Bought tickets to see an artist Vicetone perform here June 24th. He never showed up and the club never told ticketholders before hand, I feel I was ripped off. Avoid this place at all costs

Went to see Breathe Carolina over the weekend and I couldn’t have had a better time! Staff was pleasant, doorman was great, sound system was awesome. My first drink of the night was free when i downloaded and ordered off the beerme app. Drinks after that were a bit pricey but they were at least strong. All in all I will def go back and check out another DJ or something. This is my first review only because after reading so many negatives I was kinda anxious about attending the show here. Thankfully I went because it was amazing being that close to the stage/band!

So this is a tad late but I will NEVER go to this place again. I went for the $ 10 open bar from 11 – 12:30 which I thought was a great deal. When I get there, as expected, the line was super long. I wasn’t even mad about that. When I finally got in, we got to the downstairs bar which was packed. Again, that was expected so I was fine with that. But the real disappointment came when I went to the upstairs bar. I walked up with my friend and we were served. Cool. We went back for another drink at about 12:05. I waited at the spot where I got served before, but the bartender was on the other side of the bar talking to a group of girls. So I figured since she’s over there, I’ll walk over there and my friend will stay where we were and one of us will get her. I sat there damn near in front of her for about 5 minutes. We even made eye contact and then she literally skipped right over me! By this time it’s like 12:25 and the open bar is almost over. So finally at like 12:28 my friend got her and ordered my drink for me to which she replied, «your friend has to be here to get the drink.» So then I go BACK over and SHESKIPSOVERMEAGAIN! When I finally get her attention she tells me the open bar is over. I flipped and explained to her that I damn near chased her all over the bar and she actually yelled at me and then made my drink. Which proved that she kept hearing me and seeing me and still refused to make my drink! I didn’t even want it at that point so I left it right there and walked out. That was my first time there and I’ll never go back. Do yourself a favor and don’t even spend your money here.

I used to go here when it was known as Whisper. I was not impressed with the changes this place has made, however I believe it is the same owners. I went here the other day and this place pulled the classic club trick. Long line outside and pretty much no one inside. I went here with a large group of people(20+) who had made arrangements prior to party it up at Coda. The bouncers would not let us all in at once even though they acknowledged that we had been put on a guest list. Their excuse was there was too many people inside. After 20 – 30 min of waiting, I got inside and there was only 30 people inside, most of whom were in my group. The dance floor was empty except for one guy. The club slowly filled up as the night went on but the music was mediocre and the wasn’t any ‘energy.’ I had some enjoyable times here when it was Whisper but it looks like those days are over. As was true when this place was Whiser, the drinks are are overpriced and weak. One bonus is that it stays open late!

Let me start out by saying this is a beautiful venue. But since I went there for a specific event, I can’t really say too much about the venue itself. What I do want to talk about is the ridiculous drink prices! We ordered 2 double shots of Tito’s Vodka which came out to 34 dollars!!! I was in complete shock. 2 double shots of Tito’s Vodka was more than a bottle of Grey Goose??? Are they serious??? Never again. I also didn’t like that I had to walk all the way out of the dancefloor area and up some steps then through another section just to get to the bathroom. I would never come to this venue by choice.

Really sketchy entrance. The space is big and has seating along the wall but this place is more of a dance hall than a venue for real music. We saw Yuna here and it was terrible. The sound quality all off– Yuna is a mellow artist and I felt like I was being blasted out of the place, even standing at the back of the room the instrumental and background music was way too loud and you could barely hear her sing over it. The sound producers who work here need better training. For comparison, we had seen Yuna at Union Transfer prior and it was such a better experience. I wouldn’t go back here but I can see where it would be a fun place to dance to techno. Beware if your going here for a show.

Pros: — large space so you can get away from the crowd if need be — coat check — 2 bars on the main floor — open late(3:00ish) Cons: -$ 15 dollar cover(Saturday night) — expensive drinks $ 11 for a tiny vodka soda(come on this isn’t Manhattan) — same drink priced differently at the two bars that are feet away from each other($ 11 at one $ 9 at the other) — house music(come on play me some Britney!) — open till 3:00ish. Yes, once you hit the age of 30 this can be either a pro or a con depending on the night.

