredients, then they either burn or overcook the pizza, never in between. I always reasoned they might’ve been busy so I’ll give them one more chance and besides, a 24⁄7 pizza place sounds amazing. But it seems that the establishment itself is not interested in gaining the trust or approval of their customers. I once saw a cashier hand two slices to a homeless guy(he had paid btw) who then accidentally dropped them. Instead of helping him, the girl behind the counter tried to suffocate her giggles. Everybody else, including me, tried helping the poor dude but he quickly threw away his pizza and scurried out of the place. They don’t take credit cards under $ 10, they’re not accurate with their time estimation, and their menu offers nothing that the next fast food place doesn’t offer. So, no, I would not suggest giving them a try.

This is a great place to grab slices. Although the slices are big and generous, the quality really is what you pay for. It’s not bad, but a cheap alternative if you’re really drunk. Big beer selection. Buffalo chicken and classic pepperoni are pretty solid. I like the fact that they have self-serve peppers and a buffalo sauce dispenser. Not a fan of the garlic knots. I don’t taste the garlic at all; for me, it’s like paying for little pieces of bland bread.

The service was awful, I had to wait well over an hour, and it was extremely expensive for cold pizza and mozzarella sticks.

I and two coworkers were working in West Philly, and someone recommended Allegro Pizza, so we went there. The fare is typical Philly steak and pizza menu, but the execution is great and the portions are huge. The large boli is enough for at least 2(and maybe 4) people. If you’re in the Penn university neighborhood, stop in. If you’re not in the neighborhood, drive there. Even at noon, we found(metered) street parking right away. We dined outside on the sidewalk and watched the pedestrian traffic going by.

If you just want a cheap, simple piece of NYC style pizza, it does the trick. It’s not Picas. Don’t have high expectations and you will be satisfied.

Good pizza at a reasonable price in University City. The crust is crunchy in the outside and soft on the inside, my favorite. There are a good number of options, including buffalo, Sicilian, and barbeque. The one downside is that whenever I get a slice, the pizza is lukewarm at best. Even when I ask for it to be hot, the person says okay and takes the pizza out after 15 seconds of putting it in. When I buy pizza, I expect for it to be hot.

Deeply disappointed that allegro didn’t post that they are closed for renovations. we were visiting penn to see about attending here and picked Allegro for the on campus vibe… what a bust!

good food, and superfast delivery. I love the tomato pie– its smokey, sweet and delicious. White pizza is good, and not too greasy, though it lacks the ricotta that I love. Hoagies are good too.

Good pizza, not a good customer service. Check inside the box to see if it is the correct topping when delivered.

Gotta give credit where it’s due… It’s almost an obligation that every pizza place have some sort of «premium cheese fries» …usually that means cheddar, mozzarella, swiss, bacon, and ranch/ceasar dressing give or take. Everybody has something like this with their own name attached… mega fries, super fries, ultimate fries, and in the case of Allegro… Allegro House Fries. Wow… in all my years Allegro is the only place that is SERIOUS about bacon. I really couldn’t believe it. It’s really cool that they got this right because I guess given the area… its«college food» and the only other guys who come anywhere close also had«college food» only Temple’s campus. I’ve been out of Temple for years now so that other place is just a memory, but Allegro is here and now… and still in my neck of the woods. I’ll have to get back here more often.

We only tried this place after driving past it so many times and we weren’t missing anything! Completely average pizza shop. Nothing on the menu really stands out. I gave it three simply because of its location and how fast they have your order ready. For how many other amazing pizza places that are near by, I’m surprised they always have so many people in there. If it weren’t for it being in the middle of a college campus, I really don’t think they’d be that popular. Mediocre in my opinion.

Known to the local college crowd as «the party for those who can’t find a party,» Allegro’s is usually packed on weekend nights with frat hoppers, drunken revelers, and the occasional studious bloke taking a late night study break. One thing that I’ve noticed in my several years of visiting this spot is that if you visit it at night, the pizza tastes amazing! 6⁄5 stars. Three or four slices of the buffalo chicken just isn’t enough. Visit it during the day time, though, and the pizza is very mediocre. It’s not terrible, but it’s definitely far from the best there is. Their plain cheese slices are OK, but the dough and cheese taste rather bland. All-in-all, not a bad place in a pinch, and definitely one of the better places open at 1am on a Friday night, but overall not the best place for pizza on campus.

Great late night hang out spot for college students! You’re served fast and given very generous portions as well. Although it does get a bit crowded and noisy, that is only to be expected given their location. I ordered wings and a side of fries. Both were very standard in taste, though they were not bland. Regardless of the flavor, they do give you a lot of food. If you ask for an order of fries, they fill an entire rectangular Styrofoam container full of them. In terms of drinks,(quite surprisingly) they have an extensive beer selection. I will definitely be back here and highly recommend this place to any Penn or Drexel student before and after the party!

To be completely honest, their food is, in fact, very good. However, one of the male employees felt it necessary to harass me!!! I felt so uncomfortable. He continued to keep talking after I asked him to stop. Ladies: beware!

The prices are great, the flavor is awesome, but the delivery driver might want to be a bit more careful. I’ve included pics from pizzas I ordered for a work lunch a couple of months ago. We had to make a few major adjustments to the toppings before presenting to the Chief Executives…(I have ordered from them since with no problem) Still Allegro gets 4 stars from me for their good service, very nice salad, complimentary bread sticks & plates/utensils/napkins!

SUCH great customer service here! I live in California and wanted to surprise my boyfriend with a pizza with a pepperoni heart on it and Allegro Pizza was SO awesome to help me out. Osi was especially helpful over the phone and according to my boyfriend it was the best pizza he’s had in Philly. Can’t wait to eat there myself when I visit Philly!

It’s been about a year since the last time we ordered pizza from here and tonight reminded me why. The menu actually excited me a little — there were different pizza options(regular, Sicilian, and Neapolitan) so we went with a 14″ Allegro House Pizza and a 14″ Neapolitan cheese(figured we’d add our own fresh basil). First of all, there was no difference between the dough. The only thing I could tell was fundamentally different between the two pizzas was the amount and type of cheese. What’s the point of classifying your pizza differently on menu but not having any difference in reality? Quite bizarre. Marketing ploy I guess. Well you got me. Plus, most of the slices were just so poorly cut and oversized. Basically, I’m taking that as somebody couldn’t take 5 seconds to cut the pizza well. That’s just sloppy and it says«I don’t care about this product that I’m making and selling.» Toppings of the house pizza were pretty good but just way too much cheese for my liking. I really want to support the local pizza joints but I just can’t find good reasons to at this point. Unfortunately in this case, increased cost does not equate to better product.
