Great place to get a 6 pack! They have all sorts of beers and they take debit/credit. The employees are really friendly too.

Nice selection of both low, mid, and upper level beers. Mixers, sodas, ciders, the whole lot. Seating area in the back. Very nice clerk. Small snack selection… though this is the area that keeps me from giving them a 4-star review… as the first bag of Doritos I grabbed had industrial strength tape around the middle, as it had been sliced through with a box cutter(one presumes when the shipping box was opened). Kinda gross to not just chuck those chips. Still, I’ll return to stop up when in the area, and recommend checking them out, if you’re in the ‘hood.

Kind of dingy looking on the outside, but much bigger than you would expect on the inside. The selection of beer is massive, if that’s your thing, and prices for everything, regular drinks, beer, snacks, food, etc. are all laid out clearly in laminated sheets around the shop. The owners seem relatively nice from my limited interactions with them, and I’d definitely go back whenever I need something late at night, since they’re open till midnight — pretty reasonable for CC shops.

Great beer selection! Prices tend to be a bit on the high side, but not too outrageous. Tax is included. Most good craft beers are in the $ 13– $ 18 range. One of my go to items is a 16 oz. 4– pack(Cans) of Sixpoint Bengali Tiger for $ 11.95. Good deal. They now take credit cards.

I was blown away by how nice this place is on the inside, especially since it looks pretty run down on the outside. The beer selection is huuuuge. Definitely something here for everyone. They even have a deli and an area to sit down and eat at. The thing that I really don’t like about this place is that they don’t have prices on the fridge racks. But instead, there’s like 2 or 3 double sided printouts tied to the door handle that you have to go back and forth to refer to. And to add to that, there were some items missing from it. It’s not the end of the world, but it is an inconvenience, especially if there’s a lot of people in there.

Since we’re dealing with those annoying PA alcohol laws here, if you’re going for selection and small quantities(that is, you don’t want to buy a case), this place is pretty good. For a small store, they have a great selection, and sell by the six pack or even individual bottles. The downside? It’s really expensive. Sure, cheap beer here is cheap beer, it’s cheap. But if you’re looking for something a little nicer than a 16 oz. can of Keystone, expect to pay for it. A good quality six pack can run you $ 12 – 15. I didn’t bother to look at the prices for the larger high quality bottles, but I can’t imagine they’re cheap. Overall, if you desperately need a four pack of Dogfish Head 90 Minute, this is a good place. If not, go to Delaware and buy it for half the price.

If you live in the area and you like nice beers but you aren’t in the mood to go for a crosstown beer run — Colney Deli is for you. Colney has a great selection. Sure there will be times when you need to crosstown to run to the Foodery because there’s a specialty beer you just have to have or try. For all other purposes, Colney has what you are looking for. A great variety and kept cold! Buying premium beers already chilled is a huge bonus. Also they started taking plastic a while back :)

Much improved now that they renovated(it was filthy from 2005 — 2008 or so). A vast selection of beers, sodas, iced teas and other beverages. Convenient.

we love the beer selection here. when we’re too lazy to go to the beer depot, we stop by and get dogfish, rogue, guinness, samuel adams, chimay, etc. it’s not too pricey either for being in rittenhouse square.

This place is perfect for picking up some beverages before seeing a show at the First Unitarian Church down the street. The selection is overwelming– The have something for everyone. 6 packs of the basics like Miller light etc. 40’s of Colt, Highlife and Old E, wine coolers, champagne packs and a huge array of my favorite craft beers in 4⁄6 packs and also in 22 oz bottles. So much fun to be able to grab a big bottle of Victory or Allagash and head over to a show. in a church:) I found the prices to be just fine– $ 4.75 for a 22 oz bottle of Victory’s Helios when I can easily walk into a bar and pay $ 5 – 7 for a pint.

There is so much beer here! And it’s very clean these days. The clerk at the counter was very sweet and helped me find something that should have been pretty easy/obvious but I was too oblivious to notice. Seriously, there’s a ton of beer here! Great variety!!!

I went in here recently and was accused of being underage and was promptly kicked out. I have valid ID but it didn’t seem to matter.

+1 star Some of the prices can still be ridiculous but at least there’s transparency involved. I stopped in earlier today to find two double-sided, laminated price spreadsheets attached to the coolers. A few beers might remain unlisted but now you have something better to go on than misty half-remembrances and superstition. +1 star They occasionally sell out-of-season beers for $ 1/bottle. Sometimes its something worth passing up but recently I’ve gotten stuff like Flying Fish Gran Cru Winter Reserve, Brooklyn Winter Ale & Weyerbacher Winter Ale. Get there early to take advantage of this deal, though; I pass here on my morning run and never hesitate to stop back in when I spot something good in the window.

2 stars because they don’t list prices, are more expensive than other beer stores/delis with beer selections, and cash only– none of these points are immediately obvious until you walk to the register, beer in hand… otherwise, they offer a pretty great beer selection(1 star). Maybe that’s what we’re paying for– variety? 3 stars as a compromise. Just be warned that it’s cash only!

Cash only. And they don’t list their prices. A perfect storm type combination which leads to me putting my purchases back on the shelf when I don’t have enough cash and going to the deli around the corner that takes credit, despite its inferior selection. Great variety, but useless for a person who relies primarily on plastic.

Yes! A good beer store downtown, near Rittenhouse! Woo! I have no clue about the food here but I do know that they have quite an impressive beer collection. The prices are as good as it gets(for philly). Lots of great microbrews and all of them available cold. Next time you’re doing some park sitting/people watching/dog walking in Rittenhouse, stop in and grab a 6’er.

The staff is so sweet. Beer selection is out of this world. Any place where I can get Gulden Draak, St. Bernards, and seasonal microbrews is A+. Also, their munchies selection is pretty rad. You can have regular chips or Pocky with your ice cold beverage of choice.

The sign outside advertises new management and based on the previous reviewers tale of filth I believe it, clean as a whistle on the inside now. I certainly didn’t examine their deli offerings, didn’t even see a sign or sandwich board on display, their rows of beer-filled coolers take center stage in this little beer cave. Beer snobs will enjoy the wide variety of American craft brew and foreign gems; many Belgians that you don’t normally see in to-go stores(Foodery excluded of course). Prices only okay, I’ve seen better but considering the damned PLCB and their puritanical regulations, I’ll pay for the variety($ 7.25 for an 11.2 oz. Delirium Noël, $ 5 and change for a Duvel).

With its 1950s neon sign and classic storefront, I’m always partial to this deli. Inside is a disappointment. It’s dirty, dingy, and the selections leave plenty to be desired. Specifically, you won’t want a sandwich, judging by the looks of the meat case, or the fact that Primo is right next door. Otherwise, you’ve got your basic varieties of chips, candy bars, soda, and the usual suspects. However, they do have fairly priced beer in ice-cold coolers. I like that. There are several delis/beer-slangers within a one-block radius, but with its friendly staff and again, that neon sign, this will always be my store of choice.
