Came here because i had 30 minutes to kill before a meeting. Sat at the bar for 20 minutes no one said a thing to me… a guy who i presume worked there kept going behind the bar to get things. He never aknowledged me. And to top it off of the 6 people at the bar the group of 3 was smoking… hard pass all around

It’s your average bar scene. Some tv’s scattered about on the walls. Bar seating and tables as well. They have an adequate selection of beers on tap and all of your standard cocktails. There is a stage in the rear for live music, but there was no one playing the evening I came here. The drinks are cheap and the space is reasonably clean. There was a mixed crowd of people here… Um… It’s your average dive bar. What can I say. It’s neither here nor there!

Oh boy. I don’t know what to tell you about this place. It really stinks in there, literally. My friend described the stench as «stale piss» and«dirty fryer grease». He’s been here years before and said«nothing’s changed.» Not kidding. I didn’t try any of their food or drinks for fear of food poisoning from previous reviews. As far as it being a «music venue», it’s going to need major sound reinforcement of some kind, to improve the acoustics. The whole sound generated from the main stage is full of uncontrollable«natural» reverb, which makes bringing an effects rack or pedal pointless for musicians and an unpleasant listening experience for the audience. They also need to cover up the windows with curtains or something, so people from the outside won’t see who’s playing at an empty venue/restaurant. The only positive aspect is the sound guy, he was able to do his best with what he had on-hand.

The Millcreek tavern is a dive bar and music venue which draws a mixed crowd and offers cheap drinks. This was my go to bar for 5 years. My experience there has always been fun, but is typcally dictated by the crowd. As far as the bar itself, its just okay. The upstairs is great to rent out and is a great deal. The ambiance of this is typical philly dive bar. It features a jukebox, and smells like cigars. There are 2 sides, the«New» side and the«old» side.(both are pretty old). The bartenders are good, and if you tip well, your tab will be very cheap. As far as the food, the onion soup is KILLER, as are the quesadillas. Don’t forget Yeungs and Wings. All you can eat wings and all you can drink yeungs. Budget a few extra bucks to tip the waitress to ensure a steady flow of wings.

I just moved to West Philly and it’s Friday and I’m bored! This place has some great reviews, great mixed crowd, and the home brew Millcreek lager is pretty tasty. Think I might have found a place to hang on a Friday night.

I was here supporting a friend for their event. We arrived early to set up so I needed somethinf to eat. I ordered the chicken tenders. They tasted slightly strange(texture was a little TOO moist). Anyway I ate them quickly and then realized the last one Big bite I chewed and swallowed was completely raw. I showed it to the bartender and he showed it to the owner sitting near me. I walked away and Made myself throw up in the worst bathroom in Philadelphia. The cook came out and was very apologetic and offered me a free beer. After composing myself I went back to the bar to claim my free beer where I was greeted with a check that was half of what the chicken tenders cost. I refused to pay the $ 3.50. The owner said I ate half. I said I didn’t care and would he like to pay an entire hospital bill if I get salmonella. He started verbally abusing me and told me to «get the f@$k out». I said I was there to help for a friends event that he was hosting and to forget the free beer and call it even. He said«fine». The end. Stay far away from this horrible place.

My friend said you can’t write a review using your phone, so I’m proving her wrong. I need it to be a certain length, so these are really just empty words. Their Monday happy hour from 8−10pm is great.

I live a block away and am only giving the Millcreek 2 stars because of Larry– he’s awesome! So, 2 things: 1-warm beer: whenever they pour it out from the tap it’s all foam, then you taste it? Cold-ish, def not how cold a beer should be. 2-I’m a Jameson drinker. More than 3 times I’ve ordered Jameson and it’s been off. The labels are the bottles are peeling off(sign of a refilled bottle) and it’s basically ‘old crow’ or some other cheap liquor. I asked for a Pour from a fresh bottle but of course they didn’t have one. So they’re losing money by serving warm beer with all the foam, but then ripping off customers with charging high prices for cheap booze? Oh and the food? I ate there once and got violently I’ll. haven’t since and that was almost 2 years ago. To top it all off, the owner smokes cigars INSIDE the bar. It’s disgusting. It’s a shame because it has so much potential but the owner has no clue what he’s doing– and if he does? He doesn’t give crap about his customers, just money…

I came here for a party. My friend rented out the upstairs and it was a good space. There were pool tables, a bar, room for food and a good dance floor. It got a little hot and I wouldn’t say the ambience was all that great-typical bar atmosphere. But we had a lot of fun and the drinks were pretty cheap. Overall I think it’s a good place to have some drinks and chill out.

I came here on a recent visit to Philly. I always try to find the hidden spots where only locals go. I found it. Just like the bars I love to go to at home, this one has the most eclectic group of people. Drinks were a great price, food was alright(though only ate something so I could stumble to the next bar. Would have stayed longer but our awesome bartender KiKi had to go :( I’ll be back to this one next trip up.

I’ve been here twice — once a couple years ago to see a friend’s band perform and once two months ago for midday drinks. This is the closest bar to my college’s campus, University of the Sciences. Two block walk and not very sketchy. You walk in and immediately in front of you is a huge round bar dominating most of the space. Farther back there are tables and chairs. They offer typical bar food, but I’ve never eaten anything here, only drank. They serve as early as 9am, even on weekdays! I’ve had shots here and mixed drinks. A little pricey, though not unreasonable. I’m twenty-one and usually get carded everywhere being so young, but I wasn’t carded here. The bartender we had was an older and large man that was friendly and attentive, though it was pretty dead since we were there midday between classes. Overall, good place to grab a quick drink if you’re in the area and in need!

