Good service! Good food! Good atmosphere! Great stop for tourists, right across the street from a beautiful mural. Staff was very helpful, and attentive. Take a look at their seasonal menu! Delicious finds!

Food was great and they had us seated rather quicker than normal. The hostesses and waitress were great. But all the dead bugs on the window sill was kind of a turn off. Seems like there’s sitting water somewhere in the restaurant. There were also a lot of water spots on our utensils.

This place is a must if you are visiting Philly! Everything on the menu looks so good! We got the chicken and waffle Benedict and the short rib Benedict and they were both very savory! I explain expected the waffle to be bigger for the chicken and waffle dish, but there was still plenty of food on that plate! I think next time I will try the red velvet pancakes or cookie dough stuffed French toast, if they have it. It seems like their menu changes, but again everything looks tasty!

So good!!! Plates are large and quite honestly any pancake/French toast plates are large enough to share. Home fries were perfectly seasoned with peppers and onions and bacon consisted of nice thick cuts!

My friend and I were in Philly for a girl’s weekend and wanted to find a good brunch spot. After researching, we stumbled upon Green Eggs which ended up being on of the best finds of our trip. We decided to share meals so that we could do a enjoy both a sweet and savory meal. We finally decided on the crème brûlée french toast and the crab cakes. It was one of the best meals I have ever had… definitely the best brunch. Whenever I come to Philly, this place is a must! You have to go to Green Eggs for brunch. Also, Melissa was our waitress… she was awesome!

If you are off today, hungry and just sitting at home, you’re wrong! What you should do is slap some shoes on those hooves of yours and get down to Green Eggs Café, on the double! Everyone I know usually raves about this place. I didnt listen much. I mean, people use to rave about Pet Rocks and tube socks! That stuff sucks now! However, I was visiting the city one day and decided to stop in and I realized I made a mistake… by not going sooner! The food is delicious and the service is great. I dont know who hires the waitresses there, but give that guy(or lady) a raise! Like Arnie said(In every movie hes ever been in) I’ll be back!

I went to a concert in Philadelphia yesterday and was told to go to the Green Eggs Café by a friend. When my friends and I got there, it was a 45 minute wait; we waited and decided to walk around center city while we waited. The city was beautiful, the weather was gorgeous, and the wait was totally worth it. I got a special– Crab Cake Benedict which consisted of a house made crab cake on an english muffin topped with poached eggs, old bay hollandaise, and grilled asparagus with a side of house made home fries. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because we were seated outside(it was 85 degrees) and it took at least 15 minutes to get a water. They were also out of house squeezed lemonade which was a disappointment. Other than that I will 100% be back because it was great!!!

Make sure to bring cash, cash only place! Although there is an ATM there… charges $ 2.50 tho per transaction! I’ve come here a couple of times over the few years I’ve lived in Philly. The first time I ever came here, I ordered with a friend 3 of the most famous dishes here: Red Velvet Pancakes, Kitchen Sink, and the Crème brûlée french toast. I can understand why people say to get both a sweet and a savory, but the sweet was too sweet, and the savory was a bit too much. We like the Crème brûlée french toast the best– it was sweet, but not too sweet. The Red Velvet pancakes were honestly a bit too hyped up for me– I don’t get it. The first 5 bites were good, but then after that, it was just too much. The Kitchen Sink was good, but needed a balance of sweet bc it was too savory. Ive had the Crème brûlée french toast a couple times after that and is still one of my favorites. I went a month ago again, but decided to get different things. Wanted to give this place another go with other menu items other than the Crème brûlée french toast. My friend and I got food off the special menu. We got the crab mac & cheese and the cookie dough french toast. However, like the rest of the food. The crab mac& cheese was too savory, although it was good. The cookie dough french toast was better, but still a bit too sweet. The chocolate on it made it sweeter than it should have been. I did enjoy the bottomless ice coffee from La Colombe — since it was one of my favorite coffee places. Next time, I will stick to my Crème brûlée french toast or to the egg dishes.

