I’ve been here a few times the last 5 years having been turned onto Mick’s by someone who grew up in the neighborhood. This stop this week was time for a review. When you walk in here all eyes turn and they know you don’t live in the neighborhood but everyone is friendly. People talk to one another. It’s a little like Cheers in South Philly. The food specials are great. My favorite items are the mozzarella sticks, the french fries and the wings. Worth a stop in for a beer and a meal.

Just discovered this place as I am new to the neighborhood and I am so glad I did. The food specials are great and everything I’ve eaten so far has been on point. It takes them a while to get your food but its worth the wait. The French fries are legit boardwalk fries. Just tried the chicken cheesesteak slider because it was on special tonight and it was really good. The staff is friendly and they pour a great Guinness!

This is a neighborhood bar with some of the best food in South Philly. Great staff and always clean. Food specials change each night, and it is tough to not show up every night — the food is that good and that affordable. No craft beer selection, but they do have lager and Guinness

I heard they get the chicken wings fresh from Crinitis Prime Meats on 10th& Snyder ave so that made me happy because that meant they are home cooked not frozen wings Drank Miller Lite all night and actually ordered food for once. It was mozzarella sticks but they still were banging.

I crashed this spot with a large group of individuals after my departments lame Holiday party at the Waterfall room last Thursday night. The drinks were much better than the piss water Miller Lite we were drinking for the past few hours. The Guinness was ok, but I have had better at few other bars in the area like Irish times. I probably wouldn’t be in here if it wasnt for the party. Good locals only bar. The bartender did a good job on handling an unspected large group on his own.

So Mick Daniels is an Irish Bar and they want you to know it. But don’t worry, it’s not the kind of Irish bar that immediately sprang to your stereotyping mind. ;)This is the kind of bar that looks like the home of your Italian grandmom(who married your Irish grandda and is overcompensating). The walls are covered with kitschy Irish sayings and placards, and they keep the air/heat cranking all year as needed. The food is delicious(when the kitchen is open), and they frequently have authentic homemade Italian specialties(it might be 2 street, but it’s still south philly). The bartenders are nice, though I prefer it in the daytime. Them ain bartender is a retired fireman, so the crowd skews older and civil servant-ish, but everyone’s friendly and the music is always unobtrusive. At night, it seems to become more the kind of neighborhood bar where one or two large groups of young-ish people hang out who have hung out together every day since kindergarten, if not earlier, and still continue to do so. In other words, this is not the neighborhood bar of the grown-ups and parents– on weekend nights, this is the neighborhood bar of their kids and their friends.

It was a little dead for a Saturday night, but, still enjoyed myself. Drank Miller Lite all night and actually ordered food for once. It was mozzarella sticks but they still were bangin. As were my date’s fries that he shared with me. Our bartender/server was very polite as well. [edit]David you’re a douche that needs to stay out of the neighborhood. Ironic, yes, but still. That story sounds extra far-fetched.

Tucked away in a little corner of South Philly. Definitely a local spot that only seems to be a favorite for those who live in the vicinity. We arrived beyond the time we thought their kitchen would serve us, but they were gracious in feeding our post-haunted house munchies. We ordered a couple of fried things that hit the spot with a round of lagers.(The pizza fries were crazy good!) We totally appreciated the attentive service in reopening their kitchen. The waitress was was even caring enough to call us a cab when we were having trouble getting one. A place worth hitting up for a round of beers and fried delights if you are in the area!

Like the above poster, I live around the corner and sometimes just want a bite and a drink before turning in. I actually have mixed reviews… Weeknights are usually pretty friendly and the wings are A+. Selection is limited as it is just a corner bar but it gets the job done if you want a nice slightly gluttonous unwind. Weekend nights it switches to a makeshift club and the South Philly girls start prancing all dolled by the dozen in sequined shirts. The younger bartenders wouldn’t even acknowledge my friend and I even though we are also young(san sequins). Meh, I take it for what it is.
