Well, with work and my move, I’ve been slacking off with reviews. However, I need to give Perch the accolades this establishment deserves before their last day of business on 3÷27÷16. Located on the 2nd floor at an awesome spot on Broad + Locust, Perch is a great place for a bite and drink before shows, lunch, after work happy hours, dates, or just because. It was also a great spot to catch a bird’s eye view of parades! Food: is Oooook, but I always gravitate to the Malanga chips and lamb burgers! Beer: Hells yea! They have a great selection — and they sweeten the deal with HH M-F 5−7P … and Humpday Lunch HH12−2P(I’m here right now. Come say hi)! Taps often rotate and ranges from ciders, lighter IPAs, to sexy stouts/porters. Something for everyone! Staff: James is awesome. Down to earth, gritty, witty, and has the best belly laughs. He’s tremendously patient with the SIPS crowd as well as my raucous Wed«quickie nooner» liquid lunch catchup with local office desk jockeys. Ever hear nerds try to trash talk? The good man has the scoop on that! I will seriously miss this spot. Lots of great memories —(Beer Week, James’ sage advice, griping about contractors and work, me always running out like Cinderella at 12:45P for a 1p mtng). Come by for one last hurrah and show the awesome staff some love! (And typing reviews on a cellphone sucks. I’m all thumbs … :)

Came here Starving with some fellow Unilocalers after an event. They were able to accommodate our big group almost immediately on a Friday night during March Madness which was good. Their gluten free options are pretty scarce but it’s cool I saw fish tacos confirmed corn tortillas were used and was good to go. I ordered that, some fries and a peach cider that was on tap. My waitress was nice enough, unfortunately I don’t remember her name. Now on to why the low rating… Food comes out I’m immediately disappointed in the fries… I very much dislike skinny fries, really I do… They aren’t potato“y” enough and always seem over fried… This was no exception, sigh. The fish tacos looked great although I couldn’t quite see the fish, I thought maybe because it was dimly lit, sure once I bit in I would taste it… Nope that was expecting way too much, it might as well have been a cabbage corn taco. It was seriously lacking the fish in the fish taco. So both of my food selections were disappointing, however they weren’t inedible, thank goodness cause like I said I was starving. Our waitress was also cool about us dividing the check which was cool no complaints on multiple cards and cash, we didn’t feel rushed at all. When it came time to leave we headed downstairs on what seems to be the most awkward staircase for a bar. It’s a very narrow, spiral staircase. Why oh why would you put that in a bar? Seriously I had one beer and I was gripping the banister for dear life, I can only imagine had I been up there drinking?! It’s just not smart… IJS.

The essence of middle of the road. They have a great beer list but nothing has a taste. We showed up late and they still seated us which was cool. The apps bleh. Deviled eggs no flavor. Fried zucchini no flavor. Cheesesteak egg rolls were good but I loved the dipping ketchup better. Main entrée California Cobb Burger and Reuben. Again my burger was good but 5guys tastes better. The wife’s Reuben was plentiful but she got heartburn. In the end ehhhh

I was here a night they were decorating for an upcoming event and the staff wasn’t super attentive to us. unsure if it’s because we didn’t look like the rest of the guest — in suit and ties but it was annoying trying to ask three different people for a refill or more food

The Perch Pub to me feels like the«TGI Friday’s» of downtown Philly. It’s often crowded on the weekends, with many who feel like tourists and it definitely has the noise level that goes along with such a crowd. Luckily you can usually get a table without much wait. They usually have a few pretty solid beers on the menu, and their nachos are a great value since you get a huge plate and they’re pretty tasty. Especially for the location, the prices are surprisingly affordable, and I’ve found myself here a few times after a show, or an oddly timed dinner reservation when we weren’t quite ready to end our night but didn’t want to travel far.

The blueberry vodka mixed drink was fantastic. Nice location in Philly. The grapefruit mix drink was also great!

