Amazingly sweet guy with a real talent for hair. Go there and you’ll never be disappointed. He has magical hands and is always friendly. The salon is very cozy. He definitely will give you the best advice on what to do with your hair and should follow what he says: he knows what’s good for you. He will make you look super pretty.

Ozzie is a great hairdresser — attentive, friendly, and very customer-centered. He talked to me for about 10 minutes before he got started on my hair, asking me about what I wanted, which angle, how it should look, etc., and began cutting only after I confirmed what he was asking. He’s a fun person to talk to, who’s been in the neighborhood for a long time, all the while doing your hair like nobody’s business. I could see him evening out the most minute parts of my hair in the mirror, and took a solid hour for a trim, which I really appreciate, because it means he’s very focused on what he’s doing. I’ll definitely go back to him for my next haircut.

Ozzie is a genius when it comes to hair. I was reading the post below the one I am about to write — the blonde — and I laughed to myself because I have a similar situation that I could describe(except you can switch out the blonde for red). Not only does Oz know color, but Oz also knows style. It doesn’t surprise me that the blonde lady below me gets stopped in the street and asked who does her hair. I’ve had that happen to me so many times in the last week thanks to Ozzie’s talent. I was first recommended to Oz by word of mouth from another one of his faithful clients. I had been searching for someone to do my hair for my upcoming September wedding in Cape May. I’m planning this event from afar and have traveled back and forth from the Philadelphia area to Colorado several times. I had three different trial runs with stylists because I was going for a vintage look and really wanted finger waves. I had a trial run with Ozzie last and was instantly relieved and satisfied well beyond my expectations. I have since returned for the cut and color mentioned above and he did a perfect job. I will be moving from Colorado to Asheville, NC at the end of the month and plan to regularly visit Philadelphia to have Ozzie continue his work on my hair. Also, like the other post mentioned, Ozzie’s salon is an extremely comfortable environment and he is just as gifted in the art of conversation as he is with hair.

I have a similar sentiment to the reviewer above, only I’ll have to amend my reaction slightly: how is it possible that I am only the SECOND person to review Ozzie?! In fact, I opened a Unilocal account solely for the purpose of writing this review, that’s how strongly I feel about this salon! I moved to Philly four years ago and immediately embarked on the painful task of finding a hairstylist who could replicate the color I had fallen in love with from my previous hairstylist. Let me first say I am blonde, and(like most blondes), very particular. Not too yellow, not too dull, not too brassy… don’t make me Barbie… natural please. You know, we’re impossible. After several failed stylist relationships, I passed by Ozzie’s salon one day and rang the bell on a whim. I showed him my roots and explained my dissatisfaction and he assured me that he could capture what I was looking for. And he delivered. I mean, DELIVERED. From the moment I sat down I immediately felt comfortable. The salon is a one-man shop, so you have Ozzie’s undivided attention and you don’t have to listen to other chatter or the whir of hairdryers etc. around you. We discussed my color and Ozzie passed my number one test for hair stylists: don’t blame the past! I hate it when hair stylists give you the whole«well, I’ll try to fix this, but your last stylist… I mean, they really don’t know what they were doing!» Ozzie gracefully addressed my color concerns, explained what he thought was best and then offered me some green tea and left me to chill with magazines and listen to the relaxing music piping through his surround system. The next few hours we chatted about everything from documentaries to restaurants to bad TV to travel. Ozzie truly is one of those rare individuals that can make you feel comfortable in conversation without it being superficial. He also is a wealth of information with regard to all things dining in Philly(brunch recommendations are his specialty!) and travel. At the end, he politely asked if I wanted a trim, and did not push me at all when I explained I was trying to «grow it out»(even though I knew I desperately could use a clean up). I left with the most beautiful on-point blonde I have ever had(and I have been having my hair colored for many years now, so that says a lot) and he continues to consistently deliver each time I go back. On more than one occasion I have been stopped by complete strangers asking where I get my hair done. I absolutely cannot say enough about Ozzie’s professionalism, personality, ambiance of his salon, and quality of his services. And his prices are super reasonable and fair. I could go on, but this review is already too long. Bottom line: If you are looking for the perfect colorist/stylist and a place where you can truly relax and someone who will genuinely listen GOTOOZZIE! He will not disappoint!

How is it possible that I am the first person to review Ozzie?! Surely others have had a similarly awesome experience, no? Well, I’m happy to lead by example. After bouncing around from one Philly salon to the next I finally feel like I found a kindred spirit in Ozzie Perez. The salon is a minimalist oasis fit for one, one incredibly talented stylist. I happened upon the salon on my daily walk to work a couple years ago, but I always assumed it was a bit high-end for me(wrong assumption on my part, but I always equate a stunning space with an equally stunning price tag). Any-who, I finally got up the courage to email Ozzie to inquire about the price of a cut and highlights and I was pleasantly surprised to find that his prices were comparable to what I had been paying elsewhere so I booked my appt for the following week. I arrived a few minutes early and was immediately taken in for a consultation about what I wanted from my new haircut. I showed him photos of celebrities that I look nothing like and he agreed that the style would work for me. Then he showed me some hair color samples to make sure that my idea of golden blond was the same as his. He even took the time to explain to me how my natural color would work with the different options. Ozzie is extremely personable and chatted with me about everything from SATC2 to biking to local restaurants and art. It was nice to find a stylist with whom I didn’t have to force a conversations. He even did some research for me on bike rentals while my color was setting. Now who does that?! The end result was a pleasant experience, some great tips, and a fantastic cut and color for only $ 175, a bargain by Center City/Rittenhouse standards! Believe it or not, I even got a compliment on my hair as I was walking home from the salon! I will most definitely be back. Give Ozzie a try!
