I Brewster Company

I have bought numerous works from this gallery over the years, including 2 Wesselman prints and a Liechtenstein print. Their prices are excellent, though their service isn’t. You often don’t
get calls and emails returned, which is unfortunate for them, as it undoubtedly hurts their business.

I’ve been a client of I. Brewster for almost 30 years. I’ve had many dealings procuring high-​end Pop Art – Warhol, Lichtenstein, Rauschenberg, and from a collector’s standpoint, have been very satisfied with the price and condition of the works procured from the gallery.
I was fortunate to snag two separate Andy Warhol original paintings from Nicky, some years back. I took them to the Warhol Foundation’s Offices in Chelsea when they were still authenticating. The paintings I bought from I. Brewster were approved by the Warhol Foundation and hand stamped and signed again (and numbered) by the Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
Despite recent media noise, I have to disagree with those who are slamming the gallery based on customer service and shipping grievances. I’ve worked with Nicky most of the time, but have also worked with his son, William, and his other son, and various folks who’ve cycled in and out in managerial roles assisting the owner. I’ve had great experiences, and at times felt frustrated. But for the purposes I go there, I’ve never been let down.

Absolutely horrible to deal with. I tried building a relationship with them, with the intention of spending $ 10,000 on pictures, but they told me to ‘go & bother another gallery’! I could never get more than a couple of words out of them when I emailed. I’d recommend people don’t spend their money here.

I don’t want to believe there is anything shady going on here, but customer service is clearly not their strong suit. Placed an order on Saturday. Told to expect on Tues, then Wed, then Thursday, now Fedex says next Monday. «Our packer was out». What BS !
Yes, their prices are good, but you need to be prepared to put up with way too much lack of customer care. Truly unfortunate…

Perhaps you can get a lower price from this Gallery but I concluded after a week or more trying to get a straight answer from them it was not worth the effort and aggravation.

Had a terrible experience dealing with these people. wasted my time and cost me money in backing out of an agreed upon deal — a very unprofessional bunch to deal with. Why anyone would put up with such rude and arrogant business practices is beyond me. There are plenty of fine galleries to deal with, nobody needs this aggravation and curt treatment when expecting to be treated in a professional manner from those holding themselves out to be professionals!
