This shop has always been amazing, despite Ava’s awful, easy-​to-​be-​negative review. So what that the carpets are worn. Who cares? One person’s dive is another person’s treasure. Some people love to be hyper critical, and it’s boring. Fact is, there isn’t another store in CC like this one. As for worn carpets, well I’ve seen worn carpets in expensive French restaurants and even in the Union League.

Really affordable, wonderful and unique clothing. The store owner was my favorite thing about my shopping experience here. She is a nice older woman with great movie taste and an awesome sense of fashion. Chat with her, browse the clothes, and take advantage of the cheap deals!
The store is hidden on the second floor and it was so empty, it almost felt like the shop closed just for me. I had a lovely time her and I left with 3 pieces I absolutely love and that I won’t see on the racks at H&M or Forever21. Definitely check this place out!

We stopped in this place after lunch. I have seen this store a few times and had to see what was inside. The reviews here have been pretty good but I must say, my visit here was less exciting than a lot of reviewers. Perhaps things have changed in a YEAR since the last review. I’m sure the owner or clerk has been pleasant at one time or another but whomever was working that day was not too happy. My first impression of this store upon arrival is that it’s TIRED and WORN OUT. The place looks likes it’s on the brink of closing. All of the framed movie posters are for sale in the hallway (why are there movie posters here?) Anyway, the inventory reminds me of things I may have found at the Goodwill in LA in 2008. There were Guess? velour tracksuit jackets with rhinestone embellishments (not even the hand set embellishments, either. Glued), an Ed Hardy jacket (yuck) and Kasper suits. She had two great items, a Louis Vuitton purse. Authentic? It looked to be so. And a DVF top that was new with tags for $ 250. Everything else looked like it was fresh from the Goodwill (shoes not even cleaned up). The carpet looked like it was 35 years old. Overall, this place is a dive. and not in a good way. I’m sorry to give a negative review. I hate to do it, really. But more than anything, I am bugged by businesses who get complacent. When you have an opportunity like this, in such a great location like this one, either sell it, hire a new Buyer or just give a shit about your store. If you’re looking for amazing prices with a variety of brand name and designer items, head over to Sophisticated Seconds on Sansom St. For real.

I’ve been to Immortal many times now and just wanted to point out the reasons that this shop is a «must-​visit» location in Center City.
First off, the shop owner knows her stuff and will go out of her way to help you find items and look your best. She also has a great eye for style and her suggestions are right on the money. Second, the quality of the items are great. You can find modern and vintage from J Crew to Gucci. Immortal always carries a wide range of items in a range of sizes, so every woman can find something in the cozy shop. Third, the quality of the experience. On my last visit, I brought a friend of mine from New York, and up on entering the store, the shop owner said, «you will be ‘immortalized’!» and we certainly were. The experience was like being pampered by a personal shopper, in a store that feels more like a wardrobe room set up just for us! Needless to say, I always walk out of that store with several items from clothes to accessories and handbags — my friend walked out with several items as well and vowed to come back and visit for more shopping at Immortal Uncommon Resale!

Immortal is a solid 5 star shop. Why? Well, let me count the ways:
1. Owner knows her stuff & has great consignors.
2. You can find things you won’t find elsewhere in the City both contemporary & vintage: like 1970s YSL wool skirt, 1960s Mollie Parnis lace dress, Karl Lagerfeld shoes, NIB Icon loafers, Gucci loafers, Tods driving shoes, Prada, Manolo, and other designer items usually found online.
3. Owner is knowledgeable and offers the best designer handbags — especially vintage bags from Koret and others that are hard to find.
4. You will hear the truth from the shop owner about how an item looks on you– she would prefer to lose a sale than have you wear something that doesn’t suit you.
5. The best costume jewelry at fantastic prices.
If you are looking for a fawning shop owner, forget it. What you’ll get instead is a style professional who has a shop full of high quality items that make for solid wardrobe staples at excellent prices. There you’ll find designer offerings not always found in shops: Moschino, Chanel, Dries Van Noten, Missoni, Geoffrey Beene, Bill Blass … If you don’t like looking like everyone else — you have found your best go-​to shop.
If you want warm & fuzzies — call your mom. Otherwise, go shop with Caren. You won’t be sorry. And you’ll look fabulous. Trust me on this.

I am from the West Coast and shop consignment throughout the U.S. and this shop is one of the best. Great items and knowledgable owner. Purchased a full length fur coat and 3 pair of tods shoes. Will go next time I am in Philly!

this place isn’t too bad. all of the reviews seem to be on citysearch, so i figured i’d post something here.
there’s a pretty good selection — unique and mostly high-​end stuff. you will see a lot of «made in italy» labels — not just stuff that looks nice but was made in china, but some real quality goods here. it’s a fairly small shop with a nice variety of clothes, shoes, scarves, gloves, hats, & jewelry.
i personally didn’t find anything that worked for me, and i don’t know if this is really a good match for young hipster types — there’s lots of stuff that would be appropriate for a «business casual» office environment or a semi-​formal party.
the owner of this business does not have a spectacularly ‘warm’ personality. she definitely will NOT lie to you if she thinks an article of clothing you’re looking at won’t work for you. personally, i appreciated that about her — she wasn’t pretending to be someone she wasn’t or lying to me just for the sake of a few bucks.
anyway, on citysearch, others have described her as ‘abrasive,’ but i can say that she was definitely NOT abrasive with me… as i said, she just doesn’t have a particularly warm demeanor. however, she was very friendly, personable, and chatty with me. while i was sort of terrified to go into the store based on some prior comments in other reviews regarding her attitude, i actually found her to be delightful to interact with and i will happily return to this shop every time i visit philly.
anyway, if you’re looking for some classy, well-​made, decently-​priced high-​end consignment, and you don’t feel the need to be coddled by the shop owner, i definitely recommend this store.
