Not the best, yet not the worst bubble tea place in Chinatown. Their prices are slightly higher than the competition(but only by a dollar or so), but their options are not as exciting. While places like Tea-Do have fun, delicious combo drinks, the one«fun» drink I tried at Kung Fu Tea(brown sugar ginger) was overly sweet to the point where I literally couldn’t finish it. I normally don’t have a problem with sweetness at all; in fact, I have a huge sweet tooth(100% sugar is fine with me) but the brown sugar ginger was so syrupy that it was difficult to swallow. The regular teas I’ve had from Kung Fu Tea were fine — after the event with the brown sugar ginger, I stuck to only 50% sugar. The boba is nice and chewy, and the tea flavors are on point. As someone who loves bubble tea and never has cash, Kung Fu Tea will never be my go-to — there’s a $ 5 credit card minimum, which means you either have to order a large drink, or buy more than one. Overall, Kung FuTea is a pretty decent bubble tea café; just not the right one for me.

I’m a frequent patron of the Kung Fu Tea in Virginia. Got the ordering down like a pro, and I know exactly what most of the drinks taste like and which ones I prefer. I usually order KF milk green tea, passion fruit green tea, passion fruit slush, matcha red bean slush, yogurt grapefruit, yogurt green tea, winter melon milk green tea, Oreo milk tea, taro slush, or matcha milk strike. If I can, I’ll adjust sweetness levels to at least 50% and lower. On a road trip up to New York, we stopped in Philly for lunch and afterwards decided to grab some Kung Fu Tea for the road. I ordered my usual matcha milk strike without anything else and didn’t make any adjustments. Unfortunately, the matcha milk strike was not as good as the one I had in Virginia. They put too much powder and it was extremely bitter, even after I mixed and mixed. I could barely drink it. In the end, I had to dump most of it away. My experience at Tea Do last time I was in Philly was much better. I still remain loyal to the Kung Fu Tea name, but I would be cautious with my drinks at this location.

Overall this franchise is not bad, but this place is lacking a bit. Their tables could be more clean, and their lighting could be less dark. Also everything is so sweet! I always order less sweet now. However, their tea is still pretty good, and their creamer is very creamy.

Trying to find a place that one can study and have a coffee, tea, beer, and be relatively quiet is sometimes difficult to find in this city. Too bad the local library doesn’t allow food & drink. Came to Kung Fu Tea on a lunch break from work recently, and had one of their tea drinks, which was very good. I didn’t explore if they had a food menu or not. Just wanted to sit and do some work I had to get accomplished in peace without the boisterousness of unbridled youth. I like to try the latest«bubble tea» places in Chinatown, and see what they have to offer, and how they’re all different. Although they’re all modern in design, I’m not a fan of the über hip layout of some of them. This is a nice middle ground. Will definitely make my way here again.

Eh, I have been giving bubble tea more chances. Maybe it is an acquired taste; after all, it did take me 16 years to like mushrooms. I ordered my drink. They have a sign at this Kung Fu Tea that shows the lingo when ordering for less sugar. Less sugar means 70%, half sugar means 50%, little sugar means 30%, no sugar means 0%. The first time I was here, I just got winter melon milk tea normal. I felt that it was too sugary with too much ice that blocked me from slurping all my tapioca balls. The next time I was here, I ordered the coconut milk tea with less sugar and less ice. Perfect, that drink was on point! I can’t wait to go to my local Kung Fu Tea. Thanks for the help fellow Unilocalers, I was able to discover the secret of appreciating bubble tea: less sugar, less ice. Both times I walked out of here, bubble tea in hand, all these cute Asian girls darted their eyes at me. Score!

