Terrible food, terrible delivery guy. The horrible delivery guy WILL get upset if he shows up very early, rushes you to open the door 4 flights down, and you forget to bring any cash to tip him. He was furious when this happened and called me the B word. Then after he left he started TEXTING me insults and telling me that if I don’t have money for a tip to not order food. Wow, I mean did I not pay for the food? All this for food that wasn’t very good at all. Sad I don’t feel like using the Unilocal eat 24 app again.

Really really like this spot! First its a BYOB, which is great, saves money! Second the menu is great! They know what they’re doing in that kitchen! The lamb dumpakt is delicious and the tandori fish is amazing. I’m usually not a fan of rice pudding but theirs is really good! Nice place for take way or dine in.

Food was tasty and flavorful but the delivery and packaging was not good. Suggest all to dine in rather than take out or delivery

I always pass by here, and decided on a whim to give it a try coming home. The food and service was awesome. The environment is calm, clean and quiet. I ordered the Chicken Kurma and it was delicious! The sauce was cooked perfectly, sweetened with a hint of almond. King of Tandoor is located in a good spot, safe, and room to park. Friendly staff, I would highly recommend if you are looking for quality Indian food in the Fairmount/Spring Garden/Comm College of Philadelphia area. I will be back soon! Thanks guys! Also to other guests: pay in cash and get 10% off of your check :-)

Based on the very mixed bag of reviews, it seems like we ate at a completely different restaurant than a lot of other reviewers. The service was great, food came out fast, and everything was delicious. First of all, can’t beat a BYO red wine with Indian food. On top of that, I liked their thin bread with the assorted condiments. They give you a lot of them, which was nice, and they went really well with the samosas too. We ordered the lamb achari, saag paneer, and chicken mahkanee with cheese naan. All three were excellent with the chicken beating out the others by a slim margin. I must say though, the cheese naan was the best I’ve ever had. It was super fluffy and had a considerable amount of cheese in it. We loved it dipped in the mahkanee sauce. This is definitely going to be our go-to Indian spot from now on, but we need to remember to bring cash to take advantage of the 10% discount!

Food is only OK. Slow delivery service, once waited two hours for a small order. Delivery drivers are extremely lazy, they try to make you come out to them to get the food. Driver argued with me over the phone and said he refused to bring my food up to my apartment and that if I didn’t come down to get it he would leave. So he left and I called the restaurant and they said they would send another driver. Absolutely not ok, so I canceled my order all together and won’t order from them again.

One of the less than average Philadelphia Indian Restaurants, King of Tandoor, like all places, has it’s ups and downs. Good: — Food is priced well for being just outside Center City — The environment is good for dining in Bad: — Curry is waaay too oily; not sure what is going on here — Time to order was a bit long — When calling for pickup during my one experience, the employee really butchered everything I said. Somehow Harshal sounds like Marissa. When I went to get my food it took some time to sort it all out.

Food is average, curries are oily. For the price though, it’s passable.

Food service was quite delayed. there was hardly any taste in the food weather it’s curry or bread. prices are quite high. If you are really looking for good taste food. I will not recommend this place.

King of Tandoor is staple for me living in the Spring Garden area as I use their delivery(through Eat24 ordering) about once every 10 days.(always fast delivery) This is seriously good Indian food. I’ve worked my way through the appetizers and could go for any — the samosas(veggie version) are excellent. I’ve tried a few of the curries including tikki masalla and vindaloo and generally up the spice as the first spice level is a little bland(as one would expect). Also a fan of the poori bhajee. Orders have always been accurate and delivery fast. It’s not only a go-to, but after trying Tiffin on a few occasions I am set solidly on KoT. A tad pricey, but competitive among Indian fair here. Review is delivery only — never eaten in the restaurant.

