National Watch and Diamond Exchange

Horrible place to do business. I went in looking for a vintage omega, what I got was attitude and condescending remarks. I would never do business with them. A place of business is suppose to treat their customers with respect not belittle them.

This is definitely one of those times I wish I’d read Unilocal reviews before patronizing a business.
I took my Skagen watch here for a simple battery replacement and waited behind two other potential customers. When it was my tun, an older gentleman took my watch into a small back room, which I could see, and went to work.
He came back out a few minutes later and told me he wanted to wait and see if the battery replacement was successful, which it wasn’t. The minute hand didn’t move. He went back into the back room and brought out a sharp wooden handled knife, which he used to pry the watch back off. He put another battery in, half-​closed the back, flipped the watch over, then told me it wasn’t working and that I’d need an «overhaul,» whatever that means. He quoted $ 60.
I made a comment about how $ 60 seemed like a lot for a watch like mine, given it’s not worth a whole lot. He returned to the back room, put my old battery back in and went to hand the watch back to me. Turns out the watch’s face was COMPLETELY SHATTERED in the process. No apology, no offer to replace it, he just handed it back to me and agreed the watch probably wasn’t worth an overhaul.
I’m floored that he didn’t seem to care that he’d completely destroyed the face of my watch. So now, if I want to get the watch fixed, I’ll be paying for an «overhaul» AND a new crystal face.
Absolute disaster. Go elsewhere.

They have some interesting and nice selection of engagement rings and settings (tacori, simon g, etc) that no other store has in Philadelphia. I loved the simon g collections — elegant and unique! I did my initial shopping here for the ring, but ended up getting it at a different store.
In the back of the store, they have a bunch of private jewelers who sell jewelry as well, but mostly do repairs, etc. If you have a need for jewelry appraisal, go to Mike (looking at the counter, the 3^rd bench from the left) — he is super friendly and makes sure that you can get your jewelry fixed, watch batter changed, get a custom piece, etc. I visited him 2 weeks ago to get my ring appraised and one of the diamonds replaced (one of the micropave ones had fallen out) and he repaired it beautifully at a fair price and now you can’t even tell that anything was ever amiss.

National Watch and Diamond is TERRIBLE. This place is the absolute worst of the worst and you should NOT GO HERE unless you want lousy, slow, and unprofessional service by a bunch of over-​the-​hill drug addicts.
I brought a relatively rare watch to have the strap changed. Their «expert watchmaker» was foul-​mouthed, rude and unprofessional, made me wait forty minutes for a five minute endeavor, and badly scratched the case and lugs of my watch to boot. Not only did he put the watch strap on upside down the first round, but he even banged the watch case against the counter to remove one of the pins because his hands were too shaky to do it manually! I couldn’t believe my eyes!
In my forty minutes there, I would say that about the only thing these jerks know how to do well is run into the back room to take bumps of coke every five minutes and come back not-​so-​discretely rubbing their noses.

My Breitling Professional Aerospace Titanium needed a new battery which I didn’t think would be a major problem. Well, I was wrong. Even though this place sells Rolex’s I wouldn’t trust them with my Timex. I should have run away when the middle aged man behind the counter didn’t know what a Brietling was. After handing him my watch he proceeded to the back room (within view). He returned with my watch approximately ten minutes later. He handed me the watch and said it was broken. He said the LED display was malfunctioning since he changed the battery. I confirmed the display was malfunctioning and he charged me for the new battery. I subsequently sent the watch to Brietling where they informed me that the display was damaged from behind when the battery was replaced. The end result was a $ 500 battery change.
STAY AWAY!!!