Visited: 02/25/2016 We came here after dinner and it was average because in Duluth, GA there are so many of these types of drinks, this place doesn’t really phase me. Actually, there are two Kung Fu Tea places in GA now: D I’m more biased towards Kung Fu Tea because of the tea taste. This time I ordered a warm drink and it was delicious: D So, whether you’re in Duluth, GA or Philadelphia, PA, know you can visit a Kung Fu Tea: D

This place is average. I want to give this place a higher rating because they are 1 of only 2 places in Chinatown that serve winter melon tea. Unfortunately, they are just not consistent enough. I ordered other drinks here before but they were all forgettable. I literally don’t remember what i ordered from here because it wasn’t particularly good. I think i got stuff from the marketing materials on their walls. I recently went and ordered a cold winter melon tea with cream on top(thought it was salt foam). It was whack. It just tasted like milk and no tea flavor. When I order my regular winter melon tea(hot or cold) i ask«no sugar». Some employees say ok, while others say you need at least 50%. I dunno who is right or wrong. Some employees make it well, while others make it taste like sugar water. I always beat myself up if the drink comes out overly sweet or with no tea flavor at all. It’s pricey for just premixed tea!!! I usually skip the bubbles or jelly because i’m poor and can’t afford the up charge of .50 cents. I hate to compare, but toppings are FREE in NYC! And its like $ 1 – 2 cheaper for the same drink! LOL. It cost me $ 2 for a large winter melon tea with bubbles in NYC but $ 4 for same drink(which is made incorrectly). I’m trying to cut back on coffee so i replace it with tea. But with limited options in Chinatown, it’s been a struggle! Of course, these are all first world problems…

The closest thing I’ve had in Philly to real milk tea. When I first moved to Philadelphia I was so sad about how horrible the milk tea was, and I tried nearly every place in Chinatown. As an avid drinker of milk tea, I was so happy this place opened! This is now my one and only place to get milk tea in Philadelphia. You can also adjust your sweetness or change out your toppings for pudding or jelly. A bit overpriced than what I am used to or in comparison to rest of Chinatown, but hey, they’re the only place doing it right

Loyal customer to my favorite little bubble tea shop! I always order the bubble milk tea with 30% sugar and it is by far the best I’ve ever tasted! Their tea and bubbles are sweet, ever so slightly floral, and indescribably delicious like no other. I also love their onigiri, my favorite being the KF Special with kani, seaweed, egg. Yum! As for the atmosphere, it always seems to be spacious when I walk in and lines out the door when I walk out. In other words, it’s a constant flow unless it’s a weekend night. People are almost always relaxing with groups of friends and playing jenga. The employees are very comfortable behind the counter, so they don’t usually fake a smile, which I oddly find respectable. Not to mention I’m there so often that I know they work long hours, so don’t knock them for their seemingly blank expressions, they’re very helpful and nice when you need them! Definitely recommend~!

Kung fu tea is a really nice spot for a quick take out drink and snack. The drink menu is very large & offers much variety. Hot, cold and slushy drinks are available. There’s so many things to choose from that it took me a few minutes to decide! I ended up getting the iced peach oolong tea with mango jelly. It wasn’t that sweet, I like it sweet though but that’s ok. Looking closer to the menu you can actually order different levels of sweetness. I know this for next time. The drink itself had chunks of canned peaches and of course the mango jelly that I added. It was nice and refreshing. They also have quick bites such as onigiri, which I got the spam one, and a nice variety of French macaroons and cakes. I saw so many other drinks that I wanted to try, next time I’ll have to try the Italian mocha slush, that’s next on my list

I come here pretty often. More often than the average person haha. I must say, their Milk tea is to die for. It’s probably one of the best Milk teas in China town. However, I believe that kung fu tea is overly sweet so, I usually get mine with 30 percent sugar. Their bubbles are probably one of the best qualities about them because they don’t taste bland. There is a sweet taste to it compared to most bubble tea places. It goes really well with their teas. I HIGHLY recommend trying their KFT special. It’s an onigiri with kani, seaweed, and egg. It’s pretty inexpensive and it’s tasty!

My favorite bubble tea place in philly. Best thing is they prepackage for you with carton and bag if you order more than 1. I always order 2 to share but I have to drive them home so it’s a huge plus to have them ready to go in a carry out bag. Staff is always friendly and more than happy to package them to go. I always get their green milk tea. Prices are about the same as everywhere else but I like that it’s a bit more quiet and away from all the crowds.

Got a taro milk tea with pearls and it was delicious! I think better than Vivi’s in NYC actually… the pearls were just the right consistency/sweetness. I asked for 70% sugar and I actually think that was too sweet so half might be the way to go. Added bonus are the takoyaki snacks that they serve! I got some to go and they came out piping hot, and although the presentation was a little lackluster the flavors were really good.

