I’ve been working close to this place for a long time now and have heard good things, so I finally made it out to try the brisket. I ordered a brisket sandwich with provolone cheese and took it to go. There isn’t an option to eat in — it is literally a hole in the wall. I returned to the office to try it, and it was tasty. The brisket was a cross between BBQ and Bubby style. Most bubbys I know tend to have a corned beef type of flavor to it, but this was a little different. More celery flavored. I liked it. I did, however, fee incredibly sick afterwards. Something did not agree with me. I don’t know if it was the brisket, the cheese, or the combination of the two, but it did not sit well at all. I recommend this place whole-heartedly to those with strong stomachs and intestines. But I don’t think I will return, unless armed with some Immodium.

For a place that is literally just a hole in the wall you cannot get more bang for your buck. The service is super friendly and efficient and the food is fantastic — fresh ingredients, cooked properly, seasoned well, and you can stuff yourself silly for at most $ 6. My only complaint is that they aren’t open on weekends. I walked by this place for years and never stopped in because there was usually a line — but there’s a line because it’s so f’ing good.(And it moves pretty quickly, to their credit.)

I work near this place and LOVE the food here! Their cheesesteaks are tasty, moist, and full of flavour. Folks talk about the two South Philly places. This place easily blows them out the water. The chili cheese dogs are scrumptious esp the quarter pound ones. The chicken fingers are made fresh to order and the fries are spot on! Bubby’s is definitely an old school hole in the wall joint that use to be prevalent in Philly. Many city employees frequent this place, It’s the locals best kept secret. It’s family run and the owner’s a really nice guy. Bubby’s make the work day something to look forward to. Plus, the prices are reasonable and fair. Your first time won’t be the last. :)

Better taste than I expected out of this place, which I had avoided solely based on what it looked like. Prices were raised recently, and the brisket sandwich, while pretty tasty, was a bit dry. And maybe better suited to the lower price point. If I wanted to spend almost ten bucks for a sandwich and a drink, I’d walk another couple blocks to Redding terminal market. But… Better than it looks. I may go back to try something else, like the dogs.

It’s a hole in a wall place. Located right next to the dry cleaning place and another deli café. Small place, not really anywhere to stand but cheap food that does the job. I come here for breakfast and get the pork roll egg and cheese(only $ 3.50) and it’s a decent amount of food! Service is good and friendly. They’re quick too! This is more of in and out place, come in get ur food and get out.

A small place with no where to stand, but some tasty dogs. Hot dogs aren’t anything special, but this place turns out some good ones. The Philly dog is great and for 1.65 you can’t beat it. The brisket isn’t BBQ style it’s more of a crock pot/oven style. Not my favorite, but it was juicy. The service is good and they make your food very quick. Worth a stop if you want a quick bite.

My favorite kind of place — a small, hole-in-the-wall place with great food(in this case, brisket). Pluses: * great brisket * fast * friendly service Yes, they have a whole menu with things like chicken fingers and hot dogs. But those you can get many places. Brisket is where it’s at. For the initiated, brisket is slow-cooked beef. The slow-cooking process creates a tender, juicy, delicious meat.(And, it may be more healthy than grilled beef — grilling beef at high temperatures can create unhealthy carcinogens). The brisket here is good. It’s flavorful. Yes, it has a little salt in it, but no, I didn’t find it excessive. Why only four stars? For now, that’s mostly my own fault. I need to see if I can get sautéed onions and some kind of tomato(ideally stewed tomato) on the sandwich. That would make it *perfect*. But anyway, you can get brisket and fries for under $ 10 here.

Best place around for a quick breakfast or lunch. The chicken finger platter is huge and best shared.

This place was good and cheap! I got a Hot Sausage with some terrific chili. It appeared to have brisket instead of ground beef. The fries were typical fries but they fried them when you ordered them. I will definitely go back.

Regular readers know that the GF and I recently moved to the Fairmount area. So on the day of the move, where did I grab breakfast at 7AM? In an effort to properly fuel up, I stopped by Bubby’s Brisket & Bugsy’s Weiners. Previously I had tried their cheese steak and brisket sandwiches, which were pretty much on point and definitely well-priced. I’m happy to say that the same can be said of their breakfast fare. Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich($ 4.25) It’s nothing fancy, but pretty much all you need to fuel up for the entire day. For just a little over $ 4, you get a huge roll filled with sausage, egg, and cheese. While these sausage patties are likely frozen, they still hit the spot. Fried eggs were cooked on the flattop right where the morning bacon was cooked, so they had some of that great imparted porcine flavor I love. American cheese was nicely interspersed as well. This was so money — for not that much, uhm … money. Home Fries($ 1.50) As an added bonus, I decided to get the home fries. Who can say no to home fries that are less than $ 2? These were shredded right on to the flat top and were tender, with some bite from the fresh onion(optional). While a bit bland, it was nothing a little ketchup, hot sauce, and black pepper couldn’t spruce up. So if you’re in the Love Park area on the way to work, do yourself a favor and stop by Bubby’s Brisket & Bugsy’s Weiners. Clearly, it’s not haute cuisine or brunch fare to be had with a mimosa, but you’ll have the energy to get through the day, or a 5-hour move.

The brisket’s pretty good here. FYI-The restaurant is about as big as a walk-in closet so you will probably want to walk somewhere close by to enjoy your meal.

Since I work right down the block, I figured I’d try Bubby’s for a quick lunch. For $ 3.95 you can get a plain half brisket sandwich(half referring to roll size, not the composition of the sandwich). It’s a pretty straightforward, solid little sandwich with no frills. In a last-ditch effort to be somewhat healthy(is that possible with brisket?) I chose not to get cheese on my little sandwich, although if I go again, I might decide to splurge, as the plain brisket was, well, plain. It was juicy and flavorful, a bit on the salty side, and it had a little bit of jus. I might have liked more jus on the side but for my first Bubby’s experience, it was tasty enough.

Pretty good food, but slightly over-priced($ 7.00 for a brisket w/cheese and chips?). Have only tried the brisket sandwich so far, so it’s possible this review will change at some point. Gonna need to have me a chill dog one of these days…

The half brisket sandwich is pretty hefty for $ 6. The chopped brisket pieces were totally soft as buttah. I should have gotten some cheese on it to kick up the flavor, but overall I was really pleased with what Bubby had to offer. Their snappy hot dogs were surprisingly great. And who sells hot dogs for only a dollar anymore? Especially when that dollar includes a big helping of kraut and onions. Good team work, Bubby and Bugsby!

One of my weakness is hot dogs. I know what they are made of but no matter I still love them. Just so happened that I walk by this place all the time on my way to school. The place is small, just a counter to order at and a drink machine. They have hot dogs and cheese steaks from what I remember. I ordered the Bugsys dog with kraut, mustard and ketchup. The dog was plump and juicy. It’s a grilled dog not a steamed dog. Service was friendly and fast. Now a day, a hot dog at any food truck in the city is $ 1.25. Here it’s still $ 1 as it should be. I can’t wait to go back and try their ¼ hot dog… yum.
