I went to order a drink and the bartender told me there was a $ 20 minimum which legally isn’t allowed in PA. When I informed him of this he poured both drinks out and walked away. Bartender was about 5’5″ brunette. Very rude

The worst place ever. The old blonde women Bartender is a bitch. Don’t know how she got the job with her racist ass! The owner should be ashamed of hiring someone like her to work at his establishment. I will def be telling people Not to go to this place ever.

My star rating is purely based on the DJs music selection last night. Out of all the cool, hip and funky tunes he could have played he gave us Whitney Houston and Bön Jovi. Really? It felt more like an elementary school disco than a rocking club. His mixing was less than basic and he bounced from genre to genre with absolutely NO finesse. Thumbs down! Not groovy! Get a DJ that knows his stuff…

This review is based on the concept of this place being a performance venue. Unless you only want 20 – 30 people to attend DONOTCOMEHERE. My show hasn’t even started yet, I got here an hour early and there’s no where to sit and my feet hurt. Plus, it’s May and this is above a kitchen so needless to say it’s HOT. Frankly, I’m annoyed especially with the caliber of my show, it should have been clear this is no place for someone that sells out 95% of the time. Hopefully this never happens again.

Great bar with a speakeasy feel and lots of space to dance. There’s also a large room off of the dance floor with chairs for people to sit. It has a is a coat check and private bathrooms. I believe the cover is $ 5.

I went here for a First Person Arts Story Slam. I started off thinking the club was a little cheesy but I actually came to like it. Particularly I liked how cheap ciders were. I would definitely go here again.

Stumbled across this place after eating dinner at the restaurant downstairs. Very cool ambiance and I liked the crowd as well. They played mainstream music as well as some things that you would never hear at any other clubs, like Bjork! Love this place

Rude Bouncers. They shut the bathrooms down before 2am and won’t let you use the facilities before you leave. Very unprofessional!

This little off-the-beaten-path joint is my new favorite when I don’t feel like going all the way to center city or dealing with the douchebaggery that is all of South Street. You wouldn’t even know it’s a nightclub when you walk by it, it’s that unassuming. $ 5 cover, FREE coat check, fun dancey, sweaty vibe, and a French apartment style ambience complete with pink walls and cabaret lighting in the adorable bathrooms — you can’t go wrong. As for the music, it can vary. I was once here a couple years back where some dude without even one iota of DJ equipment legit just played Drake off his iPhone and walked away for the whole night. That sucked. This weekend was much better. The DJ actually DJ’ed and transitioned/blended seamlessly in between songs. Some of the music, however, he should’ve reserved for the closing time window. There’s throwbacks… and then there’s bad music that’s just old, which is what he seemed to be playing A LOT, so as to cater to the bubble vested bros. I’d rather not hear N*Sync or Backstreet Boys until I’ve reached my end of the night 4 – 5 drink minimum in which listening to bad throwbacks are somewhat tolerable. Unfortunately, he did play a lot of this bullshit. Honestly, the best part was around 1:15AM, when the dance floor finally started to clear out a bit and he played the good shit like Missy and reggaeton and whatnot. We even started a brief, spin-the-bottle dance-off on the floor. The setup is so awkward and tight so getting a drink can be a long process and since it’s so loud, the bartender told me(I think?) that they didn’t carry Corona or Miller High Life, which I find hard to believe, but whatever. I spent most of the night being told by security to not stand in front of the server station at the bar which is near impossible since you’re either there or in the walkway of people coming and going. The bottle service area is just in the way since no one was even sitting there, and there’s a lot of wasted space in the second bathroom/coat check area(bonus: an extra bathroom really makes the wait not that bad!). Overall, pregame before you come here, flirt with the hot tattooed bouncer, grab a drink the second you come in the door, and hold out with the packed crowds until around 1ish when it might start to clear so you can really get down. PROTIP: Don’t be that a**hole that says«umm excuse YOU» when someone nudges by you on the dance floor. It’s packed brahhh, deal with it.

We paid a cover to a bouncer who disregarded the maximum occupancy and waited 45 minutes to get served. This bar is horrendously understaffed and overpacked for a profit.

I came here this past Saturday night for a birthday party and I’m such a fan of the vibe /music and interior here. It’s definitely got a burlesque bar feel to it which I love but the music was all 2000’s hip hop which I am obsessed with. The crowd is definitely older and by older I mean 30 – 40’s. Being in my late 20’s I don’t mind but I could definitely see why some of my guy friends refer to this as a cougar bar. I’m a fan and I can’t wait to come back!

Worse bar ever! There was an issue with my bill, they charged me for drinks that I didn’t take. I complained politely and the security guy came to tell me to stop if I wanted to stay. In sum I paid 3 times what I had to pay and they refused to give me back my customer bill. Don’t go there !

Great music, minimal cover, servers are very nice and security always does their job, with help from the DJ but always bring cash because opening a tab means youre willing to pick up your credit card a couple days later.