I liked this place! My friend and I stopped for a drink one night and the bar and the table seating sides were pretty packed! They had an ample beer list and the bartenders were really polite about guiding us to the right selection and letting us try the different options(slowly trying to become a beer connoisseur here) before we selected our final choice. I thought the music/playlist they had going on in the background was great! It wasn’t too loud that you couldn’t hear the person that you were talking to but you could still hear it! I think it’s a pretty cool idea for a place, but it doesn’t feel like you’re too high above the rest of the city, just felt like a normal bar on the inside(minus the steps to get to the entrance)! Overall, I’d go back again!

I was underwhelmed. I can only speak to my happy hour experience, so keep that in mind. As another reviewer noted, the spiral steps when you arrive seemed a bit tricky. Not sure I can picture people who are thoroughly inebriated making it down safely all the time. Anyways, I want to say it was a bit whimsical(?), maybe not practical. But I digress. Came here for happy hour. Immediately decided I wanted to go wine instead of beer. I also decided I wanted a bite to eat. There was really no Happy Hour menu, but the bartender did give a rundown of what was discounted. Would have been cool to have a happy hour menu, but I guess different bars do it differently. Anyway, he gives me the cost of what I’m thinking is the drink and I was basically like«Whoa, this drink is that much?» not realizing I was paying for drinks and food both at the bar. He said something to the effect of «You ordered fries didn’t you? Unless I made that up.» Now it might have been cute and humorous to him, but I didn’t really appreciate the snark and the tone for my honest misunderstanding. He might as well have said ‘You idiot!’ My friend told me this wasn’t the first time she’d experienced something like an attitude from him. I won’t hold it against him, but please ease off the snark. A quick explanation is fine. The food was really unremarkable for the price. I mean altogether I paid 12 dollars for a discounted drink and a basket of fries. Struck me as kind of high for some plain fries. And the only thing of note was the spicy ketchup and aioli on the side. How much was the dip and how much was for the actual fries? As I said, I didn’t buy much so I can’t speak to any other kind of experience. On the plus side(and probably the bulk of the 3 star rating) was the high-up atmosphere. I liked the built-in window seats. Although it was quite drafty, I appreciated the interesting view. But, again, I was underwhelmed by the food and service I had. I’ll give it another try for brunch or dinner.

Food was good. We got the Philly Spring Rolls. They were delicious. We split the steak and frites. I was still hungry so I ordered the BYO Burger. It had really good flavor. The garlic aioli and spicy ketchup were awesome condiments. I will definitely return.

Came here on a random Friday happy hour and i was astounded by the glass walls at the bar overflow area. Perch Pub easily takes the award for«Best View of the Doubletree» in the city. The beer selection of pretty wide, if a little expensive, but hey, that’s why you gotta go to happy hour.

The entrance is puzzling, a narrow spiral staircase. This would case safety concerns. We should have left as soon as we saw that. The gentleman working the host stand acted as though we were inconveniencing him and rolled his eyes at me because we had no reservation(the place was less than ½ full). Our server was inattentive and wouldn’t even make eye contact with our table. She brought our drinks one at a time(there were 5 of us) and we had to flag her down to ask for refills. 2 of our entrees came, 5 minutes later another 2 entrees, we had to ask for our 5th entrée. The bathrooms were out of toilet paper and paper towels. They did not smell clean. The food was ok, but not worth the effort honestly.

Surprised our group of 4 did not have to wait on a friday night. I enjoyed that there were several vegetarian options on the menu. Good portions and reasonable prices. Lots of beer options, with many specials. A few mixed drink and desert specials too. Mediocre wine selection. I got the veggie tacos and a beer and french fries. Im always searching for good tacos, and these were excellent. Guacamole was average. Two issues of note, my hubby asked for a water upon initially ordering drinks and never got it. Also one in our group had a leg completely fall out of his chair in the middle of the meal. Quite odd. Id go back if in the area.

I brought my dad here for drinks and dinner before a concert at the Academy — and all I can say is it was awesome. Great food, great drink selection, and great service. The bartenders were super friendly and efficient, and the food was. so. so. so. good.

