This salon is the reason I made a Unilocal account. First, I had an appointment for 8:30, I was late the manager(I presume) called to let me know my stylist was«waiting» for me. I come in and proceeded to sit there until I had to ask the manager when someone was going to get started. Second, the braiding, the young woman who did my braids was complaining every two seconds about the movement of my head. , I have had many weaves and never one issue. She huffed and puffed the entire time, just making it a dry tense atmosphere. My «stylist» was standing eating a shrimp as I stood there for 5 minutes she had food all over the seat licked her hands and went right to my head. To be paying over 120 $ I expect nothing less than decent service and I didn’t even receive mediocre. It’s been a week and the braids are unraveling. If I had an option not to give stars at all I wouldn’t.I’m disgusted this salon is not worth the money at all, atmosphere, service ugh pitiful. Don’t wast your money.

My first visit at Mecca was September 6th2014. When I first walked in i noticed the size of the place & what a great idea that was because it definitely promotes business. However that is something that almost all of the employees lack, business & appropriate customer service. From personal experience I was introduced by the receptionist to my stylist, Tiana & after that i was told to wait. My appointment time was scheduled for 5pm & i was getting faux locks, however i had arrived at 3pm thinking that would benefit me & Tiana in the long run. Unfortunately I was mistaken. The time had rolled around to 5:30pm & i then asked the receptionist how many i had in front of me & there were two. 6:30 rolled around and by that time i was fed up and just left the salon. Tiana then texted me at 7:30pm asking did i leave. i responded by letting her know how disappointed i was at the lack of customer service that was given to me. I would definitely not recommend this place unless you are willing to sit in a salon for six hours.

Awful Experience My stylist did a really good job but the over all experience made me never want to go there again. I got into an argument with the owner. He had no control over his salon and was incredibly rude. When he over booked my stylist he never apologized. I had to switch stylists and pay both of them before my hair was done. It took sooooo long to start my hair, stop while she did another client, go get money, pay the ladies, when I saw trimming his beard in the middle of the salon I saw sooo pissed. After he told me to «stop being so emotional,» I decided never to go back there again.

I’ve gotten my hair done at Mecca Unisex Salon several times. My first visit the first thing I noticed walking in was how big it was, and for it to have been a large amount of people inside the shop, surprisingly I was in and out! No appointment, walk-in. I was satisfied with my new hair do, I’ve received many compliments on my curls. The employees were polite, service was good, and the shop has pretty much everything you need… games, food/beverages at the bar, nail salon, barber shop, hair salon. dance studio, and you can get your eyebrows done. All in all, I would recommend this salon to friends.

Taking a match to a fistful of dollars is dumb. But at least when you do that, that’s the end of wasting your money. Going to Mecca is a true waste of cash, but after the fact you have a terrible haircut reminding you of the mistake that was made. When I walked in the door, I asked the price for a haircut. The girl at the front flipped through a bunch of paperwork, and then told me she didn’t know. How do you not know?!? She then made a phone call and finally got back to me: $ 15 for a wash and cut for Temple students. The wash was good. As for the cut, well, simply put they don’t know how to cut a white person’s hair. My girlfriend laughed at me when she first saw me after my visit to Mecca. Also, when I went to pay the barber, he had no idea about a «student discount.» I told him to ask the girl at the front and left ASAP, hoping that I could down a fistful of vitamin E pills in order to get my hair to any state other than the current one. This whole place is just weird, and bad. Definitely avoid. Cash only.