Okay — I’m jumping on the Green Eggs Café bandwagon. This place does incredible breakfast/brunch. We stopped in for a late morning weekday breakfast and were promptly seated. I vaguely remember coming here before a couple times last year and not being too impressed — that was not the case this time. We started with iced nutella lattes, which might be the best coffee-based drink I have ever had. We then decided on one sweet dish, the crème brûlée french toast, and one savory, the Kitchen Sink, to «balance each other out». Needless to say, there was no «balancing»; both dishes were decadent and delicious. The french toast came slathered in fresh berries and the perfect amount of raspberry sauce/syrup, the whipped cream was fresh and clearly home-made, and the french toast itself had a creamy center, firm exterior, and intense vanilla bean flavor. The Kitchen Sink was a beautiful mess of biscuits, sausage, and copious amounts of gravy, served atop pan-fried potatoes in a cast iron skillet. We both could barely finish half of our respective dishes, they were so rich and the portions so generous. The service was friendly and prompt — they are cash only, but there is an ATM located by the bar that only charges a $ 0.99ATM fee. When we walked out, we almost simultaneously turned to each other and said we’d have to come back soon.

I arrived as part of a group of 6 on Friday around 12:30PM, and had a 20-minute wait. Not bad! I was extremely satisfied with the chicken and waffles benedict, and also pleasantly surprised that we could choose among different sides — home fries, rosemary home fries, side salad, and grits — at no additional cost. Update: my friend ordered the creole shrimp and grits, and the grits were dry and hard, not cheesy, savory grits that one would expect. Thus, while Green Eggs may specialize in southern-inspired brunch items, it unfortunately does not specialize in grits. Tl;dr — classic place for huge and delicious brunch portions. Beware of the line!

This place is amazing! Unfortunately, it was so amazing that everyone wanted to get in even on a Wednesday morning. We had to wait about 20 minutes and they didn’t take reservations. However, it was well worth the wait! We got in and ordered red velvet pancakes, crab mac and cheese, chicken and waffles benedict. The chicken was well seasoned and delicious, although slightly on the dry side. Went really well with the waffles and the homefries were delicious. The crab mac and cheese was also good, with the crab being really sweet and fresh. For desert, we got a child-size red velvet pancakes which was KILLER. The chocolate ganache filling inside made it a delectable delight, with whipped cream and red velvet seeping through. All in all, a great place!!!

Stopped here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Wait was estimated at 25 minutes but we waited for about 45 minutes. Once seated we waited about 10 minutes for our server to greet us and take our order. Once inside we realized the restaurant isn’t large and the wait made more sense. The restaurant makes good use of the spacw they have. There was no sense of a rush to leave once finished with a meal which I appreciated. I had the smoked salmon benedict and my friend had the eggs your way and meat on the side. This was my first time trying smoked salmon and it was yummy. The portion size was enough for 2 meals so I took the rest to go. Overall pretty cool experience.

Green Eggs Café is a must try brunch spot in philly. They have a extremely unique menu and their food is ultra insta-worthy. My favorite is The«Kitchen Sink.» It comes in a cast-iron skillet with all your breakfast favs. The bottom layers are stacked with potatoes, eggs, sausage bits. Then the top layers are two buttery homemade biscuits smothered in smoking pork sauce gravy. My friends are big fans of the red velvet pancakes and the crème brûlée French toast. Both are stacked high and will satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth. Cons: they do not take reservations so it can take a while to get a table and is difficult for large groups. Also, it is cash only so don’t show up just with your credit card.

Visited: 02/26/2016 Warning: CASHONLY We visited for brunch and was super happy that we came! I loved their Red Velvet French Toast that was highly recommended! :D Apparently during our trip, it was certainly french toast filled. I admit my favorite french toast in all of Philly throughout the trip was definitely this Red Velvet French Toast: D

Green Eggs Café has been on my «Places to try» list ever since I’ve moved to Philly and I FINALLY got to try it, and it was amazing! The service was friendly and prompt and the food was spectacular! I ordered the Chicken and Waffles Benedict, and it was everything I imagined it to be: the waffle was crisp and a touch sweet; the fried chicken was very light, crispy, and not oily; and the egg was poached perfectly! The hollandaise sauce was delicious. I’ve had some sauces where it was a bit tangy, but this one was smooth and there was a little bit of hot sauce in it so it had a little kick to it. I drizzled some syrup on top as well and everything together was phenomenal! My friends got the red velvet pancakes and the crème brûlée french toast and everything was super delicious. The pancakes were served with a light crème in between 3 layers of pancake, and it wasn’t too sweet and very fluffy. The crème brûlée french toast looked spectacular and I’m sure tasted really good too! I also had a crème brûlée latte and it was very well made! Just the right amount of sweetness for me and I could still taste the espresso. This place is cash only! If you forget or don’t realize it until you get to the café, there is an ATM inside. Breakfast is served all day and their lunch menu looks awesome as well!

