Kol Tzedek (Voice of Justice) is West Philly’s start-​up congregation for everyone who couldn’t stand going to synagogue, everyone who has ever felt alienated at a fancy synagogue, and everyone who has ever felt that the Jewish community was going meshugeneh over Israel, politics or dogma. Their Rosh HaShanah service is the most down-​to-​earth, festive, meaningful and inspiring you will ever go to (short of a Rosh HaShanah service with the Dalai Lama). What Rabbi will hug you with smiles like Rabbi Lauren? The congregation is made up of an LGBT-​friendly, educated, multicultural, activist and artistic «mixed multitude». On a shoe-​string budget, they offer Hebrew school and mini-​courses for adults, searchers and the old-​schooled alike. May a 1000 Kol Tzedeks bloom!
