Arch Sewing Machine

My Tailor and I went in to look for 3 sewing machines for our new Cleaners we were opening, the manager Anthony was so helpful he gave us a package price and threw in free delivery. We were so pleased, they set up, tested and our new cleaners is up and running. The parts guy there Joe even put extra needles and supplies in drawer to start us off. Nice people, they even had free parking in Philadelphia which made it easy for us coming down to shop.

Bought a used Juki Walking Foot from a woman who bought it from Arch Street. She highly recommended Arch. So when I needed to buy a new presser foot, I decided I’d drive down and check out Arch. What a disappointment!
Someone «buzzed» me in. None of the four people sitting in the front reception area acknowledged me. I didn’t expect my appearance to be treated like the second coming of Christ, still, a small expression of greeting would have been appropriate. I mean, SOMEONE pushed the buzzer button, right?
So I stand there waiting for someone to say something. Nothing. Eventually I meander to the other side of the store, a dark, cluttered place with machines and parts and no descernable organization, but it’s a repair shop too, so I let my misgivings slide. I wait… I wait some more… another person enters the store and is promptly served by the owner. A regular, no doubt.
Eventually, the owner asks me what I want. No niceties. I have to remind myself this is a retail shop because it sure doesn’t feel like any retail establishment I’ve ever been in.
So I explain what I need. The owner isn’t listening to me and he tries to hand me the presser foot to a different machine. Nooo. That’s not what I asked for. At this point, the owner spins around and tells his sister to handle my transaction.
He was agitated because a computer system had gone awry and his on-​line pricing catalog was spewing out ridiculous prices.
Not my problem! His sister couldn’t really help answer a question about presser feet because she’s on the business side, not the sewing side.
I ended up pleading with the owner to give me one lousy minute of his precious time. Horrible. A miserable outing for a stinking presser foot that would have taken two minutes of average customer service, but instead it took twenty minutes of their b.s. His sister apologized. I liked her and I empathized with her situation, but they lost a customer.
I’ll take my business to Keystone from now on.
