My daughter and I were looking for a place near our Fairmount home to have a diner style breakfast. I’d driven by the Blue Jay for years and had never tried it so we decided to take a chance. The place is cute and clean. It has a real«mom and pop» feel. The service was friendly and the breakfast was really good. I had scrambled eggs with onion and cheese, home fries and a sausage. The eggs were fresh and yummy. The sausages were nice and fat and beautifully browned. The hash browns were a little greasy. I ordered a side of grits too. They came in a nice cup with generous dap of butter melting on top. My daughter had a breakfast sandwich with cheese and sausage, and chocolate milk shake-all yummy.

Sometimes you go to a little hole in the wall nobody would ever notice and find a hidden jewel. This wasn’t one of those times. Most of the menu is breakfast items, even at lunch time. I got a spinach feta omelet, grits, toast, fried potatoes, and coffee. The omelet was a little runny from the spinach. The cheese on the grits was an American single, which I think is not a good addition to grits. The coffee was not good; I think they should clean the machine more often. Cost was $ 9.50.
