Staring deep into the vibrant flames of the fire pit. Liter of Bitburger at my side. Who makes it into the hall of life? Can we elevate ourselves according to some human scorecard by which we judge the deeds of men? The human mind is geared for animalistic competition and quickly jumps at the conclusion that we must rise above our fellow man. What if we should not be rising at all? Self-preservation maybe the quickest way to ensure a status, but self-sacrifice is the only confirmed way of earning it. How will we know we earned it? Well… maybe that’s the point. I’ll raise a stein to that. –RC

This bar is great on the weekdays or early on on a weekend night. The fire pits are awesome. They have heat lamps in the winter so you can sit out in the beer garden year round. They have great sausages and milkshakes. I also love the 2 beer sizes. Pro tip is that you dont get a discount for getting a bigger sized beer, so if you want to try more than one may as well get the half liter. If you want to look awesome, get the whole liter(~$ 14). They have pingpong, foozball and jumbling blocks(aka jenga). I’ve also been there for movie nights, science week, and they have some cool monthly events there. Get some food, hang out by the fire, then head over to barcade and play some arcade games! This whole street is great. Stop by bottle bar east to get some fancy beers to go to top off the night.

Overall is good!!! But they have no changing tables in the bathrooms. Everytime Ive been there, I have seen plenty of families with kids/babies… and there is not even one changing table. Place is good for kids & babies if you are willing to change them right there on your table…

Great Steven star restaurant in a hipster part of Philadelphia. The lighting and attention to detail was nearly perfect except for the bar. The horse shoe design made for difficult ordering when the bar was crowded. The acoustics is also pretty deafening. Prices of the beer were fair with several different option sizes. The food was not bad but fette sau bbq next door was much better. Overall, it’s a fun place for crowds and I’ll definitely be back.

F.H. has devolved into a frat-house style eatery that serves Americanized German food and beer. For the real deal, go to Brahmas Schmidt on South street.

This place was great! Stopped in last night with some friends. It was our first time here and boy am I glad we stopped. We’ve always wanted to check this place out. The atmosphere of this place is top notch! The outdoor area is superb! Even with it being cold, they had 30 or so heaters out so it was nice and comfortable. The bar is great, great beer selection. We ordered a few pretzels as well. Stephen Starr never disappoints. We will return.

Love the ambiance of this place. There’s so much room(for activities– LOL) both indoors and outdoors. I ordered one of their spiked milkshakes and my friend ordered a bunch of sides. The milkshake was pretty good! The sides were average. Giving this place 4 stars soley on how this place is laid out. The bar is big enough, and the place where your ordered food was separated from the bar — which is so convenient. There’s jenga, foosball, ping pong and etc available here.

I thought this was a really great modern Biergarten. I’ve been to Germany before and found it comparable in several ways. The place has a huge indoor space with bar seating, tables, ping pong, various board games and foosball. They have several German beers on tap and serve them in both half, and one liter sizes. They also have a great outdoor area with picnic tables, a large firepit, and several trees lit up creating an iridescent glow. We alternated and sat both indoors and outdoors because of the temperature. It was cold outside but they overcompensated and cranked the heat up inside. The good thing about sitting outdoors is that they have heat lamps ever where, the bad thing is you will get wet if it starts to rain. I can see this being a really popular hang out during summer. It is a little pricey, two 1 liter beers and a pretzel with cheese cost close to $ 40 with tip, but it was a damn good pretzel!

Love this place! Come on good craft beer, soft pretzels the size of your head, and Jenga on the table what’s not to love? Not to mention you can bring your kids here. Parents happy place. My kids loved the potato pancakes. Fishtown gem!

Frankford Hall is an awesome beer garden with both an indoor space and an outdoor space with a fire pit and heat lamps in the fall/winter. There is an amazing beer selection, including a few ciders, which is crucial for me. The décor is so awesome and it’s a great place to hang out with friends. There is even a ping pong table. I didn’t have any food, so I can’t speak to the prices and the quality.

I’ve been to Frankford Hall a few times and it’s always been enjoyable. It’s a big place, with indoor and outdoor seating, ping pong tables, jenga, and some other games. The beer selection is pretty good, and the food is delicious. It’s certainly a little overpriced, which is my only issue with it. The crowd can also sometimes be annoying(Fridays and Saturdays tend to be a little Bro-y), but other than that it’s great!

