National Watch Repairing

This store is a diamond in the ruff on jewelers row and REASONABLE. I Brought in 10 watches that needed needing different kinds of repairs from pins, bands, batteries, and they fixed them all for 80.00 cleaned them as well. Two watches I was told needed new crystals he cleaned at no extra charge all watches looked brand new when they were done… EXCELLENT PLACE

When I first moved to Philly and my watch battery died, I needed a place to get a replacement battery without paying an arm and a leg like you’d do at a mall kiosk. I never would have found it without Unilocal but now I’ve been coming for the last few years. Watch battery replacement? 5 bucks. That’s it. My watch link was loose and the watch kept slipping off my wrist. Not good when you’re in a time-​obsessed occupation. Also just 5 bucks to fix. The older Asian gentleman who does the work tightened the link so much that it’s even tighter than it was originally, and I no longer have to worry about my watch slipping off. It took probably 5 mins or less for him to fix me up.
Just like you can’t necessarily judge a book for its cover, you can’t judge this place by its spartan nature. I’ll be back again for watch fix-​ups.

Was I in the same place?
I took an older watch to be repaired on 9÷1÷15. It apparently was hard to fix because; 1) the Pope was coming to town at the end of September; and 2) Movado sent the wrong parts and they had to be reordered. Still, they never bothered to call me when the watch was done («they’re too busy»), delaying delivery by 6 days. When I gently complained about that lack of courtesy, they’ve were defensive to the point of rudeness.
I finally got the watch back today, almost 2 months later. I won’t ever go back. Life is too short.

Brought in a watch to have links removed and had a wonderful experience! I was nervous because I had attempted to take the links out myself, but couldn’t get the job done and was concerned I had caused damage. 5 minutes and $ 5 later, I had a correctly sized watch and he even salvaged the spare links should I ever want to put them back in. I will be bringing back several other watch repairs that I have been putting off for so long– can’t beat the price or timely service!

Fantastic neighborhood watch repair! Just took in two watches– one to have links taken out and the other to get a battery replaced– and everything took less than 10 minutes while I waited. The service was friendly and prices completely reasonable. It’s on the second floor of the 740 Sansom building but very easy to find. Highly recommended!

I came across National Watch on Unilocal and had to give it a try. So happy I did – fixed my watch in minutes and very helpful with upkeep tips. VERY REASONABLE RATES! After some research, best out there. Will be going back… with cash of course.

This is a great place to have all watch repairs done. The man working there is extremely nice and friendly. I brought in a watch that needed a new battery and another watch with a broken clasp. He fixed both for me right away in under 20 minutes and charged me $ 15 for both services. Normally, watch battery repairs alone cost that much.
The establishment is cash only, but there is an ATM less than a block away. I will be using him for all of my watch needs in the future!

Wow! I came in on a day I they are normally closed but I saw a light on a decided to knock. A man came and let me in and then proceeded to fix a broken clasp on my watch in about 2 minutes and then didn’t even want to charge me cause I guess it was a really simple fix! I insisted on giving him $ 10 but can’t believe how nice the guy is!

They repaired my 46 year old Movado, replacing the auto wind mechanism. The cost was reasonable. They replaced a watchband for a fancy swiss women’s watch for much less than the authorized dealer. They replaced the crystal for an old LL Bean watch which LL would no longer fix. They order new links for an ancient Citizen watch and fixe the band. Repairs were done for a reasonable cost and quickly. I would not go anywhere else! Worth a train ride from the burbs!

I took my J12 for him to remove several links, which he did in 5 minutes with extreme care and using a jeweler’s loupe. The second time I went to him the next week when my same watch stopped running, and he patiently explained to me the mechanics of my automatic. Extremely reasonable fees.
On Saturdays, you will have to be buzzed into the building.

Had work done to a vintage watch. Good solid work and very reasonable pricing.

Not sure what to expect when I walked into the building. It’s located on the 2^nd floor, above the jewelry stores. I was greeted by an elder asian man (not sure if chinese or korean). I passed him my watch and said it was rattling. It’s an Ocean 7 LM-​2. He opened it and said, «oh… automatic». Went to the back of the shop and 5 mins later came out and said, «fixed».
He then explained to me the problem in detail (screws had came out and the barrel came out of place) and also gave me a heads up on maintenance and potential problems down the road. In all, a great experience. Not only did I have my problem fixed but I also felt more educated. He charged me $ 10. Sweet deal.
Btw, there’s a sign saying they don’t accept personal checks and credit cards.

Some places tried to charge me double digits to replace the battery for my watch. This place charged me $ 5.00. I definitely recommend it.

I took my Tissot to have its straps replaced here. I don’t ordinarily write reviews about things like this, but I was so pleased with my whole experience that I thought these fellows deserved my gratitude in writing. Their shop seems not to have changed from the 1960s/​1970s or whenever it was built. The whole place, tiny though it is, transports one to another era. Old articles commemorating the art and science of watches are hung on the walls. I remember one in particular that described the watch as ordinary to most people but akin to a living being to a watch repair enthusiast. It seems that the watch technicians here take their work very seriously, with a sober diligence that could be described as a sort of grace. Also, my watch was repaired in a matter of minutes, and the price was very reasonable. Highly recommended.
