Love going to Jacks! Eddie, the owner, is the sweetest man on earth and knows everyone. Deli meats are delicious and very reasonable. Cookies are phenomenal. Catering is spot on. It’s a great place!

Best place to come and eat a nice cheap breakfast. Wonderful atmosphere and friendly workers. I definitely recommend Jacks as the place to come for breakfast.

Jacks has been around for many years. And the other day was first time I ever Tryed hear. Desided to get some breakfast. It definitely needs some upgrading on the inside. It didn’t stop me from eating hear but hopefully Mabe it the future it gets alittle updated. When u walk in the morning for breakfast. Basically it’s like many other restaurants you basically sit your self and wait for a server to walk along. First thing I was ask do I need a menu and that was a yes, and what would I like to drink. Well of course COFFEE. when I received my coffee It was in a very small cup. And it was by far the worse water down cup of coffee I ever had. They need to upgrade the coffee of something. Because it’s really bad. Other then the coffee. I had 3 eggs, home fries with onions and sausage link with white toast. Breakfast was perfect. Home fries had a nice crisp, eggs done to perfection, and sausage was good. your typical breakfast sausage. I don’t know if I would ever go back until they change up the coffee brand. When it comes to coffee I always have to have it with my breakfast. So not having good coffee is Always a let down.

Got breakfast sandwiches this morning. My gf went to Jacks to pick them up. We wanted sausage egg and cheese on a bagel and pork roll egg and cheese on a bagel. We got omelets on bagels. Overcooked eggs with cheese and bits of our respective meats. It was garbage. I guess technically it’s an egg sandwhich. But this is not how it should be done.

Dirty! Dirty! Dirty! We hadn’t been to this place in 12 years and i don’t think it had been cleaned since then. Ugh. My kid had to change seats to avoid the half grilled cheese and puddle of syrup under her chair. The servers and busboy were unkempt as well. I was afraid to eat the food! The server was slow as molasses, forgot our french fries and did not check on us once. Took forever to get a refill on water. Food was just ok but NEVERAGAIN! Just plain gross. And dont go in the bathroom either!

My wife’s family has been going to this dump for 60 years. My mother-in-law passed a few years ago, so I have not had to go to this place for a while, until recently. I do not see how this place stays in business. It is always dirty, the décor is from the 70s, and did I mention it is dirty!!! Years ago, I came into the bathroom and the staff was cleaning it. It looked like a monkey had been in there, throwing their poop everywhere, I have never seen a sight like that. What I remember the most is one of the cleaners saying, «Go get the ice bucket!» I never ordered ice in a drink after that. Also one time my wife bought some whitefish salad at the deli and brought it back to the table. We were all sitting around drinking coffee after having a $ 200 lunch and my wife decided to try some, and while she ate it, the owner came over and said she could not eat it at the table since it was from the deli! The thing is their food is pretty good. You just have to block out the fact about the cleanliness, and you will really enjoy the food. The problem is that their primary customer base is dying off(World War II generation), and most of their kids(the Baby Boomers) that go there still since their parent’s went there are not going to keep it in business when they pass or move out of the area. I do not see millennial couples coming in for lunch. This place has so much potential. All you have to do is clean up the place, update it to a 21st Century décor, and hire a more professional staff. It would be better if they could buy the business in their strip mall and build some kind of banquet room or dining room. I will be surprised if this place is open in the next few years. There are just too many choices out there. You cannot rely on a 60 to 90-year old customer base and the fact that people will come since it a so-called real authentic Jewish deli.

Jacks was the best before I moved away from Northeast Philly 20 years ago and, surprisingly, still is after having moved back. Still great corned beef, whitefish and chopped liver. I think the same guy still cuts the lox to order! And still perfectly I might add. I’ve not found a place that does it better and at super good prices like Jacks. Love, love this place!

Over the last year or so Jacks seems to have dropped in quality. After several less than impressive meals I had to acknowledge they were just not having a bad day. We stopped by recently and again the servings were not up to par. Nova was of a lesser quality than in the past and the browning lettuce that accompanied my whitefish salad platter was really unappealing. Think it is the first time ever we did not take home the leftovers. Also, I found it interesting that it has seems less busy than normal. Sad to say this well established deli appears to be on the decline.

