Such an amazing experience with Chris. He’s very funny, knowledgeable, entertaining, professional, punctual and a real expert in his trade. I highly doubt you will be able to find someone of his caliber and knowledge/​experience in Philadelphia. He has a Masters degree and undergrad in history.
We walked away from our tour hungry for more and it felt like we traveled back in time and personally met Benjamin Franklin. Chris is also very good with kids. He was able to make historical figures come to life. Highly recommend connecting with this guy if he’s available.

What an absolute hoot! This tour is fun, the guide is funny, and I learned so much more than I ever thought! I would recommend this tour to anyone, for sure.
I guess he’s a teacher now, so when we booked on a weekday, he was at school. Rather than blowing us off and sending us to another tour group, he quickly made a plan and met us after school. Great tour! Great time!

Chris was beyond amazing! If this is your first time to the city of Philadelphia, a frequent visitor, or a local, this tour is for you. This was my first time in Philly, my husband’s fourth trip, and my son and his girlfriend live here. We all had a fantastic time and we were blown away with Chris’s knowledge and his enthusiasm to share it with us. He took us to all the highlights of Philly then went beyond with information you would not get on any of those other tours, into neighborhoods we would never have seen. He made the tour feel personalized just to us and he made sure he covered anything Philly that we would like to see or learn about, and all of this on The 4th of July! I would highly recommend calling «Colonial Chris» the Philly Official Guide if you are looking for a tour.

August, 2013 (sorry for my delay in this post!!!) My husband and I spent a weekend in Philadelphia for our wedding anniversary. My husband loves American History and I thought it would be great to get a walking tour of the old city. Unilocal provided this information and I was intrigued by Chris’s reviews so we gave him a call. We were not disappointed. Chris is passionate about the city he grew up in. He knows things that ordinary people wouldn’t and exuberantly shares his extensive knowledge with such feeling that you want to come back and hear more another time. You won’t get a better tour of the city or find a nicer guy to spend an evening with.

Had a tour with the Philly OG last summer and I had a blast. I thought I was pretty knowledgeable about the city and American history until I went on his tour; he was pulling out facts left and right and it was constantly entertaining. He has a passion for history and it really shows up on his tours. I highly recommend him to anyone I know visiting Philadelphia for the first or hundredth time!

Chris is an awesome tour guide! I’ve lived in Philly for the last 6 years while going to college here and I learned more during his tour than I have over the 6 years here! He knew everything from each historical building and land mark, to the battles fought all over the city, and even what kind of unique trees they had in the parks. He easily bonded with the older adults on the tour, the college students, and the kids. He had something to teach everyone and also kept our interest and kept us laughing! Chris’s tour was one of the best tours I’ve ever been on and I highly recommend him to anyone traveling through the city or for those who have lived here for years! He’s sure to show you a good time and teach you something you never knew!

Our tour with Chris, the Philly OG, was great. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable about Philadelphia and American history, he also made it really interesting and fun! We learned so much in the couple hours we spent with him. He was such a dynamic guide that multiple groups of site-​seers actually asked to join the tour halfway though.
He’s also up to date on current happenings going on around the city. After the tour, Chris gave us some great recommendations of things to do and restaurants to try.
I’d definitely recommend a tour with Chris to make your trip to Philly a memorable one!

As a teacher it’s hard to find tours that are actually interesting for kids and adults alike. Chris graciously took on me and 25 students in a historical tour of philadelphia. It was amazing how he engaged the students. He didn’t water anything down, he gave them all the facts and allowed them to fully interact with him. He is commanding and his passion for the city is immediately engaging! I think that not only is Chris an awesome educational resource but also a fun tour for adults. I would hands down recommend Chris and has often referred to him as the best tour guide I’ve ever met.

Let me preface this review with a very important fact: I’ve lived in Philadelphia my entire life.
Chris, the Philly Official Guide (O.G.), and his tour were informative and entertaining. The O.G. really knew his history. Again, being a Philadelphian, I thought I knew everything I needed to know about Independence Hall, Elfreth’s Alley, and Ben Franklin, but Chris really dropped some knowledge on my friends and me. Did you know Ben Franklin invented the glass harmonica? Me neither.
And then I found out that this O.G. is the same guy that goes to every 76ers home game dressed as a Colonial with Thomas Jefferson personalized Sixers jersey, and that made it all SO MUCH MORE AWESOME!