Went to see a pearl jam cover band. One line out front for everyone regardless if you prepurchased tickets. Main floor bar has two bars, only one was open. The open bar was 8 people deep. Upstairs is another bar 4 people deep with only one bartender and a wandering hipster barback that seemed lost. Keep in mind that this band had an opening act that started an hour before I got there and they still had all these issues.

Still feel the same about the venue — but wanted to provide an update that they now collect your information, name, phone number, email for«membership» which I’m totally fine with. But my issue is that the girl that collects the information needs an attitude check. We like supporting the Philly music scene, and like my previous review said — I like Coda so I enjoy coming here. With that said, I come here almost weekly if there is a good show or someone I want to come support. Along the same lines, for the last month every single time we come they ask for our ID twice, information, cell phone every single time which can get a little annoying. So last night we asked if we need to do this every single time, because we literally go through this every week. So if we’re «members» now why the inconvenience. The girl goes«you don’t have to come in tonight if you don’t want. I need your number». RUDE. Now that’s not the best way to treat a weekly repeat customer is it? I try to be as nice as possible, but check yourself. You’re a door lady, please don’t power trip. Check yourself. With that said — the bartenders and everyone else throughout the night was great, including the guest list guy that is always there, he’s had a great attitude every time I go. But this lady and her attitude, is going to ruin you Coda.

My new favorite club in Philly. Pretty big space which leaves plenty of room to dance. I also like the benches and tables along the sides incase you need to take a break but still want to enjoy the music. Drinks won’t cost you a fortune either($ 3 – 5 beer, $ 6 liquor). Coda also books a lot of talent that Philly doesn’t usually get. The only downside is that a lot of their bigger shows happen on Thursdays, which make for a pretty rough day at work on Friday!

Avoid this place unless you want to be treated like shit. Shitty management. incredibly rude bouncers and the bartenders are rude. It’s like talking to a blank wall! My first time going there was last week, on a Saturday. I’ve actually been meaning to go to Coda but never had the time to until a girlfriend of mine decided to celebrate her 21st birthday there. Before we got there we decided to have a couple drinks in so we felt pretty good walking into the club. It was a pretty long line when I got there which was like 12:30am but it went by fast. I guess admission is $ 20 but by saying someone’s name we got in for $ 10. Coat check was $ 2 as well and it was very big. The music was good and the atmosphere was fun. Guessing I came in at a good time. Yes there were people who were drunk and bumping into you, but not surprising for a club like this. Got myself, and my two other girlfriends shots of hennesey and in total it was $ 26 just for three shots. The shots were bigger than normal shots and with hennesey involved, they were pretty fine. The music was great all night and the vibes were good. After I saw VIP, I decided not to reserve VIP if I ever go here. I’m definitely a VIP type of girl but in this club they were too disconnected from everyone and in odd places. All in all, I had a great time. It was mainly because of the friends I was with but my experience was fun overall.

We bought tickets for the Halloween event. However when we got there, around 12:30am, they weren’t letting anyone else in because the club was«at full capacity». How can this happen when it’s a «tickets only» event? It makes no sense. A ton of people were in line with us and they were ripped off as well. The next day I emailed Coda, informing them and asking for a refund. I have not received any response. My friends and I will never go to Coda again.

PROS –Great music and sound system — popular music with EDM vibe –Large, open space –Easy to get a drink with large bars –Clean CONS –One bouncer flat out lied to our group about the cost of cover before we waited in line. After getting cash out of ATM and waiting in line, he denied having quoted us that number. I don’t mind paying cover, but I do mind being lied to to dupe us into waiting in line.(this merits the 1-star review) –Other bouncers generally rude –No cheap drinks/specials for when you just want some alcohol!

Been going to this place for a while and never had a problem regarding entry at the door until Saturday(Oct.31/2015). My friends and I bought the Devils crawl tickets that were on sale for $ 10 which stated that we could get into coda free before midnight. Unfortunately when we got there(11:30pm) there was a huge line and it seemed like they weren’t letting anyone in. The staff at the door said they weren’t honoring our wristbands for the Devils crawl and that we had to buy tickets to get in. We did so and we eventually got in. We felt like we got scammed out of a great deal we had both with the Devils crawl event and coda.