Frankford Hall is one of my favorite indoor/outdoor spots here in Philly! This place is great any time of the year — they have heat lamps for when the sun goes down or when it’s crisp outside. They’ve also got a fire pit or two that you can sit by and enjoy a nice, hot apple cider if you’re so inclined. I personally am not a huge fan of beer, but they have so many options(seasonal and rotating) that you’re bound to find something that you’ll enjoy! I’ve found a few beers myself that I’ve enjoyed and I am a fan of the beer cocktails too(although they’re a little dangerous)! The food here is pretty awesome too — I love the soft pretzel and the s’mores pretzel! Yum! They’ve got Jenga at the tables too(but we like to whip out a phone and play heads up!) so this place is all around fun! Definitely a good place to check out that’s off the beaten path of center city!

Big fan of Frankford Hall. There are few places like this in Philly where so many different people can just come, hang out, share tables, play games, enjoy great food, and drink enormous beers. Whether its a beautiful summer day or a chilly fall night, this is a great place to come and relax with good friends. Amazing happy hour specials make this a must visit during the week from late spring to early fall. Year round it’s an awesome spot to go out and not feel like you’re «going out.» The big picnic tables, benches around the fire pits, and games like jenga and ping pong just bring friends and strangers together. The beer selection is great. So many cool German beers that you can find a beer for everyone. And who doesn’t love drinking a beer out of a glass that’s bigger than your head? Especially during happy hour when they’re half price. As for the food, the sausages are delicious. Some mustard and kraut make them perfect. The pretzels, like the beers, are bigger than your head, soft, and great for sharing. The fries are maybe not the first thing you think of with German food, but they’re outstanding as well. The happy hour prices are unbeatable for the food too(most items dropped to around half price)! Hoping to spend more days/nights here in the near future. Other than parking in this area, there’s nothing to complain about. It’s a great time.

They serve one liter drafts in a huge stein, it’s pretty great. They’re $ 14 a piece and around $ 7 for a half liter. There’s a grapefruit hef on tap that is awesome, it tastes like candy. Huge outdoor area with a bunch of bonfires right now during the fall/winter. Inside, there are ping pong tables and a bunch of picnic tables. Great place to come and relax.

A fun night for sure ! Went here with a group of coworkers to celebrate a birthday. We arrived around 845/9pm on Saturday Oct. 10th. The line outside was soooooo long and didn’t seem to be moving, thankfully my group was working with security aka slipping them money. So that worked for us and we didn’t have to wait more than 10 minutes. It was pretty crowded inside but we managed to snag a table and didn’t wait long when grabbing drinks at the bar. The prices for beer and cider were great. My bf and I also opted to share a burger and fries which came with a side of curry ketchup. I ordered the chicken bacon burger which was delicious! It was really fresh and tasty and the fries were nice and crisp. I was not a fan of the curry ketchup but he enjoyed it. Overall we chatted, chewed and played Frankford Hall’s version of jenga and had a great night. I’d go back

I had a really good time when i came here with some friends. It may be a wait to get in, and sometimes, hard to find a seat, but once you settle in, this place is really fantastic. The beers and drinks and food are not badly priced at all for how much you get. Personally, I am not a huge beer drinker, but a server suggested I try the grapefruit beer that was on tap and it was so good that I went and bought a case of it as soon as I had a chance! After our beers, we switched to the cocktails, we all had different ones, so we could try all of the drinks on the menu. They were all awesome and very strong, so be prepared! The tables are big, and plentiful, but if there is a party that reserves tables, seating can end up being limited. They also have games available to play, my table had a few rousing games of Jenga while we enjoyed our drinks. Others around us were playing ping pong, and just having a great time! Food wise, we had the pretzels which were awesome! We also got fries, which were also really good. Would have tried more, but the portions are large and the beer is also filling so we were stuffed by the time we were halfway through the food. This is definitely a place to check out, and an awesome place for a group of friends. It can get loud, but that is to be expected for a beer hall! Be prepared to wait in a long line to get in when its really nice outside, since it gets very crowded. I didn’t mind the wait since I was with my friends and we were catching up during the wait, so it wasn’t that bad, but I could see it being annoying if you are anxious to get inside or don’t have a lot of time to spend here. I will certainly be back!