Millcreek, aka the Track and Turf, is a west philly staple for its surrounding community and receives 4 stars for being its own beast. This is no trendy CC or ucity bar. But, you’ll find everything from undergrad greek life parties to creatures from who knows where drooling on themselves. The bartenders are hilarious, drinks are really cheap, food is typical bar food, and you have to try their ‘millcreek lager’ or whatever it is. If you’re in the area, you have to at least go in for one drink and experience it in all its glory and special charm.

I will be returning to Philly for a week after an 8 year long hiatus. During my days at USP, The Track was a landmark. It was across the street. It was the dive bar to hang out at locally if you didn’t feel like walking more than a block. It was the closest place to go in and walk out with a 6 pack if you felt like drinking at home. And, it was traditional starting point of the 5th year pharmacy bar crawl right after final exams were done. Towards my last year there, Millcreek was built and opened. and it was certainly a nicer and cleaner place. I can’ t say I fully appreciated how special the Track’s dive bar atmosphere was then but I think I will this time. It’s all about the wing zings and lagers.

There’s really no point in having a drink special if a) you’re going to serve it in plastic cups the size of my thumb b) the bartender isn’t actually going to put any alcohol in the drink c) the bartender is also going to be rude, abrasive and painfully slow in serving the baby medicine-sized drink I was only there to support a friend in a band. I won’t be returning.

Mill Creek Tavern is one of those hidden gems in West Philly, as you can both experience an undergrad scene but also have the ability to escape from it by going to their side bar. Our softball team has been partying it up here after our games(MCT has sponsored us for about a year now) on Monday nights. They have a great wings+beer special from 8−10pm($ 13), although I am there for the Karoake Night as I am a sucker for karoake. If you see a blonde guy dancing around and singing«Billie Jean”-thats me. Their is also an upstairs that features another bar and pool area, which we usually migrate to if we want to escape the downstairs area. Jack, the bar owner, has graciously allowed us to take over the pool area. He is also a pretty cool bar owner, as he has never blinked about sponsoring our team and is pretty always around to chat. Great place for cheap beer, wings, and karoake on a Monday night

After spending a good portion of this summer at Mill Creek Tavern, I feel I am a pretty good authority on the place. Mill Creek Tavern is part college bar, part dive bar, part neighborhood bar, and all without any aspirations of being classy or trendy. It is what it is, blunt and striaghtforward. The place is actually pretty big. There’re actually two bars downstairs, and upstairs you’ll find another. There’s a pool table upstairs as well. Downstairs there’s darts, a jukebox, and a small stage for live music, open mic nights, and of course karaōke which is held on Monday nights and actually quite good here. On Monday nights, they have an infamous all you can eat beer and wings special from eight to ten. Twelve bucks gets you all the wings you can eat and all the beer you can drink. It can get pretty crowded, and the service can be slow, but you’ll get your fill with a little patience. This special tends to coincide nicely with Monday Night football during the fall. Speaking of, they’ve got the usual allotment of flat screens all over the bar. It’s not a sports bar, but you won’t miss the game if you’re here. Mill Creek’s beer selection won’t impress anybody, but there’s something to be had for everybody. They have some decent beers such as #9 and Guinness along side your standard Yuengling, and an onslaught of cheap domestic macrobrews. I sometimes like to get the ‘Millcreek Lager’… it’s decent and cheap, and a little different. The food here is standard bar food; burgers, appetizers, etc. It’s nothing special, but when you’re hungry it’s really good(albeit usually quite unhealthy). I really like the jalapeño fries here. Jack, the owner of the bar, is a really friendly guy. He’s always around and willing to chat. In fact, early this summer after a night of drinking he agreed to sponsor our softball team and buy us uniform shirts. The bartenders who work here are generally pretty cool as well, though sometimes they get really busy. My only real complaint with the place is that it’s a smoker’s bar. They allow smoking here, and many patrons and staff choose to indulge. This is just a small drawback in an otherwise fun place though. Millcreek Tavern is overall a fun bar that won’t kill your budget, and what it lacks in class it makes up for in character.

It kind of sucks to drop this one back down, but it needs to be done. On the one hand it stil brings in some great local shows, like they did with Mose Giganticus and The Emotron last night( ). But it just doesn’t do enough of it! It has the workers who are dedicated to helping the scene grow and contributing the best they can for it, like Kermit Hell Lyman of Slumlord and MC Digga. But the spot itself can be god awful for shows sometimes. The sound definitely isn’t the best. It’s huge and cavernous to the point that even when the bands bring a good crowd in it feels kind of empty. And there are moments were the service can be pretty discouraging. But there are those events that make going here a worthy labor of love. Also update your website listings! Since August just started do I really need to know what happened three months ago?

For some reason, my Drexel and USP roommates call this place«The Track.» Never really figured out why, but hey, when in Rome right? I’ve come here on occasion for a quick beer fix with friends. It’s got two bars, one right on the corner that’s huge, and another in the next room that’s more intimate. Typical prices, typical beer selection. One of my roommates swears by their hot wings, but I’ve had better(aka Mad Mex wings –w00t). The bartenders seem like seasoned pros, used to handling the college kids. Every Monday they have all you can drink Yuengling and all you can eat hot wings for $ 10. The beer flows pretty freely then, but the wings come out like every hour. I’ve never found this«all you can eat/drink» special a good deal. They also have a karaōke night, where all the tone-deaf boys of this town(myself included) come out to sing badly. This place wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t openly flaunt the Philly indoors smoking ban. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m down with the cig every once in a while, but I like to be able to choose when I want to be exposed to that stuff. Whenever I come to this college town bar, I’m prepared with the Febreze for the morning after.
