Having some friends over and the case you bought is running low, and you need a cheap 6-pack to get you through the waning hours of your backyard BBQ? Emily’s gets the job done. A warning though, they seem to have only 2 types of beverage– the $ 12 for a pack of Yards kind, and the loosies of Hurricane for $ 1.75. They also have tallboys of Pabst, Highlife, Genessee and all the other swill that hipsters who pay for beer with couch cushions drink. Various candy, snacks and soda beverages are available too. They’ve recently«renovated» their side room for people who want to enjoy a quick drink, require zero ambiance, and want to be served a cheap shot from behind plexiglass.

Look, your goal was to drink beer. I found that for this purpose, Emily will treat you alright. Don’t sweat the many layers of security glass and cigarette advertising between you and the cold stuff. The beer is moist enough to sog the ass of a freshly changed babe. And plenty cold. Thanks Emily.

I really wish people would stop fetishizing poverty and«the hood”– people like that move into our neighborhoods and price working-class people out. Look, Emily Cold Beer is like a hundred other places in Philly. It’s a convenience store/deli that sells beer. That’s all you really need to know, nothing special about it, no better or worse than the tons of other places in this city like it.

Emily’s sells an assortment of quality products, such as forties, tall boys, blunts, pistachios and cheesesteaks, at a low mark-up behind a glass screen. Discount if you buy your beer in bulk! I haven’t tried the prepared foods and I don’t intend to. The biggest drawback is the confined space, especially when crowded and particularly when crowded after eleven. Unless you like folks stinking of hooch breathing heavily beside you. But, what a small price to pay to experience some authentic urban flavor!

Definitely not as comfortable as Jeff Cold Beer. It’s cramped in there, but at least you can buy some basic food stuff with your cheap beer.
