Stopped in here on a whim after passing it plenty of times. Glad I did! I opted for takeout and got some kimchi bokkeumbap. really good & large portions. Would definitely go back.

Been here more than three times. There was certain periods that the food was great but not any more. The foods they cook is not constant. I am sure the chefs are changing frequently and have some problems there. Last week I was trying to dine in here and it was closed on Friday and few more days. Finally I was able to get in there on Wednesday and it was horrible experience. The donkatsu was overcooked and burned. All I was able to taste was rocky coat of flour and stubborn meat inside. Kimbap was not rolled properly as well. The inside stuffs were escaping from seeweed and the one who made applied too much sesame oil on it. The last dish I had on that day was jjolmyun. The sause was good but the other part. I smelled that the vegetables in dish wasn’t cleaned enough and throughly. Yuk… And there was no server so I guess the owner was serving. Called him to ask few more things like water and stuff and he replied ‘why?’ ‘what?’ in Korean, not in polite way. Ridiculous! Avoid this place if you want quality food and service. There was short golden period that the food was great but not anymore. They need to find another chef and polite server.

This is my new favorite korean restaurant! It’s affordable and delicious! Huge portions for their cheese rabboki and donkatsu. I always order those when I’m with a group of people. You can easily share those 2 dishes with 3 – 4 people. I love the cheese rabboki! everything about it is perfect. I’m a huge fan of cheese and they covered that ramen and ddukboki with cheese real well ;) And the donkatsu is SO crispy and thin. It’s just the right about of thickness and it’s huge! It spreads out really thin and has the best sauce drizzled on top. Their kimbap is pretty good too. They have more options here than you would at hmart. As a poor grad student, I love this place. It’s still very new so not many customers have found this gem and the people who work there are very sweet. One day, the chef who makes kimbaps were late and that’s one of the dishes we ordered. She was very sweet and said that since she was late, the kimbap was on her. We didn’t mind at all because we already had other dishes out while waiting for it ! It wasn’t a problem at all, but it just shows they’re very friendly people.

We ordered some gimbap to augment our wings from Café Soho & Jam Bong from Noodle House across Cheltenham Ave. It was good, but not great. The kimchi one fared much better than the spicy tuna(which was not spicy, and couldn’t taste the tuna). Missed wasabi, which wasn’t provided. The rolls were very fresh, and packed w. veggies, tofu, etc. Banchan(radish and cabbage kimchis) were really nice! Nice atmosphere, although virtually empty @ 8:00 on a Fri. night. Hostess and owner? were friendly. I would like to return and maybe try some warm«comfort food»

Great little Korean café in North Philly. They had a variety of Gim bap ranging form beef to curry chicken, veggie, tuna etc. They also had a few ramen dishes and a KILLER version of donkatsu. I had the beef Gim Bap and Naeng Myun, which were both awesome. The Naeng Myun had a great sauce to it with tons of veggies. The gim bap was exactly how I grew up eating it, having several Korean friends. One of my buddies had the Donkatsu, and it was HUGE and cooked to perfection. All in all, a great little spot to get some different Korean food.

This place was very pleasant and the owner came over to personally greet us, and glue gave us his recommendations when we asked. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced for pretty large portions. My only complaint would have to be that my bubble tea was not really what I expected, it tasted more like chocolate milk with Boba than milk tea, but maybe it was just a different style. My boyfriend and I had Udon, Dumpling Ramen, Bulgogi dupbap and Kimchi kimbap. They also brought us each a small bowl of a fish broth to start which was nice. Overall the experience was great and just what we wanted when we wanted to try something new.

It’s a standard Boon-shik place(Korean cheap/street food), with solid gimbap! My friend and I were very hungry so we ended up ordering 3 rolls of gimbap(tuna, tonkat-su, regular) and Cheese-Rabokki. The gimbaps were pretty good, but I wasn’t particularly a big fan of the tonkat-su gimbap. I guess it is pretty creative. I’ve never been to a gimbap place that had tonkat-su gimbap, but it wasn’t my favorite. But the Cheese-Rabokki was really yummy! And the portions were huge(both the Rabokki & gimbap). The food is very cheap in the first place, so you will definitely get your money’s worth! I will definitely come back to try more of their items of the menu!

This place is great — would come here again for a casual dinner. Staff are friendly, food is comforting and delicious, and the price is decent. Would recommend the rabokki. Will be coming back!

