This place is a little world of it’s own. I’ve never seen so many books in my life and I bet you actually could get lost in there. You could probably spend all day in there searching for a random and unique book to read. I absolutely love this place. If you are even remotely a bibliophile, you NEED to go here.

I don’t even know what to say. This place is an experience as well as a great place to find books. Like something out of a movie, just stacks and stacks and shelves of books that haven’t seen the light of day in decades. Explore here.

Lots of books, the owner is really nice. Highly recommend this place to the book lovers. If you are looking for something old, this just may be the place to get it. Prices are very reasonable. I did notice some of the older books cost a little more but this place is highly recommended. Very personable owner who my wife enjoyed chatting with.

Over 200,000 books, magazines, records and assorted oddities in a renovated 1920’s silent movie theater. The space is cavernous, the selection is mind boggling, and the owner is a charming Irish rogue who may one day be mayor of Philadelphia. If you’re checking Unilocal to see if you should go– by all means– go! This place is magical.

This place is a must. Every book, pamphlet, and newspaper finds its way here. This is the bookstore every bibliophile dreams of. Seriously, do yourself a favor. Visit.

If you really enjoy old, out-of-print books(or just trolling through stacks upon stacks of them for fun) this loosely organized but miles-deep treasure trove is your new oasis. Think of it as The Strand except the stacks aren’t nearly as picked over and there’s zero«I’m-well-read» pretention. There is a very congenial, stay-and-chat-all-day feel to this place. Come early, stay late, ask questions if you are looking for something specific — be it subject, author, or title– because you could look all day and not find it on your own. … If you are interested in Irish literature, history, or the history of Irish immigration to the United States– this bookstore being very close to the epicenter of Irish neighborhoods in Philadelphia has helped it produce a formidable out-of-print book collection on all things Ireland and Irish.

The greatest used book store i’ve ever placed foot. And i’ve been to a lot. Found a sweet 60’s mafia paperbook within a minute of entering. It’s messy but still organized. just the way i like it. the fiction section was insane. 1940s paperback copies of the Great Gatsby. The Sun Also Rises with an awesome pulpy cover. A stack of old Kerouac on the floor. Williams Burroughs first edition hard covers. And this is just in one small room. A hallway filled with more books(and a side alcove loaded with the most pulp fiction and dime store paperbacks that i’ve ever seen assembled in one place) leads to the mammoth cave that holds an explosion of spines and pages. Like a grade school gym filled with every piece of print imaginable. I was in a rush and could only scan through to see what categories were here. This still took a good 20 minutes. I’ll be back. This place is worthy of a few hours of your time. Or a few days. The prices are fair. A lot of this stuff you won’t find anywhere else. I was willing to pay a little more cuz i knew i’d never see it again. like 10 bux for the gatsby. most of the paperbacks go $ 2 – 5.

This is the anti-Barnes /Borders. The real deal. An authors’ books seller. An aficiando’s choice. I can tell you this is the kind of place where you could lose yourself in literature. Remember the Twilight Zone where the world ends and theirs one survivor and he gets so excited about reading and then his glasses break? This place could have been in that episode.
