This place is the real deal. I have been to all the good places in philly for Za(barbuzzo, osteria, zavino, bufad, pizza brain) and this place competes with all of them. It’s not your traditional old school Neapolitan style pizza. It’s plain and simple, thin crust, two options(either sausage or cheese) done the right way. For $ 2 a slice… How can you beat that.

I order pizza from this establishment and when I opened the box to eat a slice there was hair on pizza I immediately called and spoke to manager and he informed me that he would replace only 1 slice this place is disgrace!!! He would not replace the pizza and I notify him that when preparing food you must have hair nets and gloves obviously this establishment doest believe in this procedure!!! All I can say is nasty ewww!!!

My husband is from uptown and swore that Kings had the best pizza in Philly. I didn’t believe him. I consider myself a pizza expert and i thought that the best pies were from Taconellis(sorry about the spelling lol). I took him to Taconellis and still he said Kings was better. The next week we make our way to north philly. The line was out the door but it moved fast. When we got in there were 2 guys about as old as Jesus himself making the pies. I look up at the menu and there is literally 3 options. Cheese, sausage and if you order a whole pizza you can get pepperoni. That’s it NO fries NO cheese steaks just pizza. Oh and fountain soda(the strawberry fanta is crazy good). We get a large half cheese half sausage and OMFG!!! ITWASTHEBESTPIZZA I HAVEEVEREATENINMYLIFE. LIKEREALLYTHEBESTFUCKINPIZZAEVER! !!! It was piping hot and the ingredients were so fresh. I had collected my garlic, oregano and red peppers because i like a lil extra flavor but I didnt need any of it. I think the location is the only reason it hasn’t been discovered. My husband’s mom said they’ve been open for like over 30 years the same old guys. It is a Philadelphia institution. You have to visit

If you are ever in the area, this pizza place is an absolute MUST!!! I have been getting pizza from them for almost 20 years. They have simple plain slices, nothing fancy. No elaborate décor, just Bangin’ slices!!! I don’t live in the area anymore, but I always try to make it down there every once and awhile. They never ever disappoint and I will always be a King of Pizza fan! And don’t forget the cherry soda– Its mandatory!!! :)

This is a classic, old-school pizza parlor that has supposedly been around for quite some time. You can watch the workers hand-make everything in front of you as you order at the counter. The place can get busy, but there always seems to be hot, fresh pizzas waiting to be sliced up(no pizza sitting for hours under Plexiglas here). If the ‘za has been sitting out for a while, the workers will throw your slice(s) back in the oven. Choices are limited. You can get a slice of cheese($ 2.00) or sausage($ 2.25). Rumor has it that if you order a full pie, you can get pepperoni, but I haven’t tried it out to know if it’s true. Slices are the perfect size and have a perfect amount of grease – enough to make it tasty but not so much that it turns you off. They also carry the perfect soda to wash everything down with – Fanta Wild Cherry. The staff is friendly and seems to care about their pizza. I definitely recommend King of Pizza if you find yourself on this exciting stretch of Germantown Ave.

This has to be the best pizza in the Hood I have ever tasted… Fantastic Pizza. The staff is very ol’ school pizza shop with the hats on. They are very courteous despite their location and speedy. Plus the slices are like $ 1.80-$ 2.00. This is normally my Saturday afternoon fix since I work during the week. King of Pizza has the best pizza in my neighborhood.