One of the best brunch places in the city! The entrees at Green Eggs are unique and delicious! I especially like the savory options here; the sweet ones can be a little overwhelming in my opinion, and I usually get tired of them before the meal is over. My personal favorite dish is the Kitchen Sink: a biscuit, gravy, scrambled eggs & veggies, sausage, and cheese all served in a hot skillet. I’m also a big fan of their eggs benedict entrees; I recommend the short rib and veggie. On the down side, the wait on weekends can be a little ridiculous, so I generally try to make plans for week day brunch. Overall, solid brunch place if you’re looking to try something a little outside the box!

This is such a great brunch spot. Perfect place to start if your going to be schlepping around city hall area. Airy sunlit open spot with lots of tables. We got a nice table by the window. We started with the Bacon Bloody Mary which was amazing. It had a smokey bacon flavor because they use a housemade hickory vodka. The thick slice of bacon in the drink was so yummy! I have been dying to try the chicken & waffles and I’m so glad I went for it. Not a normal menu choice for me. The sweet syrupy waffle with the crispy salty chicken thigh topped with the buttery poached egg is perfection in every bite. My friends & I agree it is the best! My friends had the philly Taylor pork roll benny sandwich it was delicious pretzel roll topped with pork roll, cheese, poached egg & schiracha. A side of fresh berries balanced the whole meal off. A great spot! We went during the week so no lines. On the weekends it can get crowded. I’ve often see lines out front. Worth the wait though!

I came to Green Eggs at 2PM on Saturday, and there was a 30-minute wait(unsurprisingly)! I ordered the chicken and waffles, which had such wonderfully breaded, spiced, and succulent chicken. The sweetness of the waffle and maple syrup perfectly complemented the salty, spicy, and crispy chicken. I was satisfied(in addition to the 2 poached eggs on top — yum)! A friend ordered the apple pie french toast, which was huge and apparently rather sweet, so the fluffy and light whipped cream and baked cinnamon apples were much appreciated. Tl;dr — classic place for huge and delicious brunch portions. Beware of the line!

I am more than satisfied with Green Eggs Café, and it’s safe to say I’m a fan. I am sad I didn’t make it in when they were BYOB. Being breakfast is my favorite meal, I was super excited to visit after stalking all of the pictures. I first visited after staying at a nearby hotel for my fiancé’s birthday breakfast. We visited again a couple of weeks later with a couple of picky people, putting Green Eggs to an unspoken challenge. Some of the items we have tried: –The chicken and waffles has all the discriptors of a perfect meal — sweet, spicy, crunchy, fluffy, heavenly. –Kitchen sink — if you love savory breakfast items like I do look no further. Potatoes, onions, peppers, sausage and buscuits all smothered in a creamy savory gravy. –Red velvet pancakes– I am not a fan of sweet breakfast items but I HAD to have these, even if just once. It taste like red velvet cake batter cooked into pancakes filled with sweet cream and chocolate chips and topped with fresh homemade whipped cream and strawberries. The stuff dreams are made of!!! –crème brûlée french toast — large topped with whipped crème and fresh fruit. Sweet yet fresh. — thick cut bacon… yummmm. Thick, salty, crunchy goodness. –silver dollar pancakes — fluffy, fluffy, and fluffy! — MUST get a carafe of mimosas Do yourself a favor and RUN here. But if that is not an option, there is a parking lot across the street $ 25, parking garages close by for a more reasonable $ 15 during Saturday AM anyway, and the Patco 12−13th and Locust stop literally across the street. We arrived around 10ish on Saturday morning and were quoted 25 – 35 minutes but only waited 25. Around 11am I can imagine the wait was more than an hour. We walked over to the bar and grabbed a cut of tea, nice quality teas by the way. No reservations and no call aheads, which sucks. Atleast text people when their table is ready. We were told we could go to the bar for drinks yet the hostess didn’t come looking for people at the bar, they only went outside. Seriously think about it Green eggs. Very reasonably priced considering portions, mostly all entrees under $ 14. Cash only, obviously. They remind you when you call, when you are seated, before you order, and maybe even before you use the restroom. Thanks, I get it you ONLY accept cash lol.

