Cella Luxuria Furniture + Accessories

The inventory in this store is excellent especially for our space in Old City. The owner was excellent and we had been looking at a bed for several months. Finally decided to purchase it and love the design. They did an excellent job with delivery and set-​up at a very reasonable cost. Great place to shop for furniture and excellent people.

This is a great, non-​chain (although I hear opening up a second location) furniture store in Center City on a strip of Chestnut with a bunch of other (chain) furniture stores. It’s two floors of modern and industrial type furniture with greatly varying prices. I found some things to be much cheaper than I expected but I was also able to order some authentic designer pieces from them as well (ie. knock off and non-​knock off). Stefan has been very helpful to me during my shopping experiences there and unlike a salesy approach (I’m a salesperson and can attest there’s nothing worse than the feeling of being sold to), he was more helpful when I needed help and had questions. I haven’t purchased anything yet but have recommended it to several people who have purchased there and have found the selection and the prices to be excellent. Kudos to keeping it local and doing it well.

I was looking for a statement rug — to change up my living room. Popped into Cella and started perusing their showrooms. Fell in love with this style rug /​design. Christina was so helpful and knowledgeable about the patchwork process, I was hooked instantly! Great vibe, style and ‘city functional’ items — can’t wait to go back for a new sofa!

Great products, service and they don’t mind when I browse.

My wife and I recently purchased a sofa bed from Cella Luxuria, and our experience with this store was mixed, at best. We found that they sell a selection of high quality furniture (our sofa bed was made by American Leather), and their salespeople are knowledgeable, and at first were very helpful. However, after we had placed an order and paid a deposit of 50%, they became much less interested in rendering service, or even communicating necessary information about our purchase.
At the time we placed our order, we were told that our sofa bed would be delivered in 5 to 7 weeks. We had ordered it so that we could accommodate guests, who were expected to arrive in about 7 weeks. Thus, we knew that we were taking a chance that the sofa bed might not arrive before our guests. After 6 weeks, my wife called and was told that the sofa bed would not be shipped for at least another week. That was still within the promised time-​frame, although it might then not arrive until after our guests had arrived. My wife was also told that they might be able to fix us up with a temporary unit, to fill in the gap, and that they would look into it. We never received a follow up call, regarding the proposed temporary solution. However, two days after my wife had called, I received a call from our salesperson, to let me know that our sofa bed had been shipped from the factory the day before. Furthermore, I was told that, if we paid the outstanding balance, all of the paperwork would be done, so that, as soon as the sofa bed arrived at their warehouse, it could be delivered to our home. I agreed, and paid the outstanding balance. Over the next few days (during which time our guests arrived) we heard nothing more from Cella. I called again, and was told that our sofa bed was due to arrive at their warehouse the next day, and I should then expect a call from the local delivery company. Two more days passed with no further contact. On the third day we called again, and were told that ONLY HALF OF OUR SOFA BED had been delivered. The other half had been forgotten at the factory! Why we had not been informed immediately of this snafu was never explained. However, It was obvious at this point that we would not have the sofa bed for any part of our guests’ stay. My wife asked the person, to whom she spoke (Brendan, who was in charge of delivery), if Cella would give us a refund of some part of the cost, to make amends for inconveniencing us. She was told that they would consider it. Several more days passed with no contact from Cella. I called again and asked to speak to the owner. I was told that he was away, and connected once more to Brendan. He told me that the the second half of our sofa bed had arrived, and he was «just filling out the paper work», so that it could be delivered. (Remember, we had paid the remaining balance a week before, so that the paper work would be done and ready when the sofa bed arrived!) I asked again about recompense for the trouble we’d been caused, and Brendan told me that he’d have to speak to the owner, when he returned. I asked Brendan to ask the owner to call me.
It has been more that a week, now, and I have not yet received a call from the owner, nor any other communication from Cella. In the mean time, our sofa bed was delivered. When we bought the sofa bed we had expressed concern about getting it up the stairs to the top floor of our home. Our salesperson told us not to worry, because the sofa bed was shipped in two pieces, which could readily be carried up our stairs. The final assembly of the two halves would be performed by the local delivery crew, in our home. Need I say that the sofa bed arrived at our home fully assembled?! It was only thanks to the perseverance of the two man delivery team, and a Herculean-​effort on their part, that it was carried up the final narrow stairway. Fortunately, the delivery team had expertly wrapped the sofa bed in quilted blankets, so that no damage was done to it or our hallways. We’ve only had the sofa bed for a few days, and, of course, no one has slept on it. However, it is a very good looking piece of furniture and very well constructed.
My bottomline-​recommendations are that, if you do choose to deal with Cella Luxuria, do not pay in full until the item that you’ve purchased is delivered to your home, and found to be satisfactory. Also, do not purchase furniture that you require to be delivered by a certain date, unless that date is several weeks later than their estimated delivery date. Finally, don’t expect to receive satisfactory customer service.