This was our first experience at Coda and we will not be returning. A group of 15 of us purchased tickets from Upcoming Events for the Halloween Party being hosted at Coda. Half of the group showed up ~9pm and were able to gain entrance to the club. At ~11pm the remaining half showed up, waited in line for over an hour, and when they reached the front were told that their tickets were invalid and Coda would only be accepting tickets purchased from another site. We all purchased tickets from the SAME site. The issue isn’t the money. It’s the fact that you cannot get that time back and that it ruined Halloween plans. Coda has yet to resolve the issue or compensate the parties for their wasted time and money. Upcoming Events has contacted those people who were denied entry and stated that Coda permitted them to sell 200 tickets, but were unprepared for that number of people and it resulted in their customers being turned away. They are following up with compensation. This kind of service is unacceptable and no one from our group will be returning to an establishment that is disrespectful of people’s time, money, and has yet to take responsibility for their poor service.

Absolutely horrendous. The Halloween event was horribly mismanaged — not only were the bouncers insanely verbally RUDE to those of us whose tickets they arbitrarily decided not to honor, I saw one flat-out assault a drunk man by throwing him to the ground, hearing his skull thud against the cement, then placing his boot on his throat. Really classy. This place will never see my patronage or that of any of my large party who was supposed to attend the event. I hope this place goes out of business.

Very nice venue, usually great talent booked. Especially if you are into the EDM scene. Very large, spacious club, never feels too packed. There is an upstairs bar that overlooks the main dance floor which is nice. Bars are well positioned to be accessible from the dance floor. Last saturday was a 6am party — pretty crazy. However, the club is normally open until 3am so it is a late club. Doesn’t usually start to get busy until about midnight on most nights. Club opens at 11pm. Drinks are a little on the expensive side $ 11 for a vodka/soda, but that is not usual for a philly club. Still, after 4 drinks and a $ 44 bar tab, it is pretty quick to add up.

Meh. I liked Whisper better. They no longer have a lounge area unless you pay bottle service. I guess I should’ve expected that with a new owner. The DJ wasn’t that great and the drinks are expensive, which again, is also expected I guess. The line was really long — probably because it had just opened up and people wanted to see what it was about. The crowd was really creepy and almost no one was dancing, probably because again, the DJ wasn’t good. Although this place feels a lot more open — it’s just more room for people to stand around awkwardly. I think they need to start booking better talents or this will go downhill like Whisper did.

We came here for Drilladelphia, a party during Made in America. My friend ordered a $ 1000 table and when he came out to get us, they wouldn’t let him back in the club. We each had to pay $ 20 to enter 1 hour before the club was supposed to close. Before we could even hit the stairs to see what this place was about, someone pulled the fire alarm and everyone had to evacuate. Once everything settled down, they weren’t letting people back in, and refused to refund us for our pointless experience. This place is a joke.

From all of the exclusive VIP clubs in New York and LA one might expect some attitude, CODA brought it to an entirely new level and they’re located in Philadelphia where the scene is not like that. First they force you to wait in line forever, literally just to have people waiting in line, they’re not at capacity or anything. Once you get there the space is great because it’s huge and the bars are well located to facilitate a dance floor but the bartenders are the meanest people I have ever met. They give you an attitude if you’re drunk, they give you an attitude if you’re sober, and are trying to get as much money from you as possible. The manager charged the group next to me for a shot he never made, and when the group pointed out that he had only given them 4 not 5 shots like he had charged them for he walked around in a huff, poured the smallest amount of alcohol into a glass for them before walking away and«not hearing» their complaints. Also, they refuse to serve tap water which is ILLEGAL. It’s only a matter of time before they have ambulances outside the club because people are passing out from dehydration. They will happily give you a bottle of water for $ 15 though. When I pointed out that they needed to serve me tap water by pulling up the law and succeeded in getting some, I saw them try to deny it to the people around me. Honestly, this is a place that has the most horrible staff I have ever met. They try to make it exclusive but I personally think it’s low class to try to force people to spend money on things they’re not receiving or shouldn’t have to pay for.

