This is the best indian food restaurant. Food is tasty and service is good. I haven’t tried the buffet but la carte is excellent. I tried the other restaurants in the area but restaurant in Philly means to my family ‘New Delhi Restaurant’. I am north Indian and like spicy food, the preparation is best upto my taste.

Great food. I ordered the chicken makhani. I’m Indian and gave instructions to make it taste like home. They didn’t disappoint. Very authentic. Naan was fluffy and light too. Would eat here again.

I can’t even rave enough about this place. The food here is amazing. I tried Indian food here for the second time ever, and I haven’t stopped coming to this place. I’ve tried a few others but continue to return to New Delhi. I have always gotten takeout, and the portions are extremely generous, hot, and delicious every time. My favorites are the chicken or lamb korma, and the vegetarian platter with the fried paneer and samosas. I’ve also had the beef samosas and patada wadas and they are wonderful as well. My picky husband who swears he hates Indian food craves their lamb Korma which is a huge deal.

Food is ok. I had better(Sitar). New Delhi is more spacious and have more selection of food, but the food just tastes plain in my opinion. Improve the taste of the food and you will have a better score.

One of the worst delivery experiences ever !! Made the mistake of ordering food when I was ill and adding a 10% tip. First, the driver calls and yells at me, saying he’s giving me 3 minutes to come downstairs and get the food, otherwise he’s gone. When I call the restaurant, the owner says that it’s not his problem and this is how he does business in the city. I tell him I’m ill and I cannot go downstairs and he says this is how he always delivers food to my building(not true, everyone else delivers to the apartments). As for the food, it’s oily and greasy and possibly one of the least authentic Indian food options. Order from here only if you’re really desperate and have a very strong stomach.

We walked right by the buffet on our way to the table. Needless to say I didn’t even bother looking at the menu after seeing all the fresh food at the buffet. The place was busy, the food was constantly being refilled, and everything smelled delicious. My first place was all about the chaat bar. Thank you for having such a thing exist! I especially appreciated the green chilies and fresh green chutney. I think they probably could have gotten away with boiled potatoes, and yogurt separately but I can see how that might confuse novices. I did have a funny moment at the chaat bar when a customer asked me if there was rice crispies in one of the trays.(Yes, sort of! It’s puffed rice coated in spices, but the same concept, just not sweet!) My next plate, I loaded up on the samosa, biryani, chicken tikka masala(best dish by the way!) and the potato and pea dish with multiple servings of naan. I did not manage to finish my plate but I’m so glad I tried all of it. My boyfriend got 2nd helpings of the saag lamb dish and loved it. My only complaint was the lack of dessert options! After all those spicy carbs, I wanted something sweet. The only options were rice pudding and chocolate pudding. I’m sure they had something on the menu but it didn’t occur for me to check it out. Especially since we were running late for our movie so we were trying to be quick. I highly recommend this place, check this out!

Stumbled upon a gem here. My boyfriend and I were looking for a good buffet and we certainly found it. We were there for lunch and the selection and flavors were great considering they were only charging us $ 10 per person for all you can eat. The goat curry was delicious and different(I love goat but obviously it isn’t on every menu), samosas were good, and the chicken tandoori was memorably tasty. We will certainly be back to this place. Oh and the cherry on top of this buffet is that they provide Chia tea to end your meal with, and you are allowed to take it to go. I love finishing big meals with a hot beverage.

There’s nothing quite like walking into a restaurant and smelling all the food you’re about to put into your body. New Delhi is just about the best Indian buffet in Philadelphia. There is a ton of variety in their dishes, each of which has its own unique flavor. All of the meats were incredibly juicy, and every dish was packed with spice. My favorites were the goat curry and the chicken tikka masala. The servers were constantly replenishing the bar so everything was fresh. Don’t forget to grab some chai tea on your way back to your table as well. Because it’s a buffet, there’s no need to wait to eat; just walk in and dive in! Bring your student ID for 10% off!

Tasty buffet — big fan of the aloo chaat bar and the tandoori chicken rice, both of which sets New Delhi apart from other Indian buffets nearby in University City. Their chicken tikka masala is also delicious. Overall dinner buffet is small in size, but everything’s tasty. Lacking in desserts though. The only things they have that I’d consider desserts are rice pudding and chocolate pudding, both of which aren’t that ethnic. Also offers student discount!

This place is okay in my opinion. Being an indian myself I might have more pickier of taste but I would say this place is decent. They obviously have amazing paneer and samosa but their level of spice is debatable, sometimes I find it a bit mild. Even then I think this place is good enough to eat at regularly, which I do. I recommend this place especially during their buffet time its totally worth the money!

We ordered takeout from New Delhi on a Sunday night — a few others turned us down because it was 30 minutes before closing, but New Delhi took us with no issues. Things to get — + Saag paneer — really good consistency and lots of paneer. I’ve had it from other Indian places in university city, and it’s always off, and by off, I mean usually a little too liquid. This one is perfection + Paneer tikka masala — really good, but warning, also veryyy creamy and heavy. But if that’s what you’re going for, this is your dish + Onion Kulcha — one of my favorite takes on this naan to date. They don’t have big clumps of onions in it. The onions are a lot more subtle and the naan smells(tastes too, but smell it before you devour it) fantastic! +Green chutney on the side — a sweet and sour chutney that goes great with the food Warning: — If you order«spicy», which I always do when I order from Indian spots bc it’s usually pretty mild without it, BEWARE. New Delhi takes their spices extremely seriously, and the food we ordered, was incredibly hot. We will not be ordering spicy again. And you shouldn’t either unless you can handle a ton of spice! We will be back!

