Been going here a few years now and I like it a lot. I’m one of the few younger patients but always feel they are doing a great job. I’m always able to get a good pair of glasses for a reasonable price and their contact prices are pretty close to what you would find on the web.

Pros: they generally have available routine appointments without too long a wait they have sick visits for more urgent things available even sooner they have some online communication options they’re(relatively) timely and professional Cons: their online appointment request did not result in getting an appointment until I called them directly. And have had to wait on hold for 5 – 10 minutes just to get through to make appointments. Since I rarely have time during the work day to make a personal call, this is a bit inconvenient.

We went for glasses after asking our neighbor where she got hers. She has been getting them from the optician at Bloom Eye Associates for years. We were not disappointed! The styles are very up-to-date, funky, chic, etc. and they took our insurance which subsidized the purchase. They are $ 100’s cheaper than main st Manayunk or center city. With the money I saved I got a pair of sunglasses as well and my friend brought in frames from somewhere else and they gladly provided the lenses at a very good rate. They had later hours on Weds which was helpful to us. I really cannot recommend them highly enough as opticians. I got my eye exam from my own ophthalmologist so I don’t know about the eye doctor there. Note: they can be hard to locate– they are in the medical building across from the main Roxborough Hospital building.

Took my 5 yr old son in to see Dr.Pesce. The waiting room was full and they were running a little late, which I took to mean that they were taking their time with each patient. Dr.Pesce was lovely — thorough, efficient, patient with my wiggly-giggly boy. He hated the eye drops but then, don’t we all? His loud complaints were taken in stride and he was offered a small toy at the end for putting up with it all. She explained clearly to both of us what was going to happen, what was being done, and what to expect. At the end, she explained to me exactly what was going on with his eyes, how they were going to treat it, what the next step would be, and what other things they would be keeping an eye out for(no pun intended!). When we went to look at glasses, the woman was very nice to my son and offered opinions on the fit of various frames. Prices seemed typical of a bricks-and-mortar location. She kindly warned me that(generally) 5 yr old boys break their glasses all the time — I appreciated the honesty and the opportunity to start saving for replacements ASAP. There’s parking on the street, and ample parking in the lot out front. The lot costs $ 3 and they want you to put it in the machine as you go in, so take some crisp $ 1s with you. UPDATE: Parking was FREE when I drove by in Dec ’12.
