Pizza was ok. Crust is great, nice thin good dough recipe. Sauce wasnt impressive. Seems like they just opened a can and poured it on. Too much sauce too. Where is the seasoning? No oregano, basil? Ok but won’t order again.

*tried it again, you guys need to fix your crust. Sauce and cheese are delicious, but the crust(which may be pre made and shaped and come frozen?) has the texture of a cheap hoagie roll and no flavor or crunch at all. Change the crust, and you have a 5 star pizza.

This place rules. The food is crazy good and the people working there are super nice. Highly recommend.

Ordered them from grub hub at 6pm just a pepperoni pizza and a 2 liter soda. Took an hour and a half to get food and it was cold. It’s a 7 min walk from my apartment, I would have been better off walking down ordering and waiting for my food.

I used to order from Powelton all the time, but recently have been branching out. I’ve only ordered pizzas, and they are a-ok! I just ordered them for this week, actually. I miss Brian, but the new owners are doing their best to keep up. Delivery people are generally awesome.

I ordered 55 pizzas for a student group today from Powelton Pizza and they could not have been better. The owner helped me work out all of the logistics and details for this large order, the pizza was there exactly on time, and the delivery people were incredibly helpful; they even helped me transport the pizzas and drinks to three different rooms. I could not have been happier.

Ordered some food here because it was close to CHOP. My wife ordered a hot beef sandwich and I got the Teriyaki Chicken Steak. For starters delivery took a LONG time. They’re 0.5 mi from here and it was 90 long minutes before we received our food. The food was predictably cold. My teriyaki chicken steak was over cooked and dry. The teriyaki sauce was«caked on» to the chicken — looked like it had been sitting out for an hour. The bread was chewy. My wife’s roast beef sandwich looked good but the bread was thin and stale. The beef was ok but since it was cold, was missing the«hot» element of the hot roast beef. Portion sizes were good and it met a need. The prices are ok as well, but keep your expectations in check on food and service quality.

WARNING: They changed the BBQ chicken pizza. My pie came over-drizzled with BBQ sauce, and it’s much darker/more tangy than before. Sorry, no longer a fan. I just read that they changed ownership? :(

This review is based strictly on the fact that I only ordered from Powelton Pizza because they offer a gluten free pizza. Delivery was timely and friendly. I know nothing about their regular pizzas and I acknowledge that gluten free pizza is often a little flat and cardboard-ish. That being said, the pepperoni gluten free pizza I ordered is terrible. My stomach hurts actually. It seems a bit maybe raw in the middle? Which is strange because it’s got a paper thin crust and the bottom is nicely browned. But the melted cheese bites into a mushy raw dough and it’s not very tasty or nice. I really appreciate gluten free pizza being offered for delivery in west philly, but I think something would have to change with this pizza before I would order it again.

Normally a neighborhood favorite but the last few tjmes I’ve ordered the pizza has been mediocre. Last time I ordered from here I asked for a large pizza, cooked well done, which would be ready in 25 minutes. When I got to the shop 25 minutes later I saw the pizza sitting on the back counter. Upon opening the pizza at home, it was undercooked and cold. I am currently heating up the $ 18 pizza. Since the change in ownership, the quality of pizzas from Powelton have been far below the standard I had been accustomed to.

I can honestly say this is the best pizza I have had in my life. Seriously. It is that good. I have to say first, that this place is under new ownership. Even with the previous owners, this place had very good pizza. Not spectacular, but very good. Now, under new owners, the pizza is spectacular. From the first bite, you can tell that they use high quality ingredients. I was told by a worker(the owner, I think) that they make their sauce from scratch. You can tell! It is that good. The crust and the cheese are very good as well. The toppings are of the highest quality you would expect from a pizza place. I have not ordered anything else from them, just pizza. Staff is friendly enough. No problems there. They have about six or so tables. So if you are in the Drexel/UPenn area, and have a hankering for a slice or two, stop by this place. You won’t be disappointed. Oh, and speaking of slices, they always have several pies out to choose from. So if you just want a slice, you will certainly be able to get one.

My only complaint is that the delivery guy was rude and impatient. I ordered food to be delivered to my job and I specifically asked if he could at least walk close to the front door because I could not leave my desk. But nope, he stands almost down the street. When I finally found someone to cover my desk(6 minutes and 4 phone calls from the delivery guy later) I went to meet him. All he said was«Powellton Pizza?» I said yes. Then he proceeded to walk toward me and kind of shoved my food into my stomach area and continued to walk off without saying anything like we were performing some kind of lowkey drug deal. On another note, my food was good.

This is the best place to go for great pizza, strombolis, and sandwiches in the area — HANDSDOWN. The service is great, and one of the owners, Alex, goes the extra mile to satisfy his customers, separating him and his family’s shop greatly from the rest of the pizza shops in University City. The food is no joke and is rare to find in this area. Try the Oafwich, South Philly roast pork w/broccoli rabe, Italian stromboli, or whatever slices they have. You won’t regret it.

Their pizza is just aite, exactly what I want and expect from a UCity pizza spot in this price range. The mozz sticks are out of control delicious though. Like, cooked to perfection. They were thick, with just the right amount of salty, crunchy breading and the perfect texture(not overly gooey or greasy). I never thought I would rant this long about the awesomeness of an order of mozzarella sticks, but these may in fact be the best I’ve ever had in my life. My coworker noticed their perfection from across the room, so I know I’m not *totally* crazy. Look at that, Powelton Pizza, you made me think way more about mozz sticks in one day than I have in my entire life. And you made my coworkers jealous. Will definitely order from Powelton Pizza again. Takeout is very speedy and delivery guys are polite!

They have gluten free pizza that has a decent crispy thin crust and is not super overpriced. Typically places give you a tiny pizza for more than the price of their large. This wasn’t the case. It was not the best pizza I’ve ever had, but when you have to give up gluten and your options nearby are slim you take what you can get. It’s also great to see places trying to accommodate the gluten free community and for that I really like this place. I must also add that I ordered from grub hub and my order came wrong, I called and was immediately apologized to and they sent the missing part of my order right over. Stuff happens, but when it’s handled promptly and with respect I love it. 4 stars for the good service and having gluten free pizza!

Yo, Powelton Pizza, what’s up? Your food is quite tasty and your pizza is the best in the neighborhood, but your hours are weird and you tend to close down for random stretches of time which results in me eating subpar food elsewhere. Is everything ok? Is it me? I want to love you! Why won’t you let me love you?

Friendly staff and very very good food at reasonable prices. My favorite is the oafwich, fried chicken cutlets with spinach, mozzarella, mayo, bacon, tomato, and fresh garlic on a long roll. It is possibly the best thing in the world. A must try.

Nice little pizza shop, I received my food in a timely manner. The customer service was good no complaints, I would say they could have explain any specials. The pizza was amazing this is not a place for veggie lovers. Overall, the pizza served its purpose and will make you come back…

This is an amazing pizza shop. We had a vegetarian pizza which was beyond believable good. I am trying to replicate it for dinner tonight. It had perfect soft but crunchy pie dough, perfect amount of tomatoes sauce and wonderfully cooked veggies. The veggie wrap was a bit too much juicey, so you might want to ask them to go light on the sauce on that one. The staff was extremely helpful with suggestions and tolerating questions and food preferences. On street parking is available. They use level up too so you can get benefits by eating there. It doesn’t get any better than this.
