Dee’s Place

If you like smoky dive bars and live in this neighborhood, I would suggest this as your regular spot. The bartenders are very friendly, drinks are cheap, and you can have a smoke if you want to. I will definitely be back!

Did a quick stop in just killing time before going to the movies on a saturday afternoon. Was pleasantly surprised.
Definitely a local-​joint; the dozen people in the bar (maybe a quarter of it’s capacity) seemed to all be chummy with each other, BUT they were extremely welcoming of my girlfriend and I (who were clearly outsiders, given that we were wearing «date night» fancy clothes rather than shorts and Phils shirts).
They had a free little buffet of sandwhiches, burgers, and dogs set up, and at least 3 people came up to me and encouraged me to go eat some («’cause it’s saturday, and the Phillies are on» I was told). That’s a pretty cool thing to find in a pub.
We ordered some mixed drinks, which were served in what i’d say is about a 6 oz chalice (so smallish, as mentioned), but I don’t think they skimped on the liquor, and were $ 3 a piece, so I wouldn’t complain.
I’m thinking to make this my standard pre-​movie drink stop in the future.

Pretty okay atmosphere. Nice bartenders, too. My only complaint is their mixed drinks. They’re like the size of Dixie cups.