We had a great time here on a Saturday night! $ 5 cover charge. The DJ was pretty good, playing a good mix of current and older stuff and he kept the dance floor moving. The place was full, but not overcrowded. It is fairly small for a club though, so if you are looking for a huge throng of people, look elsewhere. Getting drinks at the bar was generally pretty quick. Most people were dressed fairly casual(shorts, t-shirts, and sneakers were fine) which was nice, especially on a hot day. I would highly recommend L’etage if you a looking for a good time without breaking the bank and where things are fairly low key.

Every since Lucy’s closer(rip) I’ve been longing for a place that plays great music for dancing but isn’t a club. I found it at L’etage. What a fun night. We arrived around midnight and it was the ideal time. Never got crowded but enough people to find dance partners. A great mix of the best current songs and those you forgot you loved so much. This is a great place if you’re looking for somewhere to go dancing with a purpose(birthday, date, girls night).

Cougar hunting permit: $ 5(aka cover) Not worth writing much. A cover charge at a queen village bar is kinda lame. So is the $ 8 beer. Maybe the cover and high prices are why this place is empty. Live in the neighborhood and wanted to support local biz. But they should attract customers not turn them away at the door with covers. But my fiancé says the DJ is pretty good for dancing. So jury is out.

I will start off by saying that L’etage definitely has one of the coolest atmosphere’s in the city. It has a great layout and the décor is awesome. The DJ on Saturday nights is great too. There’s a $ 5 cover, which I typically don’t mind paying if the music and scene is up to par. When I first arrived there, I thought I had found my new favorite bar. Sadly, all of that changed very quickly. L’etage has somehow managed to employ the rudest and most unprofessional service staff I have ever encountered. This includes the bartenders, bouncers, and most especially, the lounge/cocktail server. I have been there twice and have had the same lounge server, who starts off OK, but progressively gets ruder throughout the night. Worst of all, she likes to hand-write herself a 20% tip on the bottom of your tab, despite the size of your party. Try questioning her about this? Good luck. This has happened both times I have been there, even with just a party of 4. The last time I went, she took our cards and disappeared. It wasn’t until the rude meathead of a bouncer tried kicking us out, that we learned she had left without bothering to bring our checks back. She just decided to leave it at the bar. So much for table service! What makes this disappointing enough for me to even bother writing this review, is that L’etage has some great potential. However, it is clear from other reviews that they simply don’t give a damn about customer service. Having worked in the hospitality industry for many years, I know that there are plenty of servers and bartenders out there who take pride in their work and can create wonderful experiences for their guests. I hope that one day the managers and owners of L’etage can get there hands on some of these good people. However, considering people have been posting negative reviews about their staff since 2012, it doesn’t seem likely. My ultimate advice? If you’re looking for somewhere with a cool vibe and good DJ, make the journey to Northern Liberties and go to the 700 Club instead. Give your money to people who actually deserve it. Oh, and there’s no cover.

L’etage is such a cool venue. I love that there is plenty of seating for people who don’t want to dance, and I love how big the dance floor is. The DJ on Friday was really great and the bartenders were on point. Drinks are a little pricier so I stuck with Yuengling. Also, bring cash if you don’t want to spend at least $ 20 – that’s the credit card minimum which is crazy. Free coat check is a HUGE bonus! Another bonus, only $ 5 cover. My friends and I had so much fun dancing until almost closing time! It was a little awkward when we arrived because the place was empty at 10. But an hour later, it began filling up quickly. I hope to check out a burlesque or drag show here sometime!

I’ve only been here for a show– and only had champagne. The ambiance is unreal. So lovely. I would love to spend more time here so I can get a better ideal of what they have to offer. From what I hear the food is delicious, so I will definitely be back.

Went to the Comedy Deconstruction show. The MC couldn’t have been nicer(we were nervous to sit in the front) and was quite funny himself. The guests around us were friendly. The 4 comedians were all really good, and each very unique. But the service — UGH! We did not get even an acknowledgement from the waitress until after the 4th comedian finished(and it wasn’t very crowded — in fact the entire front row was empty, as was the row behind us). When we finally got her attention, she said I wasn’t ignoring you, I just couldn’t get to you. Really? Next time we go we will be sure to get our own drinks at the bar and bring them to the table ourselves.

I was nervous to come here because I had never heard of it, and it’s outside my usual going out rotation. I’m totally glad I went with the flow and went! It’s a little off of 6th& South and our UberXL(new to Philly and carries 6 people!) from Center City West was only $ 10. $ 5 cover. I hate covers but. The music was on point! Totally dance music with a dance floor! Yesss! There was also some space at the bar to chat, and also a side room thing with seating. It’s a pretty small spot though. Bartenders were understaffed for the crowd, so service was reallly slow. Fun time, good crowd. Gonna return soon!