The interior of this place looks like a neon cafeteria so I half expected a self serve type of ordeal like the hmart food court until a waitress came to take our order. The menu doesn’t seem to be concrete yet since the items on the tv screen are unavailable and the word doc printout seems to be unrefined. The food itself is great and I do recommend the food but the service was a bit lacking due to the arrival times of the dishes. We were a group of 7 and every set of dishes came out 5 – 10 minutes after each other. For instance, the bibimbap naengmyun came out then 7 minutes later, the don Katsu dishes are served and so on with the other dishes. Unfortunately, my dish came out last and it didn’t come out until the middle of our meal which is sort of ruins the whole flow of our meal. I honestly thought they forgot my meal but it just seems like the kitchen is slow.

Very nice staff and newly opened restaurant so not very many people but a lot of flowers with greetings from the grand opening I’ll assume. We got the kimbap and it was decent. Also ordered the ddunbboki or however it is spelled, which is the rice cakes in spicy sauce. The rice cakes were okay but not enough chewy and bouncy texture as I am used to. They also give you soup that I think had some kelp or seaweed flavor and it was pretty good. Also, pickled daikon and kimchee was given along with the soup. Overall a great experience and I would come back to try other items on the menu.

Came early for dinner on a Sunday night. Comfortable space to relax and hangout — we were greeted by the owner and several of the staff. They actually accommodated a huge party for us(I think 25+), and did it rather gracefully. Food was hot, the dishes came out at a good tempo, portion size was great for the money, and it was just an overall good experience. I liked their miso-style soup(can’t remember what it was called) and rabokki a lot. The gimbap was good, but I’m not a fan of gimbap in general, so I can’t really comment on the quality. I’ll be back!

We had a pretty big group of people(like 25 – 30) here on Sunday night and ordered several portions each of the kimbap, rabboki, fried dumplings and tonkatsu to share. Everything was super delicious! The service was really friendly and accommodating, and they definitely took good care of all of us. We barely had to wait between dishes because they were so on top of everything. Plus they were really patient when we still weren’t completely sure on the exact number of people coming and how much of each dish we’d need to order. I didn’t think I’d be full but I was stuffed! Prices are really reasonable. If this was closer to the city(and if I wasn’t moving to a different country in two weeks), I know I’d be here pretty often!

First time to Myung Ga and we were very happy with the result. Relaxed atmosphere, quick and friendly service, and the food is absolutely delicious. Our favorites were the jjol myun and rabokki, and the donkatsu was addicting. Highly recommended and we will be back soon

We were satisfied customers the first time we tried out this new gimbap place since we only tried gimbap and ddukbokki! The gimbap is really delicious! Unfortunately we tried their don kas today and it was terrible… The flour was five times thicker than the meat itself and it had no crisp whatsoever… We had such a hard time finishing the huge dish.

Decided to try out the recently opened Myungga today and left a happy man. The Cheltenham/Elkins Park area has needed a place that sells Korean comfort food for a long time, and Myungga did not disappoint. I definitely had to try their signature gimbap(korea’s version of sushi) which was better than anything else the area has to offer. The rabboki(spicy rice cakes with ramen noodles) was perfectly spiced and packed with flavor. If you want to try something different, I would definitely give the jjolmyun a try too. Great service, good people, awesome food. I’ll be back.

I picked up an order of the Combination Kimbap to go during their soft opening and it was fantastic! The texture of the rice was just right and the flavor of the kimbap was much better than the other offerings I’ve had locally. The staff was very friendly and courteous. I will definitely be back to sample their other offerings!

Stopped by for lunch with a few friends on Friday — had the donkatsu(crispy fried pork cutlet), rabokki(rice cakes in hot sauce — sounds questionable but actually delicious), and kimbap(a «diverse party of flavors in your mouth»). We crushed everything — and then ordered another pork cutlet and kimbap, not because we were hungry but because we’re fat. Definitely worth checking out!

Myungga Gimbap is a new Cheltenham restaurant focusing on Korean comfort food. Being away from my moms cooking for years now I stopped by with some friends and ordered a bunch of things off of the menu. I can definitely get down with the kimbap and rabokki(which I somewhat shamefully admit is better than my moms — don’t tell her or I’m a dead man) and the jjolmyun, which I’ve never had before, was really refreshing. The amount of heat and sweetness in the rabokki was dead on and a perfect complement to kimbap. After talking to the waitress this is their first week and their full menu isn’t available yet, but they anticipate having a full menu very soon, maybe even next week. I’m excited to come back and give some more dishes a try! We all left full and the prices are reasonable considering how much freaking food you get.