I came in here on 12÷13÷15 around 5:00pm. We drove by here in the past and have been wanting to try it out. We walked in and was greeted almost immediately and was seated. We opted to try the buffet out for $ 13.95 each I believe. The décor is average and the place has been around since 1988! That says a lot to me for sure. I don’t eat meat so they had a good amount of vegetable options at the buffet. The food tasted fresh and was hot. They also provided us with a pitcher of water which I thought was a great idea since the food can be a bit spicy. My wife enjoyed her food as well and she even said it’s great to see people here because it tells her the food must be good. They had about 10 different options of food and also a salad bar. The service was great. They didn’t bother us but was checking on the table and cleaned up the plates we weren’t using anymore. The interior was clean and they didn’t rush us out as we sat around for quite sometime trying to eat as much as possible. I signed up with their e mail club and received 15% off my check! We will be coming back here in the future.

I’ve given this 3 tries. Sitar down the street is definitely better. $ 13.99 for dinner here. Sitar has a better variety of chutneys, more meat in their curries, and more fragrant rice pudding. In addition, they also have mango juice. Try these two places out for yourself, but I really prefer Sitar over the two. If you have a larger party of people, New Delhi is the way to go, because its more spacious, but their quality of food and service is not as good.

Desis, beware: New Delhi’s food is not for us, especially not their buffet. Everything is bland and doesn’t taste ‘Indian’ in the least. If you are looking for something more authentic, well, Tandoor next door has a better-tasting buffet, and if you’re willing to compromise on the buffet, Dana Mandi on Chestnut street is as authentic as it gets! New Delhi has by far the best ambience among the Indian restaurants in this area though, and also has very good service. Now, if only their food were a little better…

Wonderful array of fresh buffet items. All the items were flavorful with just enough spice. My favorites are the Nan, stewed okra, and the creamy rice pudding. The wait staff were also quite hospitable and pleasant. Can’t wait to go back!

Buffet. What more can you say? :) Good food and good atmosphere. I’ve talked with some people, and they all say New Delhi is the best of all Indian buffets around here. Also, 10% off for students with college IDs.

This is a solid Indian buffet with fresh and delicious food. They have a salad bar and small dessert area but the main pull is the hot foods bar. Veggie pakora and naan are included in the buffet. Biryani rice(not that flavorful and not the best I’ve had) and basmati rice(average) serve as the bases for the delicious entrees. The selection on the day that I went included tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, paneer masala, dal makhni(very bland), chicken curry, lamb saag wala, and mixed vegetables(in mild thick sauce– my 2nd favorite). I sampled the vegetarian items and my coworker sampled the meat items(we make a great team!), and we enjoyed all of them. My favorite was the paneer masala– the sauce was on point. The staff was constantly putting out fresh food and stirring the hot foods to ensure fresh taste. My only complaint is that it costs $ 9.95 plus tax for the lunch buffet, which I do think is a little bit high. They do offer delivery as well as vegan and gluten free items.

Okay buffet although the food tasted very rich and heavy with cream. Lamb was super game. On the plus side the nan was good and everything on the buffet lone seemed pretty fresh. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food. Seems like a good place for starving college students.

When I use to live in University City with my housemates, New Delhi was our GrubHub go to restaurant for all our lazy, don’t-feel-like-cooking occasions. Personally for me, I love their spiciest Saag dishes(either chicken or paneer) with garlic naan. If you’re not too big on curry dishes, I would recommend my second favorite option — Chicken Tikka Biryani. Their chicken is very moist and delicate — similar to what you would expect from pulled chicken. Regardless of eating in or taking-out, their helpings are generous and the food is served at a perfectly warm temperature. Their buffet option is also very solid — multiple variants of curries with either meats or vegetables, samosas, plentiful naan, fruit for dessert, etc. If you’re financially constraint, but still looking to get a good, hearty meal, I would recommend the buffet. Service is average… however, they are very attentive at ensuring you always have water available. Sometimes they’ll even leave the pitcher at the table for your convenience. Ambiance wise, the place is dimly lit so be prepared to get a bit more intimate with your dining partner(s). If the restaurant becomes a full house, be prepared to bump elbows/shoulders with people. When taking into consideration food quality and prices, this is the best Indian restaurant I’ve been to in Philadelphia. They have always been consistent in their food delivery and have failed to disappoint any of my friends or I yet.

This review is not too long because this is simply a solid Indian food buffet. Have had both better and worse Indian Food. You won’t find anything that wows, but it’s good quantity and selection for the price. Meh samosa, meh tikka, meh naan. Zero ambiance. If you are craving a buffet, Minar Palace in Center City is higher quality for about the same price.