Our search for a stylish bar cart led us to Cella Luxuria, a fairly large furniture store on Chestnut Street that houses some truly beautiful and unique pieces. If you’re not in the market for furniture, there are also great prints and accessories that you won’t find anywhere else. We were thrilled when we inquired about a bar cart and were given an option that would look perfect in the space we had in mind.
The piece was expensive and we had to sleep on it before making a final decision. Ultimately, we decided to make the splurge because the look and functionality of the piece were unmatched by anything else we had come across. I called and placed my order with Hayley, who was easy to work with and told me my piece would be ready for delivery in two to three weeks.
Just before we hit the third week mark, I called the store for a status check. The person who answered the phone asked for my number and said they would call me back with info. That never happened. The next day, I called again, was asked for my number, and never received a call. The next day (yes, third day in a row), I called again, and explained what had happened the previous two days and was assured by someone that I would receive a call back. NOPE. At this point, we were past the three week window and I was starting to get extremely frustrated that I had not heard from the store at all, especially since I had paid in full when placing the order. It wasn’t until I emailed the store with my experience that I received a call from the store’s owner, who let me know that the piece would take a little longer and that I would receive a call when it came in.
A couple weeks went by and I received a call that my piece was in and I scheduled a delivery. The delivery guys assembled the piece and I noticed that one of the doors on the cart had a scratch. They were able to take back the door and switch it out with another they had in their inventory, all within the hour. I received a call from the store a week or so later and was asked if I was happy with the piece — nice.
I am extremely happy with my bar cart, as a matter of fact. It’s gorgeous! But I have to admit, my negative experience when trying to get a simple question answered has left me a little salty overall. I would recommend Cella for their products but I would also warn folks that they may have a hard time reaching anyone for questions after the purchase but prior to delivery.

After walking through the first floor with my friends I noticed the customer service person was always just a few feet behind us. I find this unnerving and it makes me feel like I am being hurried. So, I went to the second floor to browse, and she followed me there. When I commented about her always being right there, she said they are required to accompany guests in case they had questions. That was the end of my shopping experience there! Nice furniture, but I don’t want someone with me at every turn!

I wandered into Cella Luxuria this past weekend after seeing a unique reclaimed table in their window. When I walked in I was greeted by owner Stefan who took the time to show my parents and I around the showroom. He explained the unique qualities of the reclaimed pieces, which were absolutely exquisite and very well built. My father who is a furniture maker by trade even commented on how well everything was built and how it was all reasonably priced. I absolutely fell in love with a sideboard, and received a very good price on the floor sample. Today it was delivered and I could not be happier with the piece and the superb delivery service. Thank you, Stefan, Christina & company, I wish you very much success with your expansion. I hope to be back for that table!

Great shop, great stock and helpful owners. We bought a floor sample, that when delivered they decided to give us a brand new unit. The delivery team was great, on time and put the unit together and in place. Very satisfied and will go back again.

I put a deposit on a table at Cella Luxuria, then when we informed Christina & Stefan that we needed our deposit back a few days later because we ordered the same merchandise elsewhere for much less, they did so, but then contacted the manufacturer who put pressure on the other retailer to cancel our order. They actually thought that this would drive us back to their store to pay the higher price. Naturally, we were ultimately able to acquire the table for the lower price without returning to Cella Luxuria, who really shot themselves in the foot here. They could have made us a counter offer, to which I would have been very receptive in the interest of supporting a local retailer, but they did not. Instead they chose to make a childish and stupid move which resulted in the loss of both this order and all of our future business.

I purchased an awesome Innovation sofa here after searching for a new sofa for 1 year+. It was definitely outside my budget and I hope this design and quality will pay off in the long run. The folks here are very nice and not city high end furniture snobby. That may be one reason I purposely bought my sofa here instead of cheaper and online. Call me a bit dumb but I like to support local business if I can. I appreciated Christina giving me a small deal on the delivery/​setup charge.
PS. I should have tried to bargain a tad to split my lost if they wanted my business. Live and learn :)

Cella Luxuria has a fantastic showroom and an extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. I was actually surprised by the prices of some of their items. one ottoman caught my eye, and I was expecting it to be at least $ 400. It was $ 128!
One of the owners, Christina, was kind enough to email me pictures of everything I was interested in. I love this store and will recommend it to my clients!

Nice furniture on a street with much competition.
I incidentally walked in on opening day. There I met Stefan (sp?) who greeted me personally and spent some time walking me through his store. Though he opened a few days ahead of schedule, the showroom was cohesive and packed with really unique pieces. Within 15 minutes, I found seven pieces I would consider buying when replacements are needed. While there were some gaps with new furniture still in delivery, it was very organized from day one. I look forward to spending future time at his store.
This place will someday make me really poor. At least my house will be really awesome. Cheers.

I think this store has been open 2 – 3 weeks now and I have bought 2 things there already. I have identified several other things I want to buy too. This place could become a problem. The employees are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The furniture is nice quality and a mix of new and recycled (not vintage though). The prices are reasonable. The store is well put together.