First off I just wanna say the service was great. Needed to catch a train so I ordered the kitchen sink and crème brûlée to go since everyone else’s Unilocal review recommended it. Within 15 minutes breakfast was packed and coffee was ready to go. Portions were more than enough for 2. The crème brûlée was delicious not to sweet, almost perfect. The kitchen sink had every breakfast item throw in and mixed in with gravy poured all over. Different bites of taste every time. Pretty good for a variety of flavors. Would definitely come back for more!

3.5 stars rounded down to 3. Oh, Green Eggs. Philly is TEEMING with awesome brunch options, and Green Eggs doesn’t usually come to my mind until waaaay down the list. I can’t fully get on board for the following reasons: –Preeeeetty high price point for basic(albeit well executed) breakfast and lunch fare. You can definitely find comparable food for cheaper elsewhere. –The wait times are insane on the weekends, and it never quite feels like you can relax and take your time here because chances are there are 17 groups waiting for your table. –Used to be a BYO, but not anymore. I love me a good morning buzz and with these prices, those mimosas really add up. That being said, the food is pretty good. I like their basic breakfast plate with eggs your way, toast, potatoes and breakfast meat of your choice. The sweet breakfast options are all tasty but I’d recommend splitting unless you have a SERIOUS sweet tooth. Interesting takes on eggs benny which are also solid. Lunch-wise, the buffalo mac n cheese satisfies my never-waning cheese craving. The portions are large, & I almost always end up with leftovers. If you’ve never been, it’s worth a visit, but I prefer to brunch elsewhere.

I really liked their Vegan French Toast. The only issue was the strawberry syrup. It was good but it was a little too ubiquitous. If you order the Vegan French Toast, ask for the strawberry syrup on the side. My biggest concern about Green Eggs Café was the laminated card at every table that says«We don’t comp items you are not satisfied with.» What a terrible message to send to patrons when they first sit down! This screams«Customer dissatisfaction comes up a lot here!» That card has me seriously considering whether or not to return. Additionally, the day I visited their bathroom was out of service. That is not a good look for a restaurant that serves lots of coffee.

I’ve been here a couple of times and also live across the street. The weekends are always PACKED and expect to wait at least 30 – 60 minutes. I don’t think I’ve ever stepped out of my apartment to not see a crowd in front of it. I was disappointed once(do not get the breakfast burrito. it sucks here) but pretty content with it every other time. The regular fries are SO good! I think they might be double fried though. The red velvet pancakes and the French toast could feed 3 people — they are very dense, but really good! The ALT is okay — they make it SO massive though so its hard to eat. I suggest the ALT at the Green Eggs in Northern Liberties.

Come here at noon on Saturday or Sunday and be prepared to wait on line for a table for hours. Just don’t come when its raining or cold out or u will be forced to sit out there! The food is yum and plentiful. The restaurant is not the cleanest and the server half ass wipes the table while your sitting at the booth. Previous guests food are still visible.

I was hoping the service wouldn’t be the same as I read in previous reviews, at least from other locations which made us choose this one. I was told over the phone it would be a 15 – 20 minute wait for two people and Green eggs was packed at 11am on a Sunday morning, as expected. The hostess greeting people outside the café said it would be a 40 minute wait just 25 minutes after I called to check how long it would be. Not the best first impression. Since I had my belly brain set on this place I convinced my bf to wait the 40 minutes. We walked around the store next door. 15 minutes later I said we should just check and see the wait, and 5 minutes later we were called to be seated. The hostess didn’t smile and was on her phone almost the entire time we were waiting. The food was really great. We loved the short rib Benedict and chicken and waffles Benedict. Both perfectly cooked, super tender and delicious! We split the crème brûlée French toast and it, too, was soo good. Just the right amount of sweetness, topped with cream and berry compote Mm! Grits had more of a creamy, kind of gooey texture to them. I didn’t care for them, but on that note I’m not sure how grits should traditionally be prepared. Service wasn’t bad, we didn’t have to wait too long for our food but we did have two waitresses come back and forth to our table. Be sure to look in the back wall by the kitchen for specials and it is Cash Only! ATM inside. Enjoy!