Oh how I love Frankford Hall! I remember when I visited Frankford Hall for the first time during their opening week back in 2011. A group of us enjoyed the entire space pretty much to ourselves, gathered around the fire pits with some beers in hand. Never will it be that empty again on a Friday night! Frankford Hall is my ultimate go-to place to grab a drink and relax with a group of friends. Good beer selection on tap, with 1L beer mugs that I can barely hold up to take a drink out of. They also offer what my friends and I’ve started to call«ghetto Jenga»(because it’s not actually authentic Jenga but toppling towers or tippling towers or jumbling towers or something like that and the pieces aren’t quite as nice as Jenga pieces), which is always a fun thing to do on the side while chatting. Being the board game lovers that we are, we often bring a game or two from home to enjoy while sippin on some beer and eatin some brauts. Their food is pretty decent, although nothing to rave home about. I am a complete sucker for their giant pretzels and great cheese dip — I am usually not the biggest fan of cheese dips in general, but Frankford Hall’s cheese dip that accompanies their pretzels is delicious and a must-get. On a night where I’m feeling particularly sweet-toothy, I indulge myself on their smores pretzel which offers an amazing blend of salty and sweet — the salted pretzel dipped in melted marshmallow, chocolate, and graham cracker powder? I am in love. Be warned though that this dessert is as sweet as it sounds, so only get it when you are in a serious sweet-toothy mood. I’ve had pretty much everything on the menu. From the sausages, my favorite is the Spicy Bauernwurst as I love spicy foods. Their Spätzle and potato pancakes are my other go-to when I am feeling something more than just pretzels and meat. I almost always have to eat french fries when I am drinking beer(terrible combination for my health), and Frankford Hall’s french fries accompanied by curry ketchup do not disappoint. Overall, the fun ambience and mostly pleasant service kick this place up to 5 stars even though the drinks are definitely on the pricier end. Its location near other fun bars in the area such as Barcade or cocktail bar such as Emmanuelle only make it even better if you are making multiple stops throughout the night.

My friends brought me here during my short trip to Philly, and I thought it was great! The day we went was actually a really nice night, perfect weather, so there was a bit of a line outside. However, I thought the line moved pretty quickly and barely felt like I waited at all. The bar is soooo nice and open! It’s definitely a beer garden type of place, they have plenty of standing indoors and tons of seating outdoors. Outside is lit with a bunch of lights, so comforting! They also have outdoor heaters and firepits of cold days. My friends and I were able to find a table without a problem, and enjoy our drinks. The tables usually have a game of jenga to amuse yourselves with, and there is also a ping pong table(if memory serves me right). I think the most unique thing about this place, is how when you sit outside, it’s like an outdoor food court! There are little windows where you can order food/snacks to go with your beer. I have no idea about the quality of the food, or what exactly is there, bc I didn’t indulge myself… but it looked great! This is definitely a great place to spend the night with friends and have a drink, glad I got to see it before I left!

My fiancé and I heard very great things about this place. The décor is very rustic and open. It is a great socializing location. The place is a German theme with the beers and food. They have tons of games that you can play like Jenga, ping pong, fuse ball, and other games. The beers come in .5L or 1L. The appetizers are German based. My fiancé got the fries with curry ketchup and a warm Bavarian pretzel with cheese sauce. Both were amazing. My fiancé and i enjoyed our drinks and appetizers outside while playing Jenga. It was a great time. The only downfall is the parking. There is only street parking which is hard to find. It’s great for big groups though on a summer evening. We would definitely be back with friends.

FRANKFORDHALL! So the GM is an Alum from Temple University’s STHM and I met him at a networking event and he told us to drop by and check out the bar! It’s in a good location, there’s valet, security, multiple bar areas, organized ordering area. It’s an outdoor venue with picnic tables, a fire pit, heating lamps and JENGA! I ordered the cider beer, fries(which was PERFECT; cripsy, nicely seasoned with salt salt. I think) and a sausage. I would definitely return for the fries and to try the other beers which they have on tap. It’s a great place to just relax with friends, enjoy beer, eat, and bast in the atmosphere of people have a good time. We came in around 6PM, at the time they were hosting an event where 10% of all of the sales would go to a non-profit organization, so it was packed! But we found seating pretty well. I would plan for expecting to wait if you’re coming later in the evening.
