My husband had the pleasure of getting his wedding suit custom made at Ernesto’s and cannot say enough of Ed and crew! The customer service, attention to detail, and top notch tailors made the whole experience exceed our wildest expectations. Ed spent hours with my husband and I helping him get the look and fit just how he wanted it. He certainly has a client for life with us and I would highly recommend them!

For my wedding I decided to have a custom tailored suit. If you think about it, you may spend thousands of dollars for the whole event, but the money worth more spending will be for the wedding gown and the suit, because this is what everybody looks first, and because they will be on most photos. Wedding photos are among the very few a couple can have with eternal value. The guys at Ernesto’s are very friendly and know exactly what they are doing. I worked with Darren, he was fantastic, very helpful with the suggestions (which I mostly followed), and not pushy, which in other businesses can be a problem that leads to wrong decisions.
The result exceeded my expectations. The details really revealed the amount of good work that was put into the suit. The overall fit was impeccable, and this really made the whole deal look outstanding; this cannot be achieved by getting a ready made suit, no matter how expensive it is, especially if your dimensions are «not standard». I am 6 feet 4 inches, athletic build, and I have always had trouble finding clothes that are neither tight nor buggy, and with he right size of sleeves.
I have now decided that I prefer to have one custom made suit than 2 – 3 ready made ones, and Ernesto’s is certainly the place were I will have my next suit made.

Cannot say enough about the great experience I had with Ed and Ernesto. Not only did they build a beautiful suit, but it was a pleasure to get to know them and learn more about their business.

I’ve purchased both a suit and a formal tuxedo– tux and tails, the white tie kind– from Ed, and I couldn’t be more pleased. The craftsmanship, fit, and attention to detail are superb. The lapels on my tuxedo jacket are made of silk, and the points on top are not sown onto the rest of the jacket, but stand up on their own. It may sound like a small distinction, but it looks amazing, and is representative of the kind of upgrade you get when you go with Ed at Ernesto’s! And the price was very competitive to simply buying off the rack at a place like B. Brothers. Ed was a pleasure to work with. I do not hesitate to recommend!

There is nothing finer than a perfectly tailored suit! Ed was a pleasure to work with, his experience and expertise can be seen throughout the entire process. Most of all by the finished product. Interested in classic custom suits & shirts? This is the best place in Philly. I started upgrading to custom a few years ago. No matter where you go in Philly (there’s plenty of great places), custom is a HUGE upgrade over what you’ll get at Nordstroms, Macy’s, etc.
The three places I’ve purchased custom clothing from BEFORE Ernesto were all good. The fabrics are nice, the fit is great. However — the people working there aren’t really experts in men’s style, they haven’t worked with suits for decades. Most seem to be recent college grads with an interest in marketing & fashion. You go in, get measured, pick fabrics, they send the order to Indonesia (or somewhere like that), and you get your stuff 4 – 6 weeks later. No complaints from me, I like everything I’ve gotten.
HOWEVER — Ernesto’s is such a nice upgrade. They’ve been here in Philadelphia for 50+ years, they’ve been doing this for a long time. Instead of just looking through fabric books, Ed took the time to educate me about different looks, materials, traditions, etc. So I was choosing based on «reasons why» instead of just picking a nice swatch, I felt that I was completing strategic objectives within my wardrobe.
One quick example about their attention to detail… when I was trying on my suit for the first time, Ed told me about one tiny adjustment he made in the pattern that made a world of difference. Apparently, my arms lean forward a couple degrees more than average. So he rotated the position of the sleeve by a few millimeters. What this did (and I never noticed until now) is eliminate the little bit of bunching I had in the back of the shoulder/​triceps area. Even my custom stuff had it. You wouldn’t notice unless you knew what to look for, but this just gives you an idea how much attention they put into each measurement, each garment.
Highly recommended. So far I’ve gotten 2 suits, 2 shirts. Will be going back for a couple blazers and 2 more suits soon!

I am a 22 y.o. recent college grad employed in the pharmaceutical industry. Not only does my suit from ernestos give me the confidence to go toe to toe with people twice my age in the industry, i also look damn good while doing it.