I stopped at Jacks on my way home from work to get some breakfast sandwiches for my family and I. This was some of the worst food I have ever tried. Can’t say eaten because it was seriously inedible! The scrapple was soggy and you could wring out the grease! In fact everything on the sandwiches taste like old grease! I waited about 25 mins for two sandwiches and a side of scrapple, I was charged $ 18 and came out smelling like a grease trap! Had to jump in the shower because I could not get the smell off me. Oh I also got a side of Chicken salad that was rubbery and had no seasoning at all… Gross! This is just my opinion but if you have a nose and taste buds stay away!

I live in California so I never get the opportunity to have chipped beef, but OMG when I had it here it was AMAZING. And the prices are ridiculously low. My breakfast, with a drink, was like 5 bucks. The portions are huge and the staff is amazing. Whenever I am back in philly I know exactly where I’m headed

I alluded to Jack’s in a previous post about another deli. Thing about Jack’s is, they set the bar pretty high for me so the other place really paled in comparison. Having grown up in Northeast Philly, I frequented Jack’s quite often, and I guess I’m just spoiled. My first love is their white fish and white fish salad. No matter where I go for Sunday brunch, it always comes down to that. And all of the other deli and menu items I’ve had over the years at Jacks are above average as well. I don’t want to sing these praise too high — because I’d like to be able to get a seat next next time I stop in :-)

Been coming to Jack’s with my family for as long as I can remember. This is the place to get your matzoh ball soup, chopped liver, potato knishes, whatever… it’s ALL great! Recently had a 50 person deli tray delivered for a Shiva and Eddie took great care of us. Allen, Eddie, Dawn and all of the staff are always professional, fun, friendly and make you feel like you are at a friend;s house, not a restaurant. Huge menu and great for kids… plus, you ALWAYS win in the crane machine!

Awesome food. I took my family of five for lunch and paid less than $ 30. That included a Jack’s special for my wife & me, a plate of onion rings for the table(a small is enough for a family with kids), and hot dogs & fries for each of the kids($ 2.95 each)! Jack’s special(corned beef, slaw, and russian dressing) was really good, and highly recommended for anyone who likes corned beef. Looking at the menu, I can’t wait to take my family for a brunch.

Need to thank all who have given Jack’s Deli such favorable reviews. I need to buy Kosher«something» as I will be going to my first ever Shiva today. My choices were Jack’s or «another Kosher deli» in Northeast Philly. The other place has terrible reviews and Jack’s reviews are all superior. I’m heading to Jack’s now.

We live in L.A. though my wife is originally from Philly. No trip to Philly would be complete without a meal at Jack’s. The garlic croutons are the best; I always buy a couple of boxes to take home. Wish they could be ordered and shipped. Never had a problem finding parking when we were there.

One of the best diner/deli places in NE Philly. Great onion rings, great selection, nice staff. Service is always fast, but not too fast, tables are available of various sizes, food is very tasty and fresh. Small downside is the parking, but still never really had a problem finding a spot, but you have to be diligent in avoiding older drivers.

The only good thing I will say about Jack’s is that they are cheaper than some other Jewish delis. The matzo ball soup is pretty much the same as any other place. It smells better than it tastes. The dining room is dreary and dim. Perhaps I am bitter because I was«let go» from this place after like a month of employment because it was so slow, but I do truly feel that my current employer(another Jewish deli, though in the suburbs) does the food better. Jack’s was almost always empty, their parking lot is tiny, and I just don’t think the food is great.

Wow, I’m really surprised Jack’s only has one review! Perhaps the people who eat here are not Unilocal!fans. :) Anyway, if you’re in NE Philly, I highly recommend stopping by and getting a corned beef sandwich, or a bowl of matzo ball soup. Just about everything on the menu is delicious, generously portioned, and reasonably priced. I was going to take one star off for the overall cleanliness factor, but then I decided that the food and comfort level of Jack’s far outweigh any possible sketchiness. Just be fast in the bathroom.
