My BYOB of the Month club landed her this month. Italian food is so good on a cold and rainy night! The place is cozy and nicely decorated inside. We shared some apps to start, mussels and a caprice salad, both good. For my entrée I had the penne special, which had lump crab meat, shrimp, and a creamy sauce. We finished up with a couple cannolis to share, and the waitress brought us an extra on one the house, which was really nice. The food was good, and the prices were very reasonable. Parking is pretty plentiful in this area too. It’s also a BYOB, and takes credit cards.

(4.5) I spent an awesome Sunday night here… Great little spot. So beautiful and cozy. This place has 8 or 9 tables at most, but I hear it gets pretty packed on Friday’s and Saturday’s. There was only one other table taken when we got there, and later on another group of people walked in. The décor is simple but very warm. The service was excellent, very relaxed and not rushed. We had the bruschetta and the caprese. Both very simple but incredibly flavorful. I would have had a million of those two. Then we had the veal piccata and one of the house specials. Both were incredibly tasty and beautifully presented. The sauces that came with both dishes were to die for. For dessert we had a tiramisu and a cannoli and neither disappointed. The prices were reasonable for the quality of the food. Everything tasted very fresh and looked fantastic. I will be returning many more times… especially because they make their own pasta(which I still have to try!)

This past Saturday night my husband decided to have a nice dinner out. Modo Mio was booked solid, Valentinos was closed, so we decided to wander until we found something new, bad decision. It was a last minute decision to go out, so it was partly our fault. We found ourselves drifting past Langostini at about 9:20pm — the hubs walked in and asked for a table for two and we were sat. There were two tables outside and two table inside of groups of various sizes. However, the waitress looked pissed to be waiting on us — she was curt and unpleasant. My husband was starving — so he ordered a salad, mussels and chicken Marsala — I just ordered pasta and picked a bit off of his salad and app. I am not joking when about 40 minutes passed between the time we were sat and the time we walked out the door — we felt extremely rushed. The two groups sitting inside left while we were eating. We were not offered coffee or dessert — not that we would have ordered it at this point. While the food was pretty good, the service was terrible. I UnilocalED the restaurant after we left — only to see that they«closed» at 9 — so my question and disappointment is — why sit us and treat us like pests if you closed before we even walked into the establishment? Tell us you are closed so we could have gone somewhere else to enjoy dinner. We both have worked in the restaurant business and would have understood being told that the kitchen was closed. Grrrrrrr. I feel like they just sat us to make a few extra bucks and didn’t give a hoot if we had a nice time or not. There are far too many Italian BYOs in Philly to make a return visit to this place.

I live about 25 steps from this place, the food is amazing, and unless it’s Saturday, in which case it seems that there are standing resies for large italian families, you can usually sit for as long as you want and have a leisurely meal. Everything is made to order, they will honor requests off the menu. I take one star away because it’s more or less sporadically open. I’m not sure what the deal is but it has only been open toward the end of the week lately. I hope this isn’t a bad sign! They also play a ton of sinatra which was cool, until at one point we realized we were definitely listening to a christmas album in May. ;) Still awesome!

Ok, not sure when the name change happened, but I know this place as Langostino’s. I have been coming here for about 8 years now and have seen it go through about 2 or 3 different owners. The menu has stayed the same, which is great. I come here for the gnocchi, which 9 out of 10 times is homemade. The one time it wasn’t I was really dissapointed and mentioned it to the server who claimed to not know what I was talking about. Anyway, they are little pillows of heaven. I usually ask to have the cognac sauce with my gnocchi — it is fantastic! It’s a small place, service is always good. BYOB. Overall, a nice neighborhood spot. When we can only get a 5:30 or 9:30 spot at L’Angelo, we forget it and come here.
