Turns out the«escalation» process ultimately routes you… back to the same person who did your taxes the first time. They refused to refund me any of their charges, despite admitting that the person made significant errors on my original return. They did make corrections and refiled my taxes, resulting in a check from the IRS for a few hundred dollars that I should not have owed them. YOU are tax professionals and should get it right the first time. The amount of time spent on this far exceeds what it would have taken to figure out how to do it myself.
