One of my favorite bars in the city. Never too crowded, never too trendy for its own good, and always a lot of fun. This has been my NYE spot for some time now. If it were any closer to Rittenhouse, it would be too uppity, any further away, too divey. As it is, it’s perfect. I love Bonner’s!

I was walking around the city looking for lunch. Ive been having a heavy craving for Fish and chips and usually the best places to go are bars. But sadly this place was a little disappointing. my fish were bland and drenched in oil and fries were under cooked. ugh… i ended up tossing it into the trash and eat my loss. i was so turned off. i was also too much for the price i paid.

My first visit was yesterday morning/afternoon. I was meeting somebody at the Mutter Museum and they ran late. With the crazy rain we’ve had lately, I needed to seek indoor refuge. Seeing as some of the choices I originally sought out weren’t open until 11:30 or later, I finally decided to stop in Bonner’s. Bar is welcoming and clean. Main area with flatscreen TV’s and some tables in addition to the actual bar. Newer jukebox. Once you walk through to the other side it’s more of a dining section along near the shuffleboard table. Now, to the the actual experience. I couldn’t imagine how inexpensive the pitchers can really be nowadays when a Miller Lite draft is $ 3.75. Not too bad, but, it’s more«Center City cheap» than dive bar prices nowadays. The mixed drinks were around $ 6 – 7, which, was also okay. I will give them back a 4th star for their good bartenders and the quality of the food, which the prices actually reflected this neighborhood bar-vibe. Less than $ 5 for a quality French Onion soup.

$ 15 min for card. Not many people here on a Thursday night. No music. Makes it easy to hear other people. I like that

Went here for Erin express over the weekend and they handled the large crowd perfectly. The addition of the bonner’s warehouse(armory) was a nice touch.

Ugh. Horrible lunch today. Soup came out barely warm. Gravy on roast beef sandwich barely warm. Seems like they are having issues with kitchen equipment. Chicken salad had a very long hair in it. Done with this place.

If you enjoy walking into a bar and the bartender and his«friends» give you the evil stink eye until you just feel uncomfortable and leave, then this place is for you. They do have shuffleboard though and cheap beer

I came here on Friday with a group of people a work with for lunch. We sat down outside, it was a nice day, and we were pumped about the $ 4-$ 5 pitchers. Who knew this great start could lead to such a terrible review? The service was super slow our waitress barely came to check in to see how we were doing and when she did she seemed unenthusiastic. Also when we wanted the check we waited so long that finally we got up and went inside to ask for it.(We noticed that there were not too many people dining inside that could have possibly backed up the service) Then when we were done with the check, no one came to get it. I ordered a burger and it was nothing special it also came with like 5 fries on the side. No one else at my table seemed to rave about what they ordered either. I will probably not come here again.

I have been to several work-sponsored happy hours(and even a Christmas party) here. The food is inedible and the place consistently smells like urine. We don’t have work functions here anymore. They have a shuffleboard table, if you like that sort of thing.

So so dive bar. Best part was the prices, nice cheap drinks. Worth a stop in, but didn’t really draw me as a spot to spend the evening(I might change my mind on a more off-night, if I could get to the shuffleboard; too crowded on a saturday though).

Bonner’s rennovated the back dining room and our group was treated like royalty for a private event. Food was still pretty«meh» — but Dan(the man) is a great and generous host and Liz runs the show, pretty much. Bonner’s is a standard, solid Irish pub with good drinks and lots of good times. It’s a PECO hangout for many, for sure!

This place is an old style dive bar with what seemed to be regular patrons. It’s a shot and a beer type of place which is fine but the bar tender got cross with me and my friends after we asked about draft beer. We were going to eat but with nothing to quench my thirst for a craft beer I couldn’t stay long. I’m giving it –2 stars for rude staff and terrible beer selection.

They are in the process of renovating. They just got free wifi for customers which is awesome. Get a beer and a burger and work for a few hours. Perfection. So many changes are coming up soon, including a 60 inch widescreen addition in the front room. A smoking lounge on the second floor is rumored as well.

Renovations are happening… Guiness and shuffle board what more could a girl want.

Cheap, divey Irish bar where they let you bring in your own food. You can even get pizza delivered here. This place is great for goups, not very crowded, they have photo hunt and shuffleboard!

I have a love-hate relationship with Bonner’s. I love it because it’s basically the cheapest bar within a few miles of City Hall($ 6PBR pitchers? get outta town) and because the bartenders are across the board the friendliest I’ve encountered. I hate it because every time I go there I end up staying longer than I wanted to and dying inside the next day. It’s a trade-off. They have a pretty sweet shuffleboard table in the little-used back section and the food is good for the price. The place is deceptively huge and has several good TVs, so it’s a great place to catch a game or just hang out on a weekend.

I went here and met up with some fellow Unilocalers a week or so ago. I don’t know if I’d call it a dive bar so much as a neighborhood bar that somehow got stuck in Rittenhouse. Which is fortunate for Rittenhouse. The décor is plain and looks like it hasn’t been changed since the 70’s. But that’s not why people come here. They come for beer and a chance to relax. And that’s what this place provides. Guinness on tap for $ 5 in Center City is impossible you say? At Bonner’s its de rigueur. A burger and fries for 8 bucks in Center City that isn’t McDonalds? Yes, Bonner’s has it too. A big, thick burger with melted blue cheese and thick slabs of bacon no less. If you want to talk to people/regulars there you can. if you want to chill and just talk amongst yourselves or watch TV you can. The only things that I don’t like are that they allow smoking there(though thankfully no one was smoking when I was there, but I could still smell it in the bathroom). I also don’t like the bathroom because its really cramped and I’m clausterphobic. Outside of those things, Bonner’s is a good place to unwind with good beer, good friends and a good burger.

Oh Bonner’s. You were one of my first real hole in the wall places in the city. You’re not up your own ass about being a dive, and you are not filled with unwashed 20 somethings in skinny jeans and ironic Elvis Costello glasses. I love you. Look. I know I’ve not been around much lately and I am sorry. You see, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve started hanging out further east and you’re just too far west for me, but when I am in the neighborhood, I do try and stop by. You may not recognize me anymore – bit older – bit fatter – bit more world weary. Thinking of it – I’ll probably fit in better with your regular crowd than I did before doe eyed fresh out of college. Yeah, you know what, I’ll stop by for a stiff yet inexpensive drink on your awkwardly located bar sometime. I’ll bring the wetnaps for the bathroom. See? I still do remember the great times we’ve had! Gosh I miss you
