Fans of the über popular Vietnamese sugar cane drink«Nuoc Mia» can get their fix here at My Tien, nestled in the corner of one of Philly’s most Vietnamese concentrated strip malls. This drink is the perfect fix during a hot summer day, especially when there are thirsty throats at stake. My Tien is admittedly a Chinese and Vietnamese restaurant, but the interior of the place is more reminiscent of a café than anything else. There are only about 3 small tables and no bustling wait staff, just a super nice guy behind the counter who seems to be busy making drinks than he is making food. And speaking of the food, I haven’t had anything off their(tiny) menu but I will most certainly consider it my next visit here. For now, it’s all about the drinks. Speaking of drinks, Nuoc Mia is what they do best here. It’s made fresh each time and it’s fun watching the owner put live stocks of sugar cane into a machine and grinding it down to a fine pulp. Throw in some other fruit for some extra tart, a bubble tea seal, and it’s ready for consumption. This tasty, balanced concoction of sweet, light, and cool can be yours for $ 2.00 Need a bite? There are all sorts of little snacks and treats here, all of which are a nice complement to their drinks. The bathroom was clean as well and the place is a nice casual spot to hang out. All that is missing now, is a some nice loungey Viet music and some wifi.
