I used to love this place. Very convenient to work, very fast, and very good. Well, at least it was good. Last time I visited there was a chunk of ice in my salad. Now I know that most people will think I’m acting«posh» or «uppity» for hating a place for accidentally serving ice in their salad greens, because there are far worse things to have show up in your salad greens, but that ice and the wet lettuce surrounding it ruined my appetite. Also, there are other salad options in the area that are always ice free.

I’m currently following a 1,500−2,000 calorie diet. This breaks down to 500 calorie(or less) meals, 4 times a day with light snacking in between. I was craving a smoothie and decided to splurge on one from Raindrop. It was expensive but delicious. For $ 4.95, you get a 24 ounce. I chose the 298 calorie Hawaiian Coconut which consisted of pineapple juice(though I don’t know if it was fresh or from a can), coconut, bananas, strawberries and ice. For $.50 more, I could have chosen from a variety of «Boosts» but I did without. Raindrop offers a card that gets marked with each purchase. When marked 10 times, you get a free smoothie.

I work in the building where this particular Raindrop Café is located and frequent there often, convenient! I love the salads, wraps and smoothies, but be sure to stay away from the smoothie power boosts which I have found give the smoothie a nasty taste if you decide to put it in there. The employees are patient … always smiling … and pleasant at any time of the day if you are there at 8 am or 4 pm. Unfortunately I didn’t care for their sandwiches, but will give this 5 star because otherwise I have nothing bad to say and the staff have an above average pleasantness.

I love me some Jamba, but Whole Foods is no where near my office. I tried Raindrop today because they have fruit smoothies with those healthy add-ins I love(protein, fiber, Vitamin C, etc.). They don’t have the most exotic fruits like Jamba(Acai) or wheat grass shots, but they have a good selection. Smoothies are less creative and more of a coconut-pineapple-raspberry concoction that you can find in the mall. But the add-in’s are worth a trip if you need a fast breakfast or a quick lunch.