This place was pretty bad. We came here on a Saturday night($ 15 cover for both men and women.) after 1am(this place closes at 3:30am), and no one was dancing. I remember when this place was Whisper, and people actually got down and everyone had fun. This new place feels more open and less clustered, but people were just standing around. The strobe lighting in this place was sometimes way too bright, and made it feel like daytime, which was awkward because you can clearly see everyone not enjoying themselves. The DJ also switched to a different song about 20 seconds into every song so no one could get into anything… The only positive here was that the bar still served alcohol after 2am. Is that even legal? I’d be weary of the other 5 star reviews… seems pretty sketch.

As Paul R. mentioned in his review, there appears to be a lot of 5-star reviews by people whose only review is of Coda. A shameless shill attempt, unfortunately, probably by people associated with the business. Take those reviews with a grain of salt. I came here on a Saturday night, and was very disappointed. We got bottle service, but the place was empty when we got there(around midnight), and even at its most full(around 1am) was very sparse. The venue is like a warehouse, it seems almost cold and industrial… and I don’t mean that in a good way. It does have space, which is something they brag about, but it also means you see the complete emptiness of the crowd. I wasn’t a fan of the layout either, the bottle service area on the 2nd floor is completely isolated from the club to the point you can’t see anything going on below you. The bottle service area on the 1st floor is in a very odd location. And the long hallway style works for some clubs but seriously made me feel like I was in a storage warehouse most of the time. The layout/ambiance of the entire place seemed cold and alienating, not warm and welcoming or impressively styled like good clubs are supposed to be like. The light system was good, I’ll give them that. I’m sure if you’re on drugs, you’d enjoy it. The DJs were subpar, pretty poor transitions and poor song selections. I wasn’t expecting top 40s or deep house, but it seemed like they couldn’t make up their mind on what to play. Bad transition between songs too, and songs played for 30 second clips only. Most of the time, this resulted in several«everyone stops dancing» moments, which is what you never want to see. We had arranged for some bottle special through a promoter, and were guaranteed the deal way in advance. The VIP host let our group in, and he was a pretty nice guy. Then he came by later and said he «couldn’t honor our deal», and rambled on for about a minute about it. He claimed he was doing us a favor by letting our friends in above what is normally allowed by bottle service, at which point I looked around the club which was completely empty. Thanks for the«favor», buddy. Ultimately we had to oblige and I didn’t want to barter with someone like that. But for sure, they bamboozled us and I was quite disappointed at that. Our bottle service girls were nice, and friendly… when they were actually there. After a while, we went out to the floor to try to dance and salvage the night, but when we all returned, we didn’t get any service again for the rest of the night. It’s not like the club was crowded either, they just never checked up on us again. And at the end, I actually had to SEARCH out the girls to get my check. I don’t think I’ve found a good club in Philly yet, but Coda is certainly a place that I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. I suggest avoiding this one.

Noticed quite a few five star reviews from early March by people with no friends and one review… that’s one(dishonest) way to do your marketing. To be honest I came here for a rock show(Sponge) in May so I’m probably not their target. Anyway, the show was great and the sound was good so I’ll give them props for that but that’s it. Question I have for this place is why on Earth do you have a rock show THEN club BS? Pick one. I found it incredibly annoying the band I went to see was only able to play until 10:45. Beer was expensive but I guess that’s a combination of the venue and it being Rittenhouse. When i left, albeit at 11, the place was empty and there a grand total of zero people waiting to get in.

I used to come here verrrrry often back in the day when it was Whisper and honestly I thought I’d never say this, but Whisper was much better. I know Coda just recently was renovated and reopened but the vibes are complete different. The place is much bigger now but that just makes it seem very unpopular mainly because it looks like there are like 15 people there. The dance floor is HUGE with barely anyone on it. They need to step up the marketing on this place. I won an open bar here so me and a bunch of girls came, but if we didn’t win that we definitely would have left right away. They need to award more people with open bars so more people will come. It has good potential but they need more advertising and marketing on this place to attract more people.