Great bubble tea that you can customize to fit your own likings! Kung Fu Tea has an amazing variety of teas, from fruit teas to milk teas to wow milks, there’s something for everyone on the menu. You can choose your sugar level; I usually go for half or less(70% sugar), and it’s still sweet enough for me. Add toppings like pudding, bubbles, red bean, or aloe to your drink for an extra $ 0.50. Drinks come quickly, usually less than 5 minutes. There’s ample seating and various games to play while you enjoy your drink. Always consistently good, definitely my favorite tea joint in Chinatown.

Kung fu tea would have to be my favorite place to get my daily fix of bubble tea. I really like how it’s a nice place to hang out with friends and it’s spacious. Their boba is always cooked to perfection and is always the right texture(always cooked in the center, doesn’t get clumped). My favorite drink would be the black milk tea with bubbles!

Still a solid bubble tea place in Chinatown. I came here yesterday in the aftermath of snow storm Jonas. I ordered 4 drinks but I think the cashier misunderstood me and put me down for 5. So I got charged an extra drink and ended up having an extra drink but maybe that’s God’s will for me to drink extra that day… so oh well! Otherwise, the drinks are delicious as always. I’m a huge fan of the pudding but my pro tip is that you ask for 50% sugar or less and less ice to get the best taste(and you won’t overdo it on the sugar) & your money’s worth!

Love this tea place! First had them in NYC and now they’re expanding! Their boba is honey-like flavorful and perfectly chewy while their teas are just refreshing. You can order the amount of sweetness(I normally get 30%) and also the amount of ice(I like mine just regular). Please come to Baltimore!

Turns out, really just need to find the right flavors – I knew this in SoCal, that certain shops are better for certain flavors – it just took me awhile to find what I liked at KFT: jasmine milk tea, no ice, 30% sugar, with herbal jelly instead of boba. Note that this is a very *NOTSWEET* drink – which is why I like it, and why I’m pretty sure most of my friends would absolutely hate it. This is me + hubby’s drink of choice(luckily we have an agreement that any time either of us is in Chinatown, we buy two of these, large size, so we can both enjoy!) I’ve been coming here more frequently than Tea Do now! Few caveats: * Credit card limit of $ 5 is super annoying. Luckily, as noted above, hubby and I always buy 2 * No rewards, wtf. * 4*s for philly standards – I don’t think any boba on the east coast registers on the west coast scale(and to be fair, nothing on west coast registers on the Taiwan scale)

If I’m craving boba(which is all the time) my go-to spot is Kung Fu. Admittedly, I constantly go for the wintermelon milk tea, but I am always extremely satisfied with my order(my partner loves the coconut milk tea, if you want another recommendation). Similar to several other boba establishments, you can choose your sugar level and add-ons. Speaking of add-ons, I need to make it known that they have the best bobas I have ever had. It is always flawlessly chewy with a slight, but perfect amount of honey flavoring. While I could talk about how great their drinks are for days, I am bummed that I have to pay an extra 50 cents for add-ons. I know the 50 cents won’t break my bank, but bobas are usually already added in the tea/price. The shop has ample amount of seating. I’m talking about large U-shaped booths that can easily fit 6+ people. They also have wifi and a $ 5 card minimum. As for service, I’ve never had to wait more than five minutes for my drink, but at the same time, I have never had a cashier who seemed happy to be there — but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying myself!

Solid bubble tea establishment located in Chinatown. Cool interior decorations and lighting and trendy music. This location has a good amount of seating with a television located in the back area. There are two bathrooms as well and friendly service. It can get loud in here with all the asian college students or people in general I believe there’s a $ 5.00 minimum on debit card purchases so it seems as if you have to buy two drinks or perhaps add a pastry or dessert. The bubble tea has different options for sugar level just let them know when placing your order. They even have some games to play while hanging out inside. It’s not a place to try and study but hanging out is cool. I would try this place out if you haven’t yet or are just in the area. It can get busy in here but they are usually ok with the time it takes them to complete the order.
