Would have been nice if they let folks know when they were open. Went there 6⁄13 before the concert only to find it was not open. When I tried to call the message asked if I wanted referrals to other businesses in the area. I’m not even sure if they’re permanently closed, but they sure appear to be.

After talking with one of the ushers at the Philies game we decided to give this place a try, especially since it was just down the street from our hotel. The place is a bit small, but the food was excellent. There only seemed to be the one waiter /bartender working but service was pretty quick, and his recommendations were spot on. We had both the Pasta Pescatore and the Veal Carol Ann and both were fantastic.

I met my dad here before the Flyers game. This is a fairly close walk to the Phillies game if you are going there. I like that they have there own free private parking lot. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated. The person who seated us took our drink orders and was friendly and attentive. We were brought some bread and it was good bread. It was just a plain sliced loaf nothing special and came with some things of butter. I would say that this kind of describes the place. It’s very simple and not overly done. I ordered the Veal Carol Ann which is as our waiter told me when I ordered it the house specialty. It’s a veal that is lightly breaded and wrapped in proscuitto and cheese. They have a house special sauce that they cover it in. I though that this was a delicious dish and especially liked the sauce. I ended up eating the left over bread by dipping it in the sauce on the plate. We were heading out to the game so we didn’t have anything else but dinner. If you’re in the area and don’t want the typical stadium food this is a nice place to check out.

I recently ate at Medora’s Mecca with coworkers for a team dinner. We ordered all of the appetizers, which were fantastic. The entire table raved about the mussels in both the red and white sauce. They are not to be missed. My Veal Piccante was very good, but after trying a coworker’s Eggplant Parmesan I wished I had gotten that instead. The eggplant was cooked perfectly and the sauce and cheese was so flavorful! The pasta was a little disappointing, as I had hoped for home made noodles. We split a couple orders of Tiramisu, which reminded me more of cheesecake than the traditional Tiramisu that I love… but it was still tasty. I would have loved to try the cannolis, but it was late in the evening and they had run out. The atmosphere was perfect. The cozy lighting and brick walls adorned with family portraits and paintings made me feel like we were eating in a family’s basement. Service was great and our server was cute too ;)

We stopped in for dinner before a Phils game and would recommend this little place as a good alternative to ballpark eats. We had the mussels and pasta in red sauce, as recommended by Kathy D. Great dinner. I was told that peole have been known to drink the sauce– it was tempting, but I stuck with the crispy semolina bread for dipping. Tips: parking is plentiful — across Packer Ave. behind the guard rail are reserved spots. Bottled beer only in the dining room. Try the bar first. Service was friendly and attentive. Obviously we weren’t from the neighborhood, but everybody working stopped by to chat. The crowd picked up a bit as we finished our meal. No wait if you come early(5:00 for a 7:00 game).

Just moved into this quiet sliver of South Philly on the same block of Medora’s. Thought I’d try the place and got take out tonight. The mussels were AMAZING! Great sauce and bread to dip it in. I order mussels frequently when I’m out, and the quality was superb – not even a bad one in the bunch. My fiancée got the meatball sandwich and said it was okay. I was in there briefly to pick up the food, and it looked like an older, casual place – décor and furniture looked kinda dated, for what it’s worth. IFYOUGO, GETTHEMUSSELS! You will not be disappointed!