The bartenders were terrible. They ignore you as you wait 20 min for a drink. It also took forever to have my card returned to me, as the female bartender couldn’t hear my last name(it’s 4 letters, and I spelled it). She demanded, «Give me your license!» while grabbing it from my hand and returning my bill by slamming it on the counter. I understand it’s loud, but I don’t expect the bartender to be rude to me because of that… especially after I waited 20 minutes to get your service. I also never wanted to keep a tab open, but their credit card machine was being fixed when I tried to pay. I can’t state enough just how bad the bartenders were. Others around me were complaining as well. It was a strange place. We had a decent time dancing, and the music was good. I won’t likely return.

L’Etage is beautiful. I’m sorry we didn’t check out the creperie below. It’s tightly arranged but it wasn’t so crowded that we felt claustrophobic. The stage space isn’t really a stage but it’s a fair amount of strutting and fretting area for performers. I really enjoyed the act we came and saw, as well as the other performers, so I’m probably rating their selection of entertainment rather than the space. I’ll come back for that. Cover was a little steep, considering the evening. It was right around an hour and a half/two at most including bows and time between acts. Coat check was free if you chose to use it. Maybe it balances. I will say: not even kind of impressed by the service. If you’re working for tips, I really, really don’t want you to act like you couldn’t care less. I would have drank more if I could have gotten the attention of someone who could sling me a cocktail more than once. It took them awhile to acknowledge me(standing with a grand total of one other person around the bar) so I could pay, too. You do want the tip, right?

I like to base my reviews off of positives and then negatives, but when I can’t seem to remember many positives about a place that says something. Yes its pretty, the music is alright, and it wasn’t too overwhelmingly crowded… that’s about where it ends. The bartenders at L’etage have very obviously have perfected the look down, keep moving, ignore everyone thing. There were not outrageous lines, it was not packed to the brim, but on Friday night my friends and I couldn’t get a drink to save our lives(not to mention our buzzes). I hate to critique service as I was a server for years but is one thing to be overwhelmed and another to be straight up rude.

I visited L’Etage on a Sunday night for a small live show, featuring a group of young women singing love songs. We paid a $ 7 cover to get in, which was actually less than the advertised price of $ 10 for the show, so I was very happy to save $ 6. The atmosphere was very low-key, even though the décor screams«too expensive for you to be here!» and the waitress was very attentive. We sat on the pouf seats, which got really uncomfortable after a while because they didn’t have backs, but maybe I need to grow a spine. Cocktails and food are the same menu and price as Le Beau Monde, which makes sense since it’s the same owners. I had the Pick Me Up, which was basically boozy espresso in a martini glass; I thought $ 10 was reasonable for a cocktail at a club, so no complaints there. I’m pretty sure my mother and I were the only people in the audience who wasn’t a friend or a family member of the performers, but the place still had a good turnout. The performers were great and lively– there was even a sing along of an anti-love song called, «That Guy’s an A**Hole.» So perfect. I definitely want to go back and try it out on a dancing night or for another one of the small shows.

I may sound like an old man, but I don’t get DJ’s obsession with«mash ups.» Just stop it. Play the song. Your version sounds worse than the original. I didn’t really like the DJ at L’etage, but I did have a great time. The dance floor was a good size for the bar, the stage as a bottle service area was interesting(even though no one got it, and I don’t see the point of bottle service). The place has a dark, interesting vibe to it. Bartenders were friendly, and I didn’t have to wait to order any drinks. It was pretty lame that they locked the bathrooms at last call. Everybody always needs to go before they go.

So THIS is what L’etage is all about… I’m not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from. Different day, different experience. But I had a blast coming here for my friends’ birthday bash over the weekend. Not sure about the drink prices. because we drank a shitton before we got there. It was pretty packed in there. But what I loved about it is, the homey-ness. It’s literally like if you bought a philly apartment, decided to make one of the floors into a bar. Because that’s what it is. You walk in, there’s a bar. and a little bit of a «dance floor». I think what I love most about ths place, was the people there. Everyone there was purely there for a good time. People that just love to dance and have a great time. DJ was playing some serious throwback jams(pretty sure I heard some Nelly from the 90s.) That freaking made my night. Then a remix of Bubblebutt? You gotta be shitting me. Great night. I will definitely be back for more good times :)

I got free tickets to their Comedy Deconstructed show thru FillASeatPhilly. When I go to small comedy clubs I usually don’t expect much but just enjoy the overall experience. I had the same expectation coming here. Boy, was I underestimating the awesomeness of this place! I had such a great time in this beautiful little upstairs place. The atmosphere was awesome, the crepes looked and smelled amazing(I didn’t have any), but most importantly, the host and comics were energetic… enthused…wonderful! Even the least experienced comics were pretty great. I laughed a lot and am in love with the whole deconstructed comedy idea. For those that aren’t familiar, it’s a «long form» improv show. A stand up comic performs his act and then an improv group uses what the comic talked about to riff off of during their part of the show. It was really awesome. I can’t wait to come back.