My girlfriend and I went to Coda just last night(Saturday) for the Tuner Evolution afterparty. We’re from northern NJ and usually frequent NYC clubs but made the trip down to party with some of the featured models from the Tuner Evo show. DJ Paola Shea was headlining. She definitely felt the crowd and gave them what they wanted. The space was very open and décor was nice. The lighting system was dope! Here is why I give this place 5 stars. From the moment we arrived, the staff was amazing! They are very accommodating and friendly. I am 31 and I have been to countless venues in my lifetime. I have to say, Coda’s staff is definitely one of the BEST I’ve ever encountered. THANKYOU, all!

Really mixed feelings about this place. I’ll try my best to explain why. I like to start with the good: Bouncers/greeters were very friendly both times I came to the venue — personable, friendly, smiles all around. The venue itself — is nice, classy and spacious. I like the upstairs area as well which also has an additional bar, nice seats to sit in as well to enjoy the artist performing that night. Lots of space, and hoop friendly, +1 point in my book Sound system — is good, and very loud. which is both good and bad — great for the sound — but bad for if people are going here for the«lounge» environment — it’ll be very hard to have a conversation here The«negative» or things I think they could work on 1) Identity crises? So here’s the thing. If you go on a Friday /Saturday — the place is packed. My friends attempted to go on a weekend, and the line was around the block. Both times I went on weekdays, the place was empty — dead for both the Wine event last night, and Twurkaholics. which is a little sad and disconcerting as Twurkaholics is pretty packed at a competitor venue, Soundgarden hall. So I think the biggest issue here is – do they want to be a club. or a music venue. or teeter on both? Like I said — this goes into if they want their customers to come here for nice drinks, a lounge with live music to listen to and have good conversation — OR if they want this to be a place, that people come for the artists, not conversation and dance. aka a music venue 2) Servers — some need improvement. Had a very friendly female bartender yesterday, actually both were great. There was one male at the food service station(special event with catered food) that was neither friendly nor helpful. The food was not labeled — & since I have dietary restrictions I had asked him if the dumplings had meat in them. He looks up and goes«I don’t know». and walks away. I’m sorry, but then why are you standing there? Second bad example — the complimentary wine tasting was over at 11:00pm — of course we wanted one last drink at 10:58pm — the male bartender near the door had his back turned the whole time, turns around at 11:00pm and says«oh no I’m sorry, my manager just came over and said no more drinks». Listen, it’s not about the money. I don’t care about paying for drinks, at all. It’s the principle… should have gone to the female server who was awesome. Good customer service goes a long way. not nickel and diming a drink. Anyway. we’ll see how this place does in the months to come. Will update as needed.

I waited so long for this place to open! Having been a huge fan and patron of Whisper, I really missed the venue. I came here on opening weekend and was a little disappointed. Coda is a complete house venue built around showcasing the DJ of the night and putting on shows. It’s more open than Whisper and looks wayyyy bigger. Like Aria S. said, don’t know how they could fill the place so it’s awkwardly empty a lot of the time. I don’t think Philly is a big house music city. The upstairs part is now for bottle service, which I don’t like. I liked at Whisper that it was right next to the dance floor so it was like you’re still part of the party. I’m just not really a fan of house and Coda is for a certain niche that’s not me. I recommend it for people really into house and would tell people more into hip-hop and dancing to go somewhere else.

Coda is where Whisper was and they’ve renovated the place to make it wayy more spacious. While I love how open the dance floor is, and of course the high ceilings that were there before, dance floors need to be somewhat packed for it to be fun. Because of that, I worry that Coda will always seem empty even though there might be decent amount of people there. There’s 3 bars, one when you enter, one by the dance floor, and one upstairs. Hopefully this means that waiting for a drink won’t take too long. Music: DJ playing house. I am not a house fan, so this was a –1 star for me, but I could tell the music could be fun if you’re into that. It seems like this will be the vibe since they had all house DJs in their lineup for the next month of so. The bottle service girls(or whatever they’re called) were all really nice and didn’t give attitude if I didn’t want a drink. They were all dressed in these cute lace dresses that were flattering but not overly slutty like some clubs tend to be. Cover ranges, I’d call/look on FB to find out. I think because of the music they play here, and house big it is, it might become like a Lit of center city? Unfortunately, Philly isn’t a Clubb-y city, but I’m happy with the addition!