Picked up an order to go from King of Tandoor recently. This was our first time ordering from here, and as soon as I reached the counter to pay, I noticed there was a sign that said you would receive 10% off your bill if you paid in cash. The server specifically asked me if I was going to be paying in cash, to which I replied, «Yes, it’s 10% off, right?» And he said, «Actually,. No, not for this order.» After I gave him a very confused response, he finally said, «Okay, I’ll give it to you anyway.» … But your sign and the Unilocal app BOTH advertise it!!! MAJOR turnoff. Money aside, the food was pretty average and I was not impressed at all. We had the chicken tikka masala, bainghan bhartha, a couple of samosas, bhujia, and two types of naan. Overall the tikka masala and bainghan bhartha were both pretty lacking in flavor. Samosas were ok, and the bhujia was so deep fried that all you could taste was grease. The naan was fine, but how can you really mess that up?

We stopped over for lunch after cycling for about 11 miles. We were hungry like a beast. My friend ordered chicken sheekh kabab — it was good however oily. We ordered their veg curry which is one of their special items — the curry was dipped in oil. When we asked the waiter about the level of oil — he just giggled. We were disappointed. Here is a pic and the curry is not really a curry!

We really love this place in our neighborhood. We tried Butter which also does delivery, but we settled on King of Tandoor. Delivery takes 45 – 1 hour but you can order through the Unilocal app. Very convenient. My favorite is the chicken mahkanee and my daughter and I fight over it. It’s almost to the point where we have to buy two since my husband will have some too. My husband loves their lamp chops, too. Really yummy food.

Man, this is my new love affair. We’ve ordered delivery indian food in the area a few times, and this place is by far our favorite. They have a wide variety of tandoori dishes, biryani, many types of breads, all the indian classics and my favoritre samosas ever! I am super addicted to the tandoor lamb chops($ 16). the order comes with 7 or 8 large, perfectly cooked lamb chops and sauteed onions. We also are huge fans of the chicken makhanee(sp?). it’s some of the best I’ve ever had. we’ve tried several of the diferent types of naan and stuffed bread, which have all been great. The best part is they deliver and you can order right from your Unilocal app with the eat 24 function. How can you beat THAT???

First time here. I had the chicken malai which was pretty good. The service was very prompt, everything came out quickly and still hot. Fairly intimate place. Good for dates or groups of 3 – 4.

Ordered delivery which arrived in 45min. Entrees on the pricey side for the quantity/quality. $ 13 each for vegetarain food in a medium container. 10% off if you order on their site + pay cash. Malai Kofta-generally not my favorite Indian dish, but this was creamy and big chunks of kofta. Makani Paneer-The paneer was that fake paneer that I hate. I felt like it was baked tofu. Tough to eat when paneer should be creamy. it’s a cheese! There were a few huge chunks of it. At least the gravy was good. Neither were oily! ++ Rice to curry ratio terrible! Barely got any rice! Disappointing because the rice was good. I think this place is pricey for delivery. Glad it wasn’t oily and heavy, but the paneer dish was womp womp.

PS. The Vegetable Biryani was even better than the Lamb Biryani! PPS. For those favoring spiciness, the Lamb Vindaloo out-spiced the Chicken Biryani, even with both diners asking for the spiciest the chef could produce.

Just ordered up a storm from here! Minimum $ 15.00 order on GrubHub and no delivery fee(which is why I chose this place as opposed to another Indian restaurant). I have never been amazed by their food, having tried it 4 times now. Today I ordered the paneer makhni, vegetable korma lunch special, vegetable samosa, and sweet lassi. The paneer dish should have had more paneer in it, but the curry was okay. I ordered it at medium spice level, but it was barely even mild. The paneer cubes were too chewy — can there be an Indian restaurant that makes fresh paneer instead of using frozen paneer please?! The vegetable korma was actually more flavorful and tasty. The lunch special came with naan and I was very pleased that it wasn’t all buttered up! Samosas were too doughy. The sweet lassi was amazing! I have had few better and finished it in like 2 minutes hehe. Dining in is BYOB! There is a beer distributor conveniently right down the street. A previous time I ordered from here, I had to change the address for delivery because I made a mistake on my order. The person I talked to was quite rude and sounded exasperated when replying to my request. He ordered me to tip the driver more… Obviously, I would have since he had to drive a farther distance, but this was unnecessary. Overall this place is okay. Good for those days when you’re craving restaurant Indian food.