I came here for a happy hour and then dinner and it was great! A large selection of drinks and a huge selection of beers. Plus some good deals for happy hour! We decided to get a table after a while where we could get some appetizers and share from the regular menu as dinner, and we really enjoyed the baked mac’ n Cheese, Philly Spring Rolls, and the Tinga Nachos! The nachos were my favorite. Loaded and delicious! We also got the wings that had the right amount of spice! Mac and Cheese was really good as well and so were the Philly Spring rolls, all had tons of flavor and were delicious! Pub Snacks are also available, and we tried the fried with spicy ketchup and garlic aioli… great choice! A little pricey, but not too crazy for the location and you do get a good amount of food with each order. Happy hour can get very crowded, especially if there is a game on TV! Bartenders do their best to get to everyone as timely as possible when the crowd is big, so I really appreciated the attentiveness even with a large crowd! This is definitely a fun place to check out!

Nice little place very close to the theater district and the DoubleTree. The dining room is upstairs and has a nice view of Broad Street for some people watching. We had a couple of sandwiches and a salad in our group and everyone was happy. I enjoyed the«Italiano» grilled chicken sandwich, and upgraded to the french fries with spicy catsup. Very tasty.

I came here on a random Saturday night with friends when all the«higher end» places were packed. It was good/average all american type of food. I ordered some veggie tacos(only two came) and they were pretty dry. I expect some sort of sauce when all I’m eating are tortillas with mushrooms! They didn’t come with a side or anything which would have been nice. My friends ordered burgers and those didn’t come with sides either. The one thing I did enjoy were the Malanga chips — YUM! All in all, this is your average food spot with a nice view and a chill atmosphere.

my go-to spot when hanging with my friends. We have come here over 100 times no lie. I love the atmosphere here. Their food is great. I always order their fries. Their buffalo wings are just the right amt of spice! The staff takes the initiative to get to know you and what drinks you like. Sad to hear they’ll be closing Spring 2016… don’t know what i’ll do without you guys! you’ve been amazing! Haven’t stopped by here for brunch yet… i will make sure i do before you close your doors for good!

We were looking for some dinner, and Perch Pub looked interesting. The second floor view was quite nice, and the menu looked OK, if a little uninspired. Things got off on the wrong foot, as our server took quite a while to get our drinks, as well as bring them out. After we got our beers, we asked for some water, and he never brought them out. We decided we had enough and rather than continue with this nonsense, we decided to leave without eating. We left our cash on the table, with a $ 3 tip for three beers. Lo and behold, our absentee server appeared quite quickly to inform us that we were short on our tab. We double-checked, and no, we were not short buddy. We handed the bill and cash to the host, told him that we left exactly what we wanted, and left. I do not plan to ever return to Perch, and will certainly not recommend to any of my friends.

Cool vibe & great location. You can see a good chunk of broad street from this place and as their slogan goes, «altitude, no attitude» ;). It has a very relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere. This was a night we tried to go to various ‘high-end’ restaurants such as Barbuzzo, Sampan, etc without a reservation. We finally gave up and decided to give this less known place a try. Good American pub food! Not incredible and I’m not sure if I would go out of my way to come back but it was enjoyable and filled my tummy. I would recommend the Malanga chips with the garlic aioli — the combination was delicious and its something I never tried before. I wasn’t super hungry to begin with but ordered the French burger and it was pretty good. My only complaint is that fries did not come with any of the burgers or sandwiches and you had to order them as a side — this isn’t very ‘pub’ like. As a group, we were super indecisive and had a hard time making decisions, but the waitress kept her cool and was very nice the entire time.

What a great selection of craft beer! I had two different beers named after monkeys on my last visit. The selection is expansive and includes quite a few regional NJ and PA breweries. You also won’t find any small brews that sold out to InBev here. Props for supporting micro brews! Tried the wake and bacon. This is the burger with a fried egg and bacon on top. It was perfectly seasoned meat and cooked to a perfect medium rare. Onion rings were meh. Friends and I has a good time. Would return.