My father has had his suits made from Ernesto’s for many years. As a wedding gift, he treated me to a custom tuxedo. It is the most amazing suit I have ever owned. From the fabric selection, to the careful measurement process, to the final fit, everything was perfect. I have been going to Ernesto’s for about 2 years now. I initially started out with their custom shirts because I was tired of purchasing off the rack shirts and then bringing them to a tailor to take in the body of the shirt. My neck size is an 18 but I’m an athletic build so my issue was that despite getting «fitted» shirts they would always be way too baggy on me.
There has to be a better solution to this, right?! I had passed by Ernesto’s storefront plenty of times in my youth and decided to step foot one day to «build» the perfect shirt. A shirt just for me. Being a young guy and never having had a bespoke experience before I stepped in with a bit of apprehension. My apprehension soon disappeared as I met Ed and told him what I was looking for. He walked me through all the steps and was very attentive. Ed pays a great attention to detail and his customer service skills are excellent.
I recently graduated to a custom tux for my wedding. I had a specific look in mind and brought a few photos to Ed to see what he could do. He needed a few weeks to pull together material samples and to find the exact color I was looking for. In the ensuing months Ed and his team created a beautiful masterpiece which was a big hit on my big day.

I was tired of off the rack suits and wanted a special tux so that I would look extra special for my wedding. Ernesto’s came through in a big way. They spent a lot of time with me to make sure I had the fabric, style and fit I was looking for. They even accommodated my limited time frame. On my big day my tux was repeatedly complimented by even my sharpest dressed friends. Most importantly, my wife was thrilled and particularly loved the paisley lining.
If you are someone who likes to look their best, stop by Ernesto’s.

I am going to jump the gun and write a review even before I wear the suit. I don’t like the suit at all… I love it! I can’t wait to show it off to everyone-​especially my bride. I worked with Ed over months to tailor a slim-​fit modern cut black-​on-​black pin striped suit. It has a subtle floral wine colored liner, a ticket pocket, and the full button package. I also had a custom Roger Ximenz belt made of beautiful black Italian calf that has wine stitching. I never knew about half of this stuff before I went in there but by the time I walked out Ed had me feeling like a million bucks. He is very courteous, friendly, helpful, and professional-​not to mention extremely talented and well dressed! As I told Ernesto himself, «you taught your sons well». I can’t imagine a finer suit or service to go with it! Do yourself a favor next time you think it’s a good idea to buy an off-​the-​shelf tuxedo and think to yourself, I could have a plain old black and white tux, or I could have a fine custom tailored suit from Ernesto… not really a decision in my mind.

Purchased 4 suits from Ed and will be obtaining a 5^th… I’m hooked on the quality, customer service and outstanding fabric selection offered by Ernesto’s. I highly recommend this tailor for your custom clothing needs.

I purchased several items for my wedding this summer from Ernesto’s. As a somewhat little and oddly shaped man I decided to look for a custom clothier, and I found several recommendations for Ernesto’s at
. But few reviews here, and flip ones at that. Prior to settling on Ernesto’s I also checked out several other custom suit options (all in Philadelphia). I worked with Edward, who over the course of several months spent hours with my fiancé and I giving advice, making recommendations, listening to our requests and concerns, and being all around patient, charming, and helpful.
The final products were 1) a beautiful, exquisitely tailored, affordable full-​canvas custom suit that received many compliments, 2) a lovely set of matching ties for the groomsmen, 3) a sharp and classy second custom tailored outfit for the rehearsal dinner, 4) a bow tie that we purchased as a gift for the officiant, and 5) a minimal amount of stress. Everything was delivered exactly on schedule despite short notice, and with the requisite attention to detail for such an occasion. The experience was a pleasure in every respect.
For something like this a picture is worth more than my nice words, so I am posting a few and will follow up as they come in. Perhaps hardcore suit mavens can find fault, but we certainly could not. The next time I need clothing for an important occasion Ernesto’s will be my first stop.

Bought a full suit in Europe that needed some alterations for a perfect fit. Customer service was very professional, measurements were taken on my trousers (adjust waist, slim down legs, length adjustments). Three weeks later (which is kinda long), my trousers were ready… Perfect quality, perfect fit! Well worth the money.