If I was a dead man walking, and I could have one last brunch, it would be here. Get there early to avoid the wait, which can get lengthy. I wish they’d upgrade to calling you on your phone, so that you could wait at one of the many nearby bars. The food itself is immaculate. I have never been steered wrong, but I particularly enjoy the crème brûlée French toast, the kitchen sink, and the breakfast burrito. The French toast is light and fluffy and encapsulates that burnt sugar taste of the famous dessert. The kitchen sink is a hodgepodge of flavors, with potatoes, eggs, veggies and more thrown into a pan and served with a delicious gravy on top. The burrito comes with guacamole, which I think should be a part of every brunch. No longer byob at this location, they have a number of drinks on the menu, should you be interested.

Red Velvet Pancakes.(Enough Said) Also the best bloody mary I’ve ever had. Obviously go with the Bacon. This place gets busy on the weekends, and does not take reservations. You will probably wait if you don’t get there early. I assure you the wait is worth it. The portions are HUGE. My girlfriend had the red velvet pankcakes and ate about a 1⁄3 of them. I got the salmon benny, and the amount of salmon that was on there was ridicouls, more than I have ever received anywhere else.

After seeing countless raving reviews and mouth water pictures of Green Egg’s Red Velvet pancakes I finally made it there for breakfast. I arrived at 9AM on a Wednesday and was seated with my two guests right away at a long table that we later shared with another party. The menu is small, which is fine because you should just focus on the Red Velvet pancakes. There is also a board which lists out specials, sadly I didn’t see this until my departure as my back was facing it. Regardless of what was listed there or on the regular menu, I ordered the Red Velvet Pancakes. Three large red squares arrived in front of me, topped with strawberries and cream. Inside the pancakes I found more cream and chocolate. These were DELICIOUS. I would suggest splitting the order as I was only able to eat ¼ of the plate. Keep in mind you will be paying for the quantity and quality, these three pancakes will ring up at $ 15 a serving. The staff is okay here. Multiple people waited on us, I don’t think there was one specific person waiting our table. The staff also made me feel very rushed, so if you plan on dining here– make it quick. Located in the city, parking is limited. But there is a parking lot right across the street, a Patco on the same block and even a bike rental stand right outside the Café. All of which make it very easy to get to Green Eggs.

Okay, id like to begin on the positives as this is an awesome place and a must if you want to have a filling breakfast. Tip: they only accept cash BUT there’s an ATM inside. I’m visiting with two other friends from Florida. I ordered the veggie Benedict and with a side of red velvet pancakes(ordered them in kids size for $ 7). I’m glad I went with this order because the Benedict was excellent but I did have some room left over. My friends had a three egg omelet and vegan ALT — their comments include«tastes great but portion size could be a filling dinner»… By the time I had finished my red velvet pancakes the plate looked like a crime scene :) From a southerner, definitely was on point but the Benedict could have had some pepper for a kick. Red velvet wasn’t super sweet which is good. Now… The con. We had 2/3rds of our party and they refused to take us so we had to sit out in the cold for 26 minutes instead of seating us and giving us the option of a smaller table and/or seating us and allowing us to order for our friend running late.

We returned to Green Eggs(with a bottle of champagne in hand) over the summer for another amazing brunch… walked in to read a sign saying that they were no longer BYOB. Womp Womp… :-(It would have been nice if they had this on their website, or told us when we put our name in at the hostess stand. I had a vodka drink with muddled berries, that was pretty good, and a Short-Rib Benedict that was on point, as usual. The food is still amazing at Green Eggs. I just wish they were still BYOB, like the other two locations.

I have had this place bookmarked forever and finally I had a chance to go. Coffee nice and strong. The omelette my husband ordered was very good. My dish was disappointing. First I ordered the chicken and waffle. My expectations were really high since this is supposed to be one of dishes they are well known for. First bite — cold waffle. I don’t ever send stuff back but the waffle was not edible. I let the server know and he quickly apologized and ordered an new one. By the time my dish arrived, my husband had pretty much finished his plate but it was okay because I was going to enjoy mine. My plate made it to me and the waffle was perfect. Score! Then I cut into the chicken and it was tough and had an unusual color. Was it undercooked? It was fried chicken but the crust was not really present. And well I just could not get past that strange color. I had ordered the home fries with pepper and onions & what I got was rosemary potatoes. My potatoes tasted totally different than my husbands even though we ordered the same thing. The service was fine– coffee refills offered plenty of times which was appreciated. $ 40 for breakfast with tip– can’t say I’d recommend or come back.
